We stayed in a deluxe cabin for 2 nights. You can easily spend a day driving here from Penneshaw (and another day going back) stopping along the way. One day here is enough to take in the main sites, more if you want to hike.

Everybody we met were friendly and helpful. The deluxe cabin is simple but comfortable with everything you need. We were very comfortable and it’s so silent - we slept incredibly well.

There are electric bbq’s around the park and other amenities.

Wifi works most of the time and we got decent Telstra 4G signal.

The shop has enough for basic meals plus wine at reasonable prices and other local produce (the olive oil is good) and they sell fuel.

There is incredible wildlife around. From our cabin we saw koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, geese and possums.

We had a clean and functional 2 BR cabin here for 4 nights, which was a great base for trips to The Remarkables, Admirals Arch, Hanson Bay Wildlife Centre and Seal Bay.
Our cabin was small but comfortable and although a little old, it had a new fridge and stove and comfortable beds.
There are no shops or restaurants anywhere nearby so make sure you shop carefully for self catering. The camp shop did have a small range of basics though if you run out, and some nice local wine.
The staff here went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, and there were lots of kangaroos and koalas around the camp.

We stayed two nights in the Baxter cabin in December. Check-in was quick and easy. The cabin had a fully equipped kitchen, aircon, bathroom, TV and two bed rooms. Internet was not available. Cabin was clean and clean linen and towels were provided.

They have two walking trials inside the premises where you can spot wildlife. We saw plenty of koalas, kangaroos and birds. Make sure you have about an hour free to do these walks.

Caravan park was about 10 minutes away from the visitor center of the flinders chase national park. So if you are interested in exploring the park, this place was brilliant. Not sure how the fires impacted this place but I hope it survived!

Highly recommend! We stayed to do the KIWT over 5 days - facilities were spotless, brand new camp kitchen, lovely lagoon walk, koalas and kangaroos plentiful. Mark and Fiona were great hosts with perfectly timed shuttle service to and from the trail. We’ll be back!!

We stayed here at the last minute, we had a rented campervan and the camp site we had booked in the national park, was not drivable in a campervan.
The site was lovely and koalas were around in the trees. The toilets and showers were adequate but could have been a little cleaner, I think we were there in a wet evening and so the area was affected by people walking with muddy shoes. I would stay there again and a very easy drive to admirals arch and great view of seals

We stayed for a week to complete the KI Wilderness Trail and were so impressed with the Western KI park and people. Mark and Fiona dropped us at the start of each day hike and picked us up each afternoon. They were so helpful with suggestions and pointing out things to expect each day. I don't know how they did it but their timing was amazing, we never waited more than ten minutes at the end of each day. We had a powered site for our camper and our friend's booked a small cabin. The weather was pretty wild but the facilities at the park were brilliant. The new camp kitchen was enormous and provided an opportunity to meet up with some of the Trees for Life volunteers. The communal campfire is protected from winds and even has a covered area to jump into when it rained. The little shop had a lot more on the shelves than we were expecting, we could have packed a lot less food and wine. The camp bathrooms were oldish but really well maintained and spotless. So many wallabies and koalas around the campground and a pleasant lagoon walk topped it off. We will be back.

The best place to stay when visiting Flinders Chase National Park. Before going, be sure to stock up groceries. The nearby places that one could get a decent meal were no longer available due to the bushfire a few years back, so we were told. Luckily you can get some basic stuff for cooking, such as pasta, canned food, frozen meat and fish, from the reception.

Another reason for stocking up groceries was the impressive camp kitchen and the large and comfortable indoor dining area. The outdoor dining area was nice too. A wallaby approached us and hung around when we were enjoying wine there!

Other campers told us that they saw koalas on trees and heard kangaroos hopping outside their caravans at night. We didn’t experience any of those.

Quite a large caravan park but the sites were rather close to one another. Lucky for us that most of the sites weren’t occupied towards the end of May. There were plenty of trees and shades around my site. Absolutely quiet and peaceful. Like other places we’ve stayed in KL, no light pollution either.

The men’s toilets were quite rundown but functional while the women’s were rather new.

I couldn’t get my mobile signal there so the provided wifi was a godsend.

Another important facility here was a 24-hr unmanned petrol station. Although it served only diesel and Unleaded 91, their prices were about the same as most others on KI.

Finally, don’t miss taking a walk around Becky’s Lagoon. It was an easy walk and the path was quite clearly signposted.

The friendly, helpful staff made for a fabulous stay on KI. I booked three adjacent cabins for a family holiday and the experience couldn’t have been better. Booking nearly 12 months in advance was definitely worthwhile.

The cabins were clean, in fact the cleanest of any park we have stayed in. The floors were spotless as were all the kitchen items.

We loved the wide open spaces around the cabins and the vacant area across the internal road for the kids to play. The bbq area was conveniently located a stone’s throw away. The separation between cabins created a quiet and peaceful atmosphere while still enabling the family to easily mix without disturbing other park users. Perfect.

One of the reasons for choosing WesternKI was the possibility of wildlife sightings and it certainly didn’t disappoint. There were a multitude of koalas with their young residing in the eucalypts behind the cabins. There were always kangaroos and lots of birds feeding nearby in the mornings and evenings. The lake walk with our grandchildren was fun. The resident kangaroos, koalas and geese were a hit.

The small shop was well stocked. Fruit and veg were fresh and the selection on offer was spot on. Basic yet adequate; the owners obviously have plenty of experience in what’s required.

On the trip home, the two grandchildren were making plans to live on KI together when they were older - guess that means a happy time was had by all.

Room Tip: We enjoyed being in the cabins set apart from the camping grounds. Felt more secluded.

Amazing campsite and amazing owners. The wildlife here is amazing we seen and fed koalas and seen kangaroos and wallabies etc. The camp kitchen could be bigger with another fridge but overall fabulous stay with lots of space on the grounds. Due to the bush fires the owners helped each and every person giving them the best advice! Amazing people! I hope you’re both well! Thanks for a brilliant stay!

We've camped in Western KI Caravan Park in Dec 2020. The place is recovering from the bushfires, and slowly going back to full functioning. It's located on the western side of KI, and is a great place to stay of you plan to visit Flinders Chase, Seal Bay, Vivonne bay and the area.
The camp kitchen is AMAZING, all new and very well equipped with everything you can think of. Roos and koalas just outside your tent, a cute little playground, clean bathrooms and a little shop at the reception.
We were delighted to stay there and support this business, and highly recommend staying there :)
