We arrived at this establishment after a big day with Sea Link on day 1 of a 2 day tour of Kangaroo Island. Upon arrival we checked in and asked what the arrangements were for dinner. We were told we would need to check with the restaurant only to be told they were fully booked. We were advised to order room service, so we did.the down side of this was there was 1 no table in the room to eat from and it was a very windy evening so eating in the balcony was out. 2 we were charged an extra $5 per meal because we ordered room service. We were not advised when booking the accommodation that there was a need to book ahead for dinner. All said the room was tidy but the mattress springs stuck and made loud noises when tossing during sleep.

We spent a night at the Aurora Ozone and enjoyed it for the most part. Our suite was beautiful with spectacular views of the waterfront. The suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable with a small kitchenette and a clothes washer/dryer. We have no complaints whatsoever with the room. The buffet breakfast at the restaurant was also outstanding. The Wifi internet was barely functional in our room and the internet TV was basically useless. We brought the problem up with the person at reception and were greeted with an uninspiring “couldn’t care less” attitude, not even an offer to look into the problem. He just repeatedly stated that it should be working, but it wasn’t, just deal with it. It left us very unsatisfied with the service at the hotel. Overall we had a good stay, but definitely not impressed with the reception staff or the hotel Wifi/TV system.

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience with us. We're pleased to hear you enjoyed the beautiful suite, its spectacular views, and the buffet breakfast. We take pride in providing clean, comfortable accommodation, and we're glad that this met your expectations. Regarding the internet and TV issues, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. At the time of your stay, major upgrades were being carried out to the island’s internet infrastructure, which may have contributed to the connectivity problems. However, we recognise that our staff should have shown more care and attention when addressing your concerns, and we deeply regret that this wasn’t the case. Your comments about the reception staff are concerning, and we will use your feedback to ensure that all guests receive the level of care and service they deserve. We hope to welcome you back in the future with a much improved experience.

Stayed in a 2 bed penthouse apartment for 3 nights in the building across the street from reception & main hotel. This is supposed to be the best accommodation at this hotel.
On arrival, we wanted to use the washing machine, but it was filthy from previous use & we had to do a 2 hr boil wash before we dared to use it for our washing. There was a notice in the kitchen area stating that if you left the kitchen with dirty pots, pans, crockery, cutlery etc, you may get charged $100, a bit of a cheek given the state of the washing machine.
The apartment was spacious, but the beds weren’t particularly comfortable. On the 2nd & 3rd nights the wind changed direction and the insect screens across the balcony doors rattled, keeping us wake and necessitating a move into the 2nd bedroom to get a decent nights sleep.
We also experienced water leaks from the washing machine and the sink in the master bedroom en-suite bathroom.
We suspect as there is little accommodation available on Kangaroo Island the hotel management are not as focussed on maintaining the property as they should be.

My wife and I were travelling with 2 other long term friends. All in our 70's. The Auroa was a well priced venue and in a good location, and having a restaurant, meant we did not have to drive anywhere for an evening meal. The Seaview rooms we stayed in had a great view and opout onto a connecting balcony which, had the weather been warmer, would have been great for gathering with friends. The food was good and with a variety of choices. Unfortunately, a 2 night stay was not long enough to explore the island adequately.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us! We're thrilled to hear that you and your friends enjoyed your stay at the hotel, especially the convenience of our restaurant and our beautiful seaview rooms. It's great to know that the location worked well for you and that the connecting balcony offered a nice space for gathering, even if the weather wasn’t ideal for outdoor relaxation. We’re glad you found the variety of food options satisfying, and we hope it added to your overall enjoyment. We hope to welcome you back again for a longer stay.

Again the Ozone does not disappoint with false advertising for a high price! Booked for this week to attend the Sea-Link Horse Race Event and to my disappointment was given a broom closet for a 3 night stay at top price of $250 AUD per night.

I’m not sure what Studio APT means in KI, however the rest of the world it’s a lot bigger than 20m2. Made this reservation in November of 2022 and arrived today 14/02/2023.

Original booking was for a Studio APT with balcony and Sea View. Well there is a balcony, however wide enough for one person sideways or 2 small children. It is not big enough for a table and chairs in order to enjoy the Sea air and listen to the waves break. Oh! That Sea View is blocked by beautiful Norfolk pines (North facing) and rusty tin roofs to the (East facing). Yep Room (Broom Closet) 255. Is just stunning, maybe just cozy; NOT! BTW-The fridge is literally installed in the robe (Closet for you westerners lol). Good thing we are going to catch the local culture most every day, because if it were raining we might be stuck watching a 13 inch Tele.

Regardless, when making your reservation make sure to ask a-lot of clarifying questions and don’t let your 3 day stay turn into a disappointment in the tune of $800 plus dollars for these three nights.

Did we approach the Hotel with our disappointment, Yes; they laughed and suggested we try and find accomodation elsewhere without a refund. Yep that’s getting screwed face down in a bed of glass I’ve always said.

Enjoy KI it has a lot to offer other than the Ozone hotel. I will definitely book an Air BNB next trip to KI.

Cheers!

The room was of very plain standard, nothing special but the bathroom felt like a hospital bathroom. No cover on the toilet seat which in my opinion is unhygienic. The cleaners did a poor job on our room each day as there was leaf litter left on the floor for the whole week that had landed there from our tramping around the bush on the first day! They also left used tea cups for us to empty and wash ourselves.
The price of the meals was exorbitant for meals that were unremarkable. The breakfast was really poor, powdered eggs, and bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes and hash browns all sitting in warmers for hours - same fare every day, nothing to write home about. We eventually found a variety of wonderful food in the local cafes for half the price for all of our meals and never went back to the Ozone for any meals after that. We were told that the locals never go there because of the poor standard and exorbitant prices.
But the very worst of the experience was an horrific smell that emanated from our bathroom drain. When we complained about it, we were told it was "situation normal" and that they'd put something down there that would stop it. They did . . . but the smell came back the very next day.
If you're desperate for a room and have nowhere else to go, it won't kill you to stay there but if you're looking for a relaxing holiday where you know you'll have your needs catered for in reasonable style and comfort, I'd look elsewhere.

A real disappointment. We stayed for 6 nights, and they only had the poolside family room 10 left when we booked a few weeks prior. It hadn’t been cleaned properly, grimy window ledges, stained and old carpets. Corners of room and bathroom floor grubby. It looked like the place hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time. Awful bed and pillows. Room smelt musty and we could hear the next door neighbour snoring through the wall. Website says poolside rooms are disabled friendly. Thankfully we aren’t disabled, as there is no way our room was accessible with a wheelchair for example. The 3 rooms next to us all had a narrow door and a lipped step, so not sure where the disabled access rooms by the pool are. At check in the girl in front desk was disinterested. To top it all off, for 3 days we were woken by noisy workmen right outside our door and in the rooms above us, at 7am, which wasn’t too early but given we were tired from travelling and would have liked a lie in it felt early. We weren’t told about this on check in and it wasn’t mentioned on the website. Thankfully we didn’t eat here given all the negative reviews of the food. The location of the hotel is good, but if there was anywhere else available we would happily have left here and booked somewhere else with a clean, fresh room where the staff might have cared a bit more about their customers or at least charged a better price because this wasn’t cheap for the quality we received.

Hi Louise, I am sorry that your stay was not as expected. Not all of our Poolside rooms are disabled, however the room that is meets the requirements for a wheelchair access room. Apologies about the work on the poolside roof disrupting your stay, this was emergency maintenance that needed to be carried out. Kind Regards,Front Office Manager

The positive was the view but that's about it. The room was not cleaned well and the carpet was not captured during our 3 night stay. Towels and linen were discoloured. The shower was the worst I have experienced in my 50 years of travelling and staying in hotels, you could not regulate the temperature and there was minimal water pressure. It was outright dangerous as the hot water was near boiling and came on without warning. There is no dedicated hotel parking, the choices are the street or behind the local bottle shop. Breakfast was the same each morning, luke warm food, unappetising and very little continental selection. The male waiter was rude to patrons, grumpy and a poor reflection on KI hospitality. Lunch was over priced and nothing special. Overall the hotel looks tired, offers very little comfort and is not customer focused. I would choose another place to stay.

Fantastic location. Stayed in Penthouse, right across the road from the beach. Spacious 2 bedroom unit, 2 bathrooms. Parking onsite, lift. Breakfast was included, but very dissappointing. Only had skim milk to go with the awlful coffee(I asked and the staff about full cream milk and they said 'thats all we have today - Drakes is 2 mins away - they have full cream milk?) Eggs bland. Went around the corner and had a wonderful cappuncino at a lovely cafe. The Hotels location is spot on for seeing everything on the island. You can walk to the shops as well. Staff were nice and gave us a late checkout which was so appreciated. A few things for the room that wouls help: capusle coffee machine, TVs are basic, so you cannot stream anything on them from your phone. No service to the room at all during our stay. Loved the atmosphere and location. Thank you.

The only thing that saves this hotel from a poor rating, is the helpful and friendly staff.
The cons are having to lug your luggage up and down stairs, to get to and from your room. Spent three nights here, the first nights sleep quite interrupted due to the bedding, which was like trying to sleep on a wooden plank. Thankfully, the solution offered was to swap the mattress from another room. Offer gratefully received. On return to our room later that day and on follow-up, this had not been attended to. Finally the mattress was exchanged, my partners bed base also required replacing, as there was a wheel missing, which explained his difficulty with the bed's balance the previous night. Room noise also and issue, the television noise from the next room quite audible. Unable to rectify this, fortunately, it was not left on all night. Breakfast was supplied, but the offering was minimalist, it you wanted another piece of toast, well bad luck. If you wanted poached eggs instead of scrambled, bad luck. While part of a group booking, some more flexibility needed in this area. Wanting to support the community by buying local products, it was evident this hotel not that supportive of some of the local community, as an example, it did not stock KI Gin.
Pros, the room had a nice balcony with sea view.
I believe there had been some problems with regular management and it shows in that things not quite up to standard. A pity really and I wish the new management luck.
