Detailed Reviews
Dated however, could be good when done well.
I stayed in the guest house. The guest was cold but they gave me an extra heater. The bright yellow curtains bought the sunlight in way earlier that I would have liked, they were in no way blackout. The towels were small but in good condition. The bead spread was bright and resembled a child’s bedroom. I stayed 2x nights and if I was stay any longer I would have checked out and paid 3x the price for a decent pillow! They were flat feather pillows, every single one of them!
Location was great and I hardly saw anyone. Was as if I had the place to myself. Walking distance to local eateries and the Sealink tour bus picked me up from there too.
All in all though, I’d go back if the pillows were better!

Stayed here one night while we were driving around KI. Motel has been recently renovated and they did a wonderful job. Decor is really quite nice, bed super comfortable, and the place was very clean. Reception very nice as well.
On site, coin operated washer and dryer available
Just a tip for the area: Kingscote was a ghost town in the evening. We checked in around 615pm and there was literally almost nowhere to eat. So just due your diligence and call and make reservations for dinner somewhere because we were scrambling to find food. Reception advised us to call the Ozone hotel and restaurant and were extremely lucky to get a last minute seating (but that is not common.)
It was a different story in the morning as cafe's open nice and early and within walking distance.

From the outside, the motel still has the shabby look of an old motel however the rooms and grounds are being renovated nicely and the finished product looks like it's going to be lovely.
Check in very easy and friendly.
The room has had a lovely makeover and was spotlessly clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. Light, airy colour pallet really adds a nice feel to the room.
The bathroom is the old bathroom with a lick of paint thrown over it and while very clean, I hope will be given the same makeover as the room one day.
Easy parking. Nice views over the water. Easy walk into the shops and cafes.
Overall a very pleasant stay.

I am giving this place 5 stars as I have nothing to complain about at all. The staff was very helpful. They told us where to go and when, as there was a fire going on on the kangaroo island, and many roads we about to get closed. So, we did exactly what we were told and it ended up being a great time, just before they closed the roads!
Also, when we were going to the beach, they were kind enough to provide towels for the beach. Free parking for the car is also available.
WiFi was non-existant in the room 9 facing the yard, but we lived with that.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which was fantastic for our family of 4. It was clean, spacious and very comfortable (especially the beds). We loved that we had cooking facilities available to use, however when it came to cleaning the dishes there was no dish rack to put the dishes to dry or no steel wool (or other appropriate cloth) to properly clean pots and pans.
Also another important thing to note is that the 2 bedroom apartment is on the 2nd floor and is accessed up a flight of stairs. This wasn't an issue for us, but could be an issue for those that have trouble with stairs.
The location of the apartment was fantastic. It was right across the road from the Tidal pool which our kids loved. And it was walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay at this accommodation again should be ever come back to Kangaroo Island

This older style Guest House and Motel is in the process of being renovated, but it is open for business.
I have stayed in a few other places as I come to Kangaroo Island regularly for work. I have found them over-priced for what they offer.
This is a pleasant motel which is small and friendly, welcoming without being overly busy, and is in a great spot, right on the Esplanade and walking distance to the Main Street. It is also opposite the Tidal Pool for a swim on a hot day.
Great for solo, couple or family.

Very lovely and comfortable rooms. Good showers and toilet. The location is as good as you can get, right near the main shops, and across the road from the water. Most importantly, the staff were so lovely and accommodating. We had to isolate whilst waiting for a COVID test result and they were more than happy to book us an extra night and get us anything we needed from the shops if needed. We are so grateful for their help!!

Very welcoming host, clean room, good view, close walk to everything in Kingscote, dated room, noisy airconditioner, bad wifi. Overall good and would stay at again of coming to Kingscote. Would recommend for families and couples on a budget (we were able to get a reasonably good deal with SeaLink).

Our Intrepid trip used this hotel. Although the location is great, it was not possible to open a window and I had to use the airconditioning all the time.
The strangest thing I found in the room were both the doorknob beiing very high, and the shower. I had to stand on my toes to get to the shower head and the shampoo and body lotion bottles. never seen this before, but very enoying.Otherwise it was fine, the room was funcional and clean.Recommended for tall people and those who can breath only compressed air.

This was a basic older style motel but it was cosy, clean and so handy to walk to town no car needed. Ocean pool just out the front down the hill. Lovely to sit out on chairs go look at the ocean and have a drink. Bed cosy. Big mirrors. Air con works well. Curtains over door let light in. Great value for money.
