As part of a road trip from Brisbane we decided to stay in Warwick for the night once we happened across this boutique hotel while searching Google. So glad we did.

From the moment you drive in, to the moment you check out you are looked after. We were greeted, checked in and taken on a quick familiarisation tour as well as given great historical information about the hotel.

We chose the West Wing for our stay, which is luxurious and has a small sitting area on the veranda where we shared a cheese platter with friends as we watched the sun set.

The bed in this room is like sleeping on a cloud! The bath tub, which is in the bedroom is just perfect and the room has an artificial fireplace which keeps you toasty warm.

For dinner we prebooked the $48 (2 course) dinner, which included a drink. The food was delicious, the service friendly and the setting quaint. As it was July, the room was decorated for Christmas in July.

Breakfast is a light selection of cereal and breads, which was ample considering we were heading to Stanthorpe to taste test to our heart’s content!

Definitely happy to stay here again and would recommend this venue to anyone who enjoys a touch of old world charm.

We stayed for a 2 night LE package last September (a bit late reviewing but seem to have more spare time to write just now)
As the place was fairly quiet Mark showed us around and offered a discount upgrade, which was accepted immediately upon setting foot inside the Bavarian Room. This is probably the most amazing room we've ever stayed in! Absolutely huge with high vaulted ceiling, large stained glass windows and of course a luxurious four poster bed. The large verandah was perfect for sunset happy hour. This is obviously a very old building but it's been immaculately restored and the grounds are also very well maintained. Breakfast was really good and we also got a tip for a local restaurant which didn't disappoint for dinner. Warwick is well worth a look if you're heading in or out of the Granite Belt and there are plenty of interesting day trips in the region. But seriously Abbey of The Roses is reason enough to spend a night or two in Warwick.

Hi Dave H, thank you so much for taking the time to bother reviewing us after your stay in September - you must be bored :) ! It is so nice to think your Abbey experience is still a happy memory after 7 months. Our business is basically 'non existant' at the moment so we are spending all our down time on looking at new ideas for the Abbey so when we open we can offer even more of an experience to new and returning guests. Maybe after we are all 'free' again you might revisit to enjoy another unwind and relax at the Abbey. Regards Mark, Sonia & Abbey the Bazil cat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Abbey of the Roses. Sonia is a friendly and professional host and we could not have been made more welcome. After not being able to travel anywhere for several months, and after having a trip to Spain and Portugal cancelled, it was fun to be able to stay somewhere so different but so comfortable and within an easy drive of Brisbane. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and we appreciated the complimentary port/sherry after dinner and the amuse bouche served with breakfast as well as the cheese plate when we arrived. The history of the abbey is fascinating and we loved Room 8 which had an ensuite - it's not the biggest room available but it suited us perfectly. It was great to have a bar fridge to keep our beer and wine cool for our afternoon drinks on the verandah and we also made use of the bicycles for a ride around Warwick. We still haven't been to Spain and Portugal but at least we've now been to Abbey of the Roses and there's a very good chance that we'll go again!

Had a lovely stay at Abbey of the Roses in Warwick for one night, Sonia was delightful and made us welcome, it was lovely to wonder around the grounds and Abbey and see all the old artefacts . We had the nuns room which was beautifully decorated, and quite spacious considering it was the smallest option with a private bathroom in a seperate area. Nice and warm with fluffy bathrobes. First escape to the country after lockdown and we felt like we had an absolutely memorable break ! next time we will stay longer and take up the offer of a 'Return visit with complementary cheese and wine'

Very warm welcome from the hosts to their historical home. While our room did not replicate the online images it was still very comfortable & well appointed. The room was not ensuite, something we overlooked, but also understandable in a building of it's age! However we did have our own bathroom on the corridor with a good shower but quite a cold room due to lack of seal in the windows. The open fireplace in the room with free firewood added to the winter charm & cosy feeling for our weekend. We had the fluffiest bathroom robes too, better than any I've ever had in city hotels. We also paid for breakfast both mornings & it was excellent. For $20 each the portions were huge & very fresh ingredients..the smashed avocado with poached egg was fantastic. Good strong coffee too! The building has a lot of charm but seems a bit tired in places...the dining hall particularly. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay & so nice that it is couples only. It's a great base for exploring the National Parks.

The common Ares of the hotel were not heated and room decor was very dated and tired. The dinner menu was sub standard and service was dreadfully slow. Pumpkin on four plates was not cooked. Wines served were undrinkable and overall meals were poor quality for the price.

I like historical stuff. I particularly like staying in historical places. But there's a caveat or three: they must be spotlessly clean and offer modern conveniences by way of bathrooms, air conditioning, modern matresses, and a table which offers appreciably more than standard Aus pub-grup such as steak and schintzel with kilos of chips! We found just such a place in Warwick, Queensland, in the form of the magnificent Abbey Boutique Hotel
It's one of those places that inspires awe from the moment you step into the reception area at the base of a magnificent stairway to the upper floor where the accommodations are located. We stayed in what had been the humble cell of a nun back in the day. The decor has changed dramatically in its modern incarnation, of course, but it was lovely just sitting there and appreciating the history of the place and those who called it home. We were encouraged to explore the building, its lavish period furnishings, and read into its history from explanatory fact sheets on the walls. We really loved the experience. It is understandably more expensive than the average hotel or motel, but is worth every cent. And it provides a colourful variation to onversations about travel and accommodation experiences, many of which are so ordinary they're not worth mentioning.

We spent two luxurious nights here and what a welcoming place it is. Our hostess, Sonia, made our stay here a delightful time. All the staff are very helpful and friendly.

On arrival we enjoyed a cheese platter on the verandah. We stayed in the Victoria room and the beds were super comfortable. Both nights we dined in the restaurant here and the lamb shank and steak were beautifully cooked.

It’s so lovely to wake up and step into such a peaceful and beautifully decorated mansion. The rooms are stunning with four poster beds in some, beautiful drapes, chandeliers and antique lounges.

The gardens are a treat with a rotunda covered in sweet smelling jasmine. We even got a visit from Basil the cat who guards the place!

This is accommodation like no other and is a wonderful retreat for a few days. Absolute peace and quiet. We left feeling so refreshed. Thanks everyone for making our stay a joy.

Loved our stay even if it was only the one night. What a stunning building with period furniture. The owners have worked very hard to maintain this 1800’s stone building and it is a credit to them. We stayed in a room on the second floor, room 8 with a lovely queen, 4 poster bed and an ensuite. The $$$ to stay here is not cheap however neither would the cost to maintain and run this property. As this is an old building it took a long time for the hot water to arrive, and when it did there was not a lot of it, even though the shower had a rain head shower fitting. Owners do not offer a late check in after 7pm however were happy for us to leave our luggage earlier in the day and come back. We will stay again next time we are in Warwick.
