Steep stairs from car park to unit that we were unaware of. On entering unit met by strong smell that finally mellowed or we got used to. Dirty grout in bathroom and fittings outdated, could do with a good clean and some modernisation, for the amount charged you would expect better.

Marlin Cove is a fantastic holiday resort for singles, couples or families! The resort has 2 swimming pools together with a gym, sauna, tennis court & games room. The tropical gardens are beautifully maintained and home to Wallabies and Padimelons that you may see hopping around on your travels! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment that was made into a one bedroom for our booking! The layout of the apartments are fantastic and spacious and include a full kitchen, dining area, lounge and a generous sized balcony that overlooked the pool. We had Coles shopping delivered so we could self cater for some of the stay and arranged with the friendly, accommodating reception that should the shopping arrive before we checked in that they would take it to the room and put the fridge / freezer items away for us! We asked for and were kindly given a late (3pm) checkout so that we could comfortably prepare for our evening flight back to Melbourne. This is a gem of a resort & we’ll definitely be frequent visitors. Thank you to Marlin Cove Resort for making our stay comfortable and stress free.

Lovely resort and beautiful apartments. Ours looked like it had been recently renovated with lovely furniture. Beds were comfortable, but the pillows were not to our personal liking. The kitchen had hot plates, oven, microwave and full size fridge. Air conditioned throughout and undercover parking at the front door. Apartments were around lagoon style landscaped pool with a little sandy beach area for the children. There was also a lap pool for those so inclined, tennis and a games room. Only issue we had was with the internet, but the lady in the office helped us with that and it was perfect from there on. Nice walk to Trinity Beach shoreline. The apartment was perfect for our group, couple and an adult friend. Will definitely be back and would recommend to others.

To tell this story I must explain that we owned a unit within this complex for seven years and sold it three years ago. We visited it in May 2021 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and to see old friends from our time in Cairns previously. We chose Marlin Cove Resort (?-define “resort”) to see how it has changed over the years we were away. Wrong choice I’m sad to report. We arrived on the day of occupancy at 11.30am as we had to get transport earlier than required and knew that two pm was occupancy time. We thought if the unit was vacant and/or already cleaned we could get in early. That is a normal and a very common circumstance. Not at Marlin Cove. I was told very curtly by the lady at reception that you cannot occupy unit before two pm. We asked which unit we were to occupy, but we’re not given unit number and was not told if it is ready or not yet - simply told that no entry prior to 2pm. We ate lunch and looked at the ocean for an hour wasting time. At 1.10pm I rang the complex (different lady) to be told that the room was ready but cannot occupy until 2pm. We arrived at two pm to see reception closed. Hours were displayed as open till five pm. Rang a number on after hours phone and spoke to an “after hours/emergency” call centre. They gave me a code to open a safe built into wall and got my key in an envelope. Three hours after our arrival we entered our unit. Absolutely not good enough. Why was reception closed in afternoon? Why was I not told about the closure (she went home at 12.00midday)? Why are you not permitted into room when it is sitting vacant at 11.30am?
More disappointing issues.
No gardener or maintenance person to be seen for five days. Mess on most paths with fallen fronds, bush turkey ground disturbance and wallaby droppings everywhere. The unit was reasonably clean but carpet dirty in main bedroom and human hairs in bathroom. Cobwebs in patio area and ground very sandy and dusty outside front and rear doors. Very limited utensils and no salt and pepper provided. (It is a self contained unit so surely salt and pepper shakers are as important as tea and coffee!)
My main issue here in this trip is total lack of contact and cooperation with managerial and reception staff. To close early every day with no notice on door is an affront and an insult to customers.
Will I visit again? Not likely.

Well appointed accommodation with 2 pools, tennis court & sauna. Several BBQ areas available. Convenient location, 2 blocks from beach, restaurants & bars. Has numerous resident wallabies, some even can be hand fed.

Marlin Cove is a fabulous resort! Every time we want to stay near Cairns this is always our first choice! The location is in easy walking distance to the beach and all the fabulous restaurants in Trinity Beach! The apartments are spacious and well maintained, and are surrounded by the lush tropical rainforest! It is also lovely to see wallabies and their joey's wandering freely around the resort! Palm Cove, and Cairns are only a short drive or uber away if you fancy a change of scenery! Kerry (reception) and Claire (customer service in Brisbane), went out of their way to ensure that we had the the best stay possible! Thank you so much and see you in July! Best wishes, Andrea and Kevin.

We spent five nights at Marlin Cove in a two-bedroom apartment. It was well appointed with a full kitchen, laundry and two bathrooms. We were grateful for the ceiling fans plus the air conditioning in all the rooms - well needed in Summer. We used the lagoon pool and spa but not the lap pool, sauna or games room but they looked good too. Just a five minute walk to Trinity Beach and only 20 mins to Cairns. We’d definitely return.

Wonderful venue a short walk from the beautiful beach at Trinity Beach. The apartment was spacious and clean, functionally furnished with a great balcony overlooking a pool. The bathroom was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. Parking directly out the front. Shopping centre with supermarket a few minutes walk, as are a range of excellent restaurants and the fantastic Trinity Beach Tavern. Everything you need is there, including in the kitchen, washing machine and dryer. Bed is comfortable and with the place being so quiet, a fantastic sleep. Will be back here again!

Spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped apartments with washer, dryer and full kitchen with all utensils. Microwave was filthy, something that should be on the cleaners checklist! Good and quiet aircon and ceiling fans in lounge and bedrooms. Fairly modern, refurbed to a good 4 star standard. Water pipes are noisy but other than that it's very quiet.
Good and quiet location, short walk to restaurants, beach and convenience store. Office is closed all weekend so did not see any staff!
Lovely grounds, heated lap pool and lagoon style pool. It's nice to have wallabies hopping around but be careful of their droppings when walking the paths!

Great family holiday apartment, great property with two pools. Lap pool is warmer than the main pool. You can walk to some great restaurants and our check in was via lock book. Would suggest you ask for ground floor as you get more privacy. Grounds are well kept and I would definitely book again.

we secured a cab from the airport (around $45) & same going back. i dont think the resort is offering free shuttle but you may check with them directly.
most of the tours to the reef will pick you up at your resort & drop you back. its inclusive in their package. you just need to organise it at least a day or two before your planned trip.
the port to great barrier is 30 mins away from Marlin & the boat ride to the reef site is more than an hour away from the port.
There are more places to choose from in the Trinity Beach area.
