Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hay was going to write this as the review for the hotel – is it to harsh or am I missing something If you were to rate this place based on location it is five star for sure. I wish everything else had the same rating. This place is well positioned on the promenade, close to shops, places to eat and across the road from the beach. However, the building is outdated, the singular lift is old and if you have phobia of elevators do not use it, it bounces and they have had to put a sign up not to bounce or jump otherwise it will stop. The building operates a garbage shoot which is great in concept, however it was clogged up and the smell was putrid, it was so bad we felt sick every time we waited for the elevator and it began to come into the apartment. We advised the team a couple of times over the week, but nothing had changed. The rooms were ok, mattress quite hard and uncomfortable but the rest of the three bedroom apartment was spacious.

View great however really disappointed we were not informed that pool would not be available due to renovations. Would have booked elsewhere if we were informed. Kids were so disappointed. Will book elsewhere next time.

I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Right from the onset our stay was a hassle. We were 6 x 40–50-year-old ladies who had been looking forward to our reunion for 2 years on the sunshine coast. We had all travelled from different parts of Australia and NZ to come together. On booking our accommodation we asked for 6 x single beds. On arrival there were 4 even though it was noted in our booking that they had in their systems. They couldn't supply us with an apartment with 6 x beds, so we were provided with 2 x rollaway beds, which 1 x broken. Due to this - we had to use a foam mattress that we had to put on the floor that we luckily had with us. There was a water leak in the bedroom and that damaged our personal foam mattress and took that out of play - now making us down one bed. We continued to have difficulty with reception and getting help - often it was closed, or the staff couldn't help. Overall, the entire experience was unsatisfactory. The apartment itself was in a great location, but old and tired and needing a refresh. We ended up spending a weekend trying to sort out logistics of our accommodation verse catching up with each other and relaxing. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Location was great. We were on 9th floor and had an amazing view of the ocean. Unit clean and tidy but needed a refurbishment VERY DISAPPOINTED around the fact there were no facilities available ie all of level 1 out of action due to renovations. No Pool, no BBQ area. No discount on room rate offered. We were not informed about this , even our travel agent was not informed until the day we left NZ to fly over! The staff seemed dis interested, their suggestion was to head down the road to bbq area. And I could go for a swim at the local pool which I would need to drive to!! If we had known in advance we would not have stayed at Pacific Beach Resort.

Very nice outlook from the 7th level of this complex with a good view of the beach During the time we were there the 1st floor entertainment area was closed as the hotel pool was undergoping renovations. We were informed well in asdnace of this so it was not a surprise . A feeling that the whole place is a bit aged and needs a good overhaul to spruce it up although it was clean, tidy and had everything necessary Excellent location immediately across from the beach with numerous restaurants in the close vicinity One major complaint was the car parking. The space allocated for our unit was extremely narrow so much do that we incurred considerable damage to one of the car panels trying to get in. All other car parks were two spaces side by side so manoeuvring was not too bad, but we were a simple lot hemmed in by a wall and two concrete columns. Note to incoming guests, steer well clear of the space allocated to unit 30 Other aspects of the unit quite good, wifi, tv, fridge and kitchenette which included a washing machine. Certainly recommended

The Pacific Beach Resort is a fantastic place to stay. Sure the kitchen and bathrooms are a bit old but it is really clean and comfortable. And you cannot beat the location. The beachfront view did not disappoint. Emily at reception was excellent to deal with. We will defiantly stay here again.

Disappointed! When I booked I specifically asked that the room be complete beach/ocean front view as we've stayed in other places where they say "ocean front" or "ocean view" but you have to stand on tippy toes at the far corner of the balcony and crane your neck to see water, and I also requested a room on a higher level. Well, we certainly didn't get much of an ocean view or a room on a higher level...the room was on the first floor at the side of the building. You could only see glimpses of the ocean through the trees if you stood on the balcony and even then you had a lovely (Not!) view right on top of the tennis court. If you sat on the lounge inside, the outside view was of the air conditioner compressor on the balcony and a wall. The inside of the unit itself was lovely, it was redone and modern, clean and tidy so no complaints there. The staff were helpful and tried to move us to another room the following day but by the time the other guest had checked out, we wanted to get out and do things and it wasn't worth it for only a 2 night stay. Also found the whole check in and check out process pretty poor. We arrived right on checkin time at 2pm to a closed office. Rang the number at the desk which went to message bank. Got a call back to say they were checking in guests at another hotel, and the "after hours check in" text message explained how to get the key from the locked security box. Same when we checked out...no one there and basically guessed what we had to do with the key. Overall on the plus side, it's in a great location, the staff were friendly and the room was upgraded, but don't think we'll be going back there because of the lack of view and for the price you pay for "ocean front", it's overrated.

Loved it so much! Massive space and amazing views from level 5. We had the one bedroom apartment and it was huge. 3 tvs, 2 large sitting areas with sofas, 2 bathrooms with showers also one included washer and dryer. Large deck and well stocked kitchen with dishwasher, plates, bowls, glasses, cutlery etc. Couldn’t get enough of the view!

Great position, close to everything. Views were really good. Car parking was a tight swueeze, but it was great to have the car safely parked. Staff were amazing trying to help with a problem we had in the room. Definitely needs to be renovated, and over priced.
