Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for 5 nights just after the Brisbane 4 day lockdown. We were meant to go to Port Douglas but had to cancel so booked this at the last minute. There was literally no one else staying at the hotel or if there was we didn’t see anyone. The location is great but no beach view and the heated pool was actually heated. My daughter even has a swim and it was the middle of winter. We booked the “Penthouse” but it wasn’t a real Penthouse, just located on the top floor. It also had its own rooftop area which in our view was a complete waste of space because there was nothing up there except a BBQ that we couldn’t use because it was rusted. It should have a hot tub like they have at other “Penthouse” rooftop apartments. The apartment was clean enough and had everything but it wasn’t a massive modern penthouse, it was dated and needs some upgrades and the two rooms were right next to each other and not spaced out, not much they can do about that as it is an older building. Don’t expect a stunning Penthouse but it was a nice apartment complex, close to the beach, wharf and surf club and I wouldn’t recommend it to other travelers.

+1
Fantastic location and having a courtyard on the ground floor unit was great allowing us to sit in the sun throughout the day.
A large 2-bedroom apartment (Unit 2) which seemed to have been recently renovated.
The only minor issue was that although the kitchen was equipped with sufficient crockery/cutlery, some of the usual soft extras like cling wrap, oil, etc were lacking.
Would be good to see the coffee plunger replaced with a coffee machine.
During previous visits the apartments had Foxtel, however, on this occasion, there was only free-to-air TV.
Take care as the hot water in this apartment was incredibly hot, particularly if kids are staying.

Beachcomber On The Spit is the perfect spot to stay in Mooloolaba, situated right on the beach with just the boardwalk between you. No busy road to cross and the beach is much quieter down this end. Rooms and facilities are amazing, very clean and tidy with all the amenities. The pool is fantastic, with all day sun. Judy is divine she is so kind and lovely to deal with. I highly recommend staying at Beachcomber on the Spit. Bridget

I have been staying here for just on 8 weeks whilst working on the Sunshine Coast during COVID lockdown. This is a fantastic property that has more than met my needs for work and would be great for a holiday. The perfect location is right on the beach and near the ocean walkway, but very private. The property is well appointed and maintained in excellent condition. My unit is newly renovated, clean quiet and comfortable. The on-site manager has been very friendly and helpful with a few small issues that I have had with the unit, which has been amazing during some very stressful times for accommodation managers on the coast. I have really appreciated this the most. This would be a great place to weekend or holiday, so please support this property if you get a chance, especially post lockdown. You won't be disappointed.

Loved the position in the proximity to the beach. Walk across boardwalk and you’re there! Across the road and a short walk the wharf tavern and only around a 5 minute walk to surf club. The apartments are spacious and comfortable however I do think they could use a bit of TLC. Vents in bathroom very dusty, Barbecue needed a spruce up it was rusty. Kitchen utensils could be better. Also the addition of salt pepper oil would have been good - makes a big difference little touches go along way. All in all a lovely stay. Pool area nice but no utensils for bbq there either.

Near the end of our stay my two years old daughter broke a (really thin) window. They charged us 300 dollars, which seemed fair. They gave us a receipt and we left the hotel. One week later they charged us with 200 more dollars. We asked the manager (Don) why, and he answered that it was because they had to buy a thicker window. We said that it was not for us to pay a better window. He gave the most amazing answer, I cite literally: "Realistically if your daughter hadn’t broken the glass there would have been no need to replace it."
Afterwards I had to block my credit card because nothing was going to stop him from taking more money.

Response from Anthony Barnet, Owner at Beachcomber On The Spit
Responded 5 July 2020
Firstly thank you for giving us positive scores for sleep quality and value. All the rooms have pillow top mattresses. For the benefit of readers - the window broken was a floor to ceiling tempered glass panel, between the lounge room and outdoor area. It's a very large and thick panel of glass. We reserved our right not to put a cheaper, thinner glass panel, as you kept suggesting. We understand that it was an accident, but we needed to replaced the glass with the same quality as the one you broke. You were only charged you the actual replacement cost.

Nice enough and location is great. It seems to be the quiet end of Mooloolaba so it just depends what you're after. The apartments are beach side but you have views of the trees inbetween your balcony and the sea. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Its no frills stuff and as relaxing as you want it to be. Would definitely consider returning here in the future.

We were here for our third visit and the second with the current management. We love this spot and will return. Spacious quiet apartments right on the beach. Most units do not have ocean views but this does not matter as a quick walk has you straight on the beach. Right on the spit walk every day out to the head of the mooloolaba river. Spot the Ospreys in their nest, check out the boats coming and going and enjoy the views back to Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and beyond. Spot turtles and whales. Grab some seafood from the close by seafood shops on the river. The other direction takes you in minutes to Mooloolaba surf club and the restaurant and shopping strip. Just the best spot in Mooloolaba

We were visiting some friends in Australia the first 2 weeks of March. While we did spend most of our time in Brisbane, the 4 of us did head to Mooloolaba so we could take our time checking out the Australia Zoo and try our hand at surfing.
After searching we found a great rate at the Beachcomber on the Spit, for a 2 bedroom apartment..perfect for 2 Canadians and 2 Australians to enjoy ourselves without getting in each other's way.
Upon check in we were made very welcome, and efficiently given our keys and directions to our room, as well as a remote for the underground parking. The boogie boards that were free to use were pointed out to us, and an offer was made to help us if we needed suggestions on what to do.
The apartment was perfect. One bedroom with queen bed and seperate bathroom, one bedroom with 2 twin beds (that we just pushed together), another bathroom with washer and dryer, and another toilet room (this was a new thing to the Canadians as nowehere in Canada do homes or hotels have the toilet in a seperate room...kind of neat, really). Our room overlooked the beach though we really couldn't see it for the trees...which was not a bad thing, really as the walk to the beach was about 2 minutes from room to sand. There is a wooden pathway that runs through the trees that you have to cross to get to the beach but it's an easy walk. The hotel had a small salt water pool that was refreshing after coming in off the beach (though you are asked to rinse the sand off before stepping on the hotel property).
Our room had a fully equipped kitchen, a CD player, and large screen TV. A balcony with patio furniture was perfect for playing cards in the evening.
It was an easy walk to shops and restaurants, and an even quicker drive. There was no place to surf around the hotel but a 5 minutes drive took us to anotuher area where the waves were great for beginners...I can't remember the name of the area but if you just ask around you'll be pointed in the right direction.
The room was very clean and we had no problems with anythign. Checking in and out was a breeze and we always felt very welcome. We would go back in a second!
