Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The property is clean and tidy but appears to cater for working visa backpackers with a requirement for a passport at check in and established groups congregating in the evening. The limited onsite parking seemed to be permanently occupied but street parking was ok, if you have an electric vehicle charging is available at the shopping centre across the road. I stayed in a twin room with my brother for the weekend. It had a single bed and a double bunk and 4 lockable cupboards. There was no fan or air con and the window did not have a flyscreen, nor could we find any powerpoints in the room. Only a bottom sheet and doona (it was too warm for us to use) was provided along with a pillow, no towel. Bathroom was clean but no shelf or bench in shower to put dry stuff. The TV in the common area had no reception, didn't try wifi. Very convenient to Coles supermarket/KMart and fast food such as a fish market that sold fish and chips and the usual burgers and other takeaway, KFC, Maccas, Dominos and Guzman Gomez were also close by. I didn't take any photos but the ones on other booking sites seem reasonably accurate. The closest beach is more a lagoon/bay area, not surf.

Affordable bed in friendly establishment. Sadly no pool. Parking on site and shops are within walking distance. On site parking available. Have female dormitories with en-suite bathroom which is a bonus in a backpackers. Also have motel type “rooms” downstairs if you have more money to spend.

We stayed here when the Music Festival was on in Caloundra. We stayed in a double room with private ensuite for only AUD55/nt so it was great value. The room was very basic but very clean and suited us fine as we were barely in our room. We had a walk through the backpackers & I was impressed at the facilities. Its a fairly small backpackers but had 2 big kitchens & 2 lounge areas. I peeked into a dorm room and they looked fine to me. Not too far to the beach & close to the main street.

The people are great, the rooms are terrible - no plugs, no lamps, no privacy curtains, and the manager (Brian) is unwelcoming, unprofessional and rude. He speaks about guests in French when he thinks they don’t understand. I was really disappointed. If you’re not a long term guest, you won’t enjoy. Close to the beach which is nice.

Worst hostel i have ever stayed at. Dirty showers with cockroaches. Rude manager of the hostel who likes to make daily negative comments about your looks. I booked a girls dorm however one evening a man was given the code to my room and entered without any warning which made me feel unsafe for the rest of my stay. I wouldn’t stay at this hostel if you are looking to make friends as everyone staying there are unwelcoming and staying long term. The kitchen was disgusting to the point where i didn’t even want to drink the tap water and the indoor eating area is full of flies. Loud music played until early hours of the morning directly outside your room. After continuous negative comments from the manager i warned him that i will leave a bad review to which he replied ‘no one will care because you’re english’. If you’re french you will be welcomed with open arms however if not i would avoid at all costs. It might be the cheapest hostel in the area but it’s not worth it.

Stayed here on a work for accommodation agreement. Worst experience in Aus to date. Manager is awful! Scrubbing floors with kitchen sponge, timed making beds with sheets that don’t fit. Pillow cases not changed. Constantly spoken down to. Always had girls in and out of his room. Reached out to owner and still had no response so clearly doesn’t care. DO NOT work for accommodation here!

I spent several weeks in this hostel where I met some fabulous people. The atmosphere is excellent. The premises are clean and the staff listens to customers. The manager is top notch. Hostel located close to shops and the beach. Thank you for everything. Yanis

This place is not safe or clean. I have stayed in many hostel / backpackers, so I understand what comes with staying at one. However when you book a single room with a door that does not lock do not lock, it is frightening when in the early hours of the morning men from the street are knocking on doors.

Kitchen filthy, combined living / dining area filthy. Strange smell in room.

Do not stay here. It is also a waste of money, and will compromise your safety. Stay somewhere else.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

foul smelling, rags as linen, dirty, noisy, customer service Ermmmm NONE AT ALL, room hot, humid and dingy... I wouldn't let a stray dog stay here. Beyond appauling. The whole establishment needs to be leveled and have someone with experience to run it professionally.

Arrived here with my boyfriend after a 8 hour drive and was looking forward to a double room with t.v. which we thought we booked. Instead we got a damp box which we could barely fit in, with dirty sheets that were damp too. There was no t.v which was advertised and paid for. We're on a budget and don't expect much but we won't compromise on basics like clean sheets. Went to a motel across the street and for 20 dollars more got a big clean room with a t.v, fridge, air con, and wifi in room. We were going to sleep on the car before sleeping in that place. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to stay there.
