Detailed Reviews
Recently stayed here in a lovely rainforestlike setting yet right on quiet Moffatt Beach at Caloundra. Had a great two storey two bedroom townhouse which was stocked with everything for a great family holiday - extensive library, cards, boardgames and even a couple of boogie boards.
Units were large, very clean well lit with skylights and catching sea breezes. Reception was friendly and efficient.
There is a pleasant walk through tropical gardens to the beach and there are some great well priced seafood restaurants nearby. Two large pools and barbecue areas are available to guests. Not a 5 star resort but a great place for families.

Firstly the outside area and the owners where fantastic. Couldn't fault either. I do feel that I need to write about the accommodation as I didn't feel it was really up to par. We were in unit 5 and first impressions where good but on closer inspection we realised how in need of a do up this unit was. The duvet covers, sheets and towels where all old and whilst they were clean they were all stained or marked. The beds where very old and falling apart. The windows didn't sit flush when closed (which wasn't a problem when we were there as it was warm but if you were there in winter I imagine it would be drafty. I would like to mention that this review is a little late (We visited in Oct 15 and so hopefully this unit has had an upgrade). If not I would recommend not having this apartment. The kids loved the pools and slides and even though it wasn't central (we new this) we had a car so were not bothered by this. Having the beach and park in front of the property was a bonus.

Upon arrival ( an hour early) the managers were friendly and informative. I was able to check in straight away which was appreciated after a 3hr drive with a 1 tear old. The unit was well equipped and laid out. The stairs had a gate at both bottom and top which was very handy. I loved the direct access to the beach/boardwalk and the two pools . The slide to the warm pool does have some cracks in it though.
I would stay again but ask for a different unit as the one we were in did have some faults
Kettle was broken
Mould in shower
Only one remote for uptairs and downstairs aircon ( kept forgetting to take it with me) light globes blown in bathroom
Springs sticking up in single matresses and no valances to cover old ensemble bases
Blinds in loungeroom were broken
Mirror in bedroom was filthy with handprints
Clothes left in wardrobe by previous guest
Cobwebs on window runners
Most of these things are small but as a former travel agent they would bother some guests. Additionally as these are small things to repair they should be done and maybe the resort would benefit from new cleaning staff.

I have just recently stayed at Raintrees for my forth year in a row and it always lives up to my expectations but I wanted to make special mention of the amazing job the new management team - the lovely Kerry and her family - are doing. They are warm, friendly, professional and did everything they could to make my family's visit easy and pleasurable. I love everything about this place and it is fantastic for families with small children. Of course, I will return next year!!! Anne B

When we first arrived, we were greeted by a rude and unfriendly manager and then had to wait 15 minutes to get into our room because we had been given the wrong keys and few instructions. We had only one car park for a 3 bedroom apartment and even though it was half full, they wouldn't allow the second car to park underneath resulting in a parking fine in wet weather. We had to pay for more toilet paper, with only 2 rolls supplied for seven people for 3 nights. The staff were rude and called us "You people". The manager was rude to my brother because he picked up a flower off the front desk. It was right next to an un-patrolled dog beach not suitable for swimming in.I don't suggest you go there if you have children or even if you don't. We had a bad experience which ruined the whole holiday. Go to Shearwater Resort at Kings beach instead.

Would think twice before staying again. Apartment said air conditioned but unlike other apartments, we had only one a/c unit downstairs with none on the upper floor. Upstairs was extremely hot the entire week and was far too uncomfortable to sleep up there (even with the a/c running downstairs) such that we had to move downstairs. Would hate to stay in the middle of summer. Location is perfect, the pool is great for children and management were very nice but right on check out at 10am I was being chased as cleaners had been booked for 10 on the dot. And the state of our apartment when we checked in was awfully unclean such that the floors had to be done again by ourselves. Also, the couch had a nail/staple protruding from it which has permanently scarred the back of my daughter's foot.

Response from Sharon O, Manager at Raintrees Moffat Beach
Responded 16 Apr 2019
Hi Kirsty, I am sorry that you were uncomfortable with your sleeping. This is the only airconditioned apartment with only a downstairs unit and ceiling fans upstairs. We have been in negotiation with the owner for a while now to have a second system fitted upstairs. The couch was replaced after your stay(scheduled) but we wish you had of mentioned the nail/staple as we would have replaced it immediately. I apoligise if you felt uncomfortable regarding the 10am checkout. We try to accomodate any late check out requests if requested by guests, but if we are not asked then the cleaners are waiting to start cleaning at 10am. As your apartment had new guests arriving after your departure the late check out would more than likely not have been available. Regards Sharon

My sister and I booked a stay for 4 nights. As my sister has mobility problems the managers were quick to offer a 2 bedroom ground floor unit. The unit was surprisingly large, we had a massive balcony facing the sea. Although a bit dated, the place was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It is close to many eating places. The managers were friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

Every year our entire family visits Caloundra in July, we have now found a place we would call a home away from home. Tucked in behind Moffat Beach perfect for children and extended family. The new owners were very helpful and friendly.
Highly Recommend this location.

Perfect for a three night stay at the beach on school holidays with the family. Stayed in apartment 28 which overlooks the rainforest type garden, like being in a tree house. 2 min walk to the beach, restaurants, bakery and convenience store on the corner. Apartment has all that is needed, obviously roughly repainted, could do with a bit more care, ugly artworks on walls but otherwise comfy. 2 pools to use which were great. recommend walking around to dicky beach for patrolled beach swimming, also take a drive to currimundi lake, especially with young kids, its a wonderland. Appreciated that i could book for less than 7 nights in peak season, rare. No aircon in our room, forgot to ask at booking and they did not let me know........made it hard to sleep due to hot nights.

Our family of 5 enjoyed an old fashioned beach holiday at Moffat Beach in January 15.
We are normally a Kings Beach team but with all the high rise and development down there, it's a pretty busy place these days. Moffat on the other hand has plenty of space, is family oriented and is dog friendly so watch where you step! Note that the beach is not patrolled if you have littlies.
Our 3 bedroom apartment (37) had a view across the trees to Moffat Beach, Foxtel and, as other reviewers mentioned, the management team at Raintrees are simply fabulous.
The apartments aren't new and the turnover in summer hols mean they can't get the cleaning attention they need but life's a compromise and I'd make plenty of compromises for another 11 days at Raintrees.
Around the corner from Raintrees is a small Foodworks supermarket and Rosie's Hot Bread shop so provisions are available without having to drive.
Moffat has developed a eclectic food scene since I used to poke around there as a youngster so there is plenty of choice to eat out. Two places worthy of special mention are the trendy tapas-style "Pocket" in Seaview Tce run by a team of hipster grommets and for a taste of old fashioned beach-side fish and chips and burgers, don't miss the "Fish Bowl" in Roderick Street which proves they are still making them like that if you look!
Other possibilities are the Thai restaurant in Bryce Street, if it's quiet, the electric BBQs in the resort, or a 10 minute beach walk on a Wednesday evening to the Dicky Beach Surf Club for the free bottle of wine with every 2 mains.
We had a great time at Raintrees and will definitely be back. Kings Beach is dead. Long live Moffat.
