This motel is in a good location to be able to walk everywhere, and it is very close to supermarkets. The rooms are VERY basic and stark - they need smartening up. The bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was small but functioned perfectly with lots of hot water. It was very quiet at night, so had a good nights sleep. Wi-fi was terrible (despite being told ‘it’s a new router’). Expensive for the standard of room, but was comfortable and felt safe.

This Motel was very convenient to a number of amenities. The bus stop was right out side,a large shopping centre a 5mn walk, the beach 15mn walk, and a few eating houses easy walking. The Management were very helpful, and the breakfast was plentiful and good.Although the rooms had not long been refurbished, they were very basic, small, but clean.A few drawbacks being, there was no phone access in the room, unless you had a Mobile phone, the windows were too hard to lock, and fly wire screens were too flimsy, making me feel a little unsafe, but a reasonable price compared to other places in the area.

very noisy at night with the wind blowing against the bathroom shutters.
for $130 for one night, I thought this place was definitely over priced.
Chose this option because they allowed one night bookings ( if you need to stay anymore than that look for another option)
bed was comfortable. Appeared to be clean.
old style motel.

The only good thing about this place is that it is pet friendly and the location is close to everything. My kids and I woke up with sore throats every morning - not sure if it was the mould, the mites or the dust. My son found a dead cockroach in his bed and there were many more running around. I cleaned the carpet myself with my own vacuum and i filled the barrel almost daily with dirt. It was putrid. No blankets provided but to be safe, we went over the road to K Mart and bought our own. Mouldy shower and shower curtin. Broken window panes and blinds in the kitchen area and some very questionable characters staying there full time. The owner was on and off. One minute she was nice, next she was really horrible. The washing lines are nothing more than ropes attached between the fence and the building and there's only one washing machine and dryer for the whole hotel. The tennis court net is broken. The pool was ok but the questionable characters lived in rooms overlooking the pool so I didn't feel right about having my kids swim in there as they would sit out the front of the rooms and watch. Most of the air conditioners leaked so there were buckets everywhere filled with grimy water. The restaurant on the website is dishevelled and full of dust and cobwebs. Everywhere we looked was dust and dirt. We only stayed there because we had no where else available.

Checked in last night walked in and walked back out again. Charged $139 for a 1-night standard room, and very ordinary is what was presented. Maintenance was clearly lacking. Issues closing the door, one window wouldn't lock, the shower head was in an unusable state, Shower Curtin hadn't been changed in years. Peeling paint on the headboard on the bed and walls. Photos online show bright vibrant rooms yet its dark and run down. We have stayed in better $75 budget accommodation, better options available as we went up the road and for an extra $20 found a modern King room

Terribly run down, full of homeless and down in luck residents.
No BBQs no Cooking facilities, no children’s playground, towel badly stained. Mattress very badly stacked Ned and covered in mildew, and turned upside down with pillow top to the bottom, leaving a very hard base of mattress to sleep on.
I now have back troubles after sleeping on this tor a week. Asked for a change of mattress fell on deaf ears of the Chinese manager.
Would not recommend staying here

Be warned, not is all as it appears website. We booked a ''studio'' room for 4+1 extra people and were given a single room ontop of a flight stairs. While the room was neither as nicely furbrished or spacious as they appear on the website (Those were probally the two rooms at the far end of the property out of about 20. The room was obviously very old but the immediate offender was the smell. A can of no-vac carpet cleaner and glen 20 from the woolies next door was needed before the condition improved. Nothing however could completely rid of the moudy smell of the cupboards, or the memory of the dead cockaroach that had laid inside when we oppened the door. Room service was unfortunately very shoddy at this establishment, the sheets were never changed during the 3 nights we stayed and nothing was ever cleaned, only the towels were restocked and the bin bags changed. It was simply fortunate for us that we happend to be clean people. Aswell, no matter how you pulled the shower curtain, water would pool at the top end of the bath and spill over onto the bathroom floor. The only positives are the tennis, and swimming facilities and the location.

While the personal management we generally positive at the beginning of the stay (the lady), as we were about to leave, an accident happened and my little sister slipped and tumbled down half the flight of stairs. The manager poked his head out once because of my mother's scream, and then vanished. No coming outside to see if she was ok, no offer of first aid or words of comfort to my distaught mother. When we went to return the keys, what the manager seemed most concerned with was assuring that the stairs were ''stable''. While the last point was more of a personal one, it does lead some insight to the ethical and moral mindset of the managment.

If you do choose to stay because of the cheaper rate, please make clear with the management which of the rooms you will be receiving before you book.

Room Tip: Do not get the ones close to the road side, the ones that come after the pool are alright.

Got here around 10pm. Was checking various locations, which was difficult that time of night.
Reception was closed, so needed to call. Owner showed up within 5 minutes and got me a room for AUD 90.-. Room is clean and spacious. Everything else I checked was either closed or way higher priced.

An intimate atmoshpere, friendly and accomodating was our lasting impression of the Anchorage. We are so pleased we stayed there. Other places in Caloundra are extraordinarily expensive and do not offer the personal service provided by the Anchorage management. The rooms have been impressively refurbished and very comfortable, the $$$$ has to be one of the cheapest anywhere, the location is smack bang in the middle of the main street but all is quiet and restful. We have family in this area so we will be back and we will be staying at the Anchorage, make no mistake.
