Detailed Reviews
Highly recommended! The staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms are about budget level but with a wide desk where I could fit my desktop for work, the restaurant fare is reasonable for the price and the outlook to the lake behind is full of birds and water lilies. The location is also excellent with the station, the uni with many cafes and the huge Macquarie Centre just 10 minutes walk away. Despite the motorway nearby it’s surprisingly peaceful.

It’s a touch dated, bathrooms are a bit cramped but it was very quiet despite being near the M2. The rooms overlook the lawns of Macquarie University and Macquarie centre (with its metro and millions of bus lines) is a very short walk away.
Check in was quick and friendly. Everything worked.
There is plenty of parking immediately in front of reception, on the street out front and just around the corner there is a large free car park.
We’ll be back.

Stayed three nights at the MGSM Executive Hotel . Hotel was in a good location for the university , Macquarie shopping centre and train station .Lovely views from the room overlooking the lake . Lots of birds around ,watch out for their little deposits as they like to walk everywhere. Hotel it’s self was a little run down and could do with a deep clean especially bathroom floors and around the shower. Few cockroaches were behind the curtains . Supposed to be a non smoking environment but guests seem to smoke where they wished ,, we could smell the smoke in the room. I mentioned it to the receptionist who wasn’t really interested and just ran off when the phone rang. Breakfast , lunch and dinner is available, had breakfast and would recommend, staff in the restaurant were friendly. Free tea and coffee available in reception.

Despite requesting a quiet room (near the lake) they located me just a few doors up from the main road. After dragging my luggage from the distant car park (through 3 buildings and about 300 metres), I then struggled with my luggage downstairs to this room and decided it was not what I requested, so dragged the luggage back upstairs to the reception desk. They were in chaos by this time with 3 other people waiting to change rooms due to mistakes with their bookings. I politely requested a room close to the lake end of the hotel, and they eventually gave me a room in the middle of the hotel. In addition to the cost of the room, they charged my credit card for an additional $50, and said it would be refunded in 3 days time. I assumed this was to cover any mini-bar items. When I finally got to the room, I found no mini-bar, a soft bed, white translucent curtains and a very noisy air conditioner. The furnishings and finishes have deteriorated significantly since I last visited in 2015. At check out I told the reception that there was no mini-bar, and the woman said “no, we got rid of them due to Covid”. I didn’t ask why I had to pay an extra $50, and have it refunded in 3 days time. All in all a mostly unsatisfactory experience. I won’t be returning.

I booked in here due to an emergency, my townhouse complex had a burst water main.. came here as it's around the corner. Rooms are ok but few annoying niggles: I found ABC channels not working on tv, some of the power outlets not working... Basic maintenance stuff. Otherwise, friendly service, clean room and decent bathroom

Excellent and gorgeous as well as really clean. It was really a pleasant stay for us as a couple. They have cute matching bathrobes 😍. The location is perfect too. Very convenient to everywhere. It also is suitable for a family as the room is really spacey. We really ❤️ it there. We will definitely come back again!

A very pleasant multi night stay in this hotel. Nice amenities and fitout, comfortable bed and couch. Quiet room facing lawn, bush and pond. A small patio with table and chairs although our patio's sliding door was difficult to open. Effective aircon. Situated on Uni grounds but run independently. 5 min walk from centre of campus, 15min brisk walk from shopping centre (and some hills). Parking a few minutes walk from hotel towards campus and you walk through a campus building to return to hotel. You can unload and load bags in front of hotel. Helpful staff. A reading room with daily newspapers, fresh fruit etc, was near reception.

Very helpful and pleasant staff who went out of their way to assist. Close to Macquarie University Private Hospital, though initial walking arrival difficult to find - better to stick to road though limited footpaths.
Disappointed to find no plates or crockery when tired and just wanting own simple meal - though room service available later. Lovely view, but balcony dirty and requiring eviction of a cockatoo and then a magpie.
Quiet, but be prepared for sound effects from early avians on lake.

A very comfortable 3 night stay. Beautiful surroundings. Close to motorway, so very convenient. Can walk to large shopping mall. Was able to leave car in hotel's car park (free) and walk or use public transport (bus, metro). Staff very friendly and considerate.

I stayed here a couple of years ago. Very comfortable, good amenities. Hotel restaurant food excellent, but was closed Sunday evening. No surcharge to deliver food to room. Lake view is the best. Really quiet. Staff are friendly and helpful. They were flexible with checkout time, which allowed me to checkout an hour later.
