Good basic accomodation. Great beds, very clean, hot shower and good air con. We stayed two nights, F & S, and had no issues. Very friendly host. No traffic noise because walls are solid brick. We slept well. Photos are accurate.
Shops are nearby by car.

While being very basic and rather 'dated' this Motel is in a convenient position.
Though it is situated right alongside the main highway, traffic noise is not noticed when in your room.
The owner/manager is 'very chatty' and always willing to assist in what ever manner she can.
The beds are new, big and comfy, the aircon is also new and cools/warms the rooms rapidly.
Have stayed here several times over the last few years and each time have noticed further improvements.
Call ahead and ask for your fridge to be turned on and some milk be left in it for your arrival - fridges are cleaned after each guest and left off to reduce electricity wastage.
It can also be helpful when calling to request towels, hand towels etc for the number of guests checking in, as these are all supplied on a as needed basis, so they are always fresh, and to reduce the effects on the environment of unnecessary laundering.

Having read the couple of reviews, I was curious to see for myself. I live not far was getting married and just wanted a place to stay for a quiet pre wedding night. I spoke with the owner, yes chatty, but helpful. I did explain my concerns having read the negative reviews and the owner was honest and open. Went out of her way to show me the rooms, most rooms actually. They are yes a little dated, but for value, they were clean, tidy and for price just what I was looking for. I recommended to my family and friends, and people stayed. The motel is extremely quiet , considering it is next to the Bruxner Highway, The beds are all new and extremely comfortable. If there was anything we needed the owner was more than happy to accommodate. Referrals to restaurants etc. The air con was good, basis yes, but when booko9nmg, you already knew it wasn't 5 star. I would stay there again, and would recommend it. For my wedding, the owner even picked flowers from the garden for the day.

We needed a room close to parents home in Goonellabah so this was our only choice.
Upon check in the rooms were ready however no towels, no milk and the owner greeted us in her night gown upon check in
The following day when checking out I was more than shocked to hear that we were being charged $85 per head for two rooms for one night. There were 4 of us in the family and we were charged $340 for the two rooms over 1 night - Appauling!
My brother & his family stayed in the same motel for two nights and received a discount of $5 per head because he stayed for two nights

Disappointing experience.
Firstly, The owner used her guests to bombard them at length about her personal problems.
The room had tea stains, towels had to be asked for, milk had to be asked for, toilet paper was under lock and key, the ceiling fan didn't work, the fridge was turned off and then it froze everything ruining our bottles and food, the shower flooded onto the floor saturating everything including my change of clothes as there was no where to put them except on the floor. The room was very basic with no extras like tissue paper and all of this for $95 dbl. The couple staying in the room next door complained to us of similar experiences including hearing about her same personal problems and she had no milk when they asked for theirs !

I booked at Arcadia Motel at the last minute as it was the only accommodation left in the area. Upon arrival I received the most unwelcoming service by the manager who was angry about my disturbing her and proceeded to disclose all her life's problems to me despite my lack of interest or acknowledgement. After finally getting into the room after about 30 minutes of rambling, the lady then stayed IN the room for another 15 minutes talking about herself. VERY uncomfortable as I just wanted to shower and relax. But, of course, there were no towels and I received (stained) towels about an hour after requesting them. The bed sheets were damp, with small insects among them. Disgusting. The TV was unwatchably small with horrible reception. The fridge stopped working at some point during the night and my food went off. I had left my iPad in the room on the bedside table and had to come back the next day to pick it up. The lady insisted she had thoroughly cleaned the room and that it wasn't there. She was refusing to let me go and check for myself. I eventually demanded my way in to find my iPad sitting right where I'd left it... I was supposed to stay another night but instead decided I would rather drive back to Brisbane for the night and drive back down the next day for work. Horrible horrible motel. Dirty, rude staff, tried to steal my belongings. You're honestly better off saving your money and sleeping in the car.

Hi Amber P, This is Jo and Wendy from the Arcadia Motel in Goonellabah, we are the new managers of the Arcadia. Sorry to hear about your bad experience staying here, we have heard some other terrible stories along the same lines. We have cleaned the premises up a lot and are also in the process of some renovations to the rooms. We guarantee you that if you were to give the Arcadia Motel another go that you would recieve a much better welcome and would be much more comfortable during your stay. We have also changed linen companies and all our linen is fresh, clean and changed daily. Kind regards Jo & Wendy

Late evening. Looking for a motel near Lismore, found this motel in Goonellabah, just a short distance outside Lismore on Ballina Road. Turned out to be a very good decision, very helpful and hospitable owners, and recently refurbished rooms very good, comfortable and very clean, unlike so many motels we have encountered in NSW. Well worth considering this Motel if you are in the area. As hotel owners ourselves we don't endorse highly very often. It was welcome after a 10 hour drive North.

We had a great stay here recently. The motel is only 10 mins from the centre of town. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the owners Jo and Wendy were lovely and super helpful.
We would absolutely recommend staying here : )

This motel is in a reasonable location near the highway, and would benefit from double glazing on the window to reduce traffic noise (not overly loud mainly, but I was woken a couple of times by large trucks passing by). There is a nice coffee shop (Cognito) at a nearby shopping complex where you can get a good breakfast if you don't feel like the usual motel fare. As other reviewers have said, the beds are comfortable and the rooms clean. A little more attention to some small details - for example, no hair dryer or tissues in the room - but reasonable value and an okay location. I found the paint selection in the bathroom overly garish - lavender, bright yellow, Federation green, grey and blue - and overall the motel could benefit from some TLC. Having said that, though, the cost was reasonable and it was convenient for us whilst visiting Lismore and the surrounds.

The owner was friendly and loved to chat, she did a fine job running the place on her own... it was somewhere pleasant to rest our heads... a cooked breakfast was available at a most reasonable price.. we would definitely return if by that way again...
