I was with my wife and small child of 3 years traveling in northern NSW in Mid- August. Due to some last minute changes in itinerary, we have to stay a night at Lismore.

By the time we reach this town, it was already dark. We were directed by some kind hearted people to Dawson Street where "affordable accomodation" is available.

Physically, Sisley's motel certainly does not have the best of looks. All its rooms are located on a second floor building with no lift and some even do not have windows. I hesitated at first when quoted a rate but eventually decided to stay as I am tired and also attracted to the reasonable price of $90 per night.

I was allocated a room with no windows ( but it comes with sliding a door that allow air to enter). Other than that, it has all the basic things I need and everything was clean and neatly done. We had a good night sleep.

We woke up early the next day and went out for breakfast. When we were back, I requested with the lady boss a DVD player to play a Michael Jackson DVD, bought earlier in a shop and which my small child was crying to watch. The TV in my room, unfortunately, was not compatible to the player. Refusing to give up, the lady boss tried the TV in the next door room, which turn out to be OK. My son then spent the next 30 minutes watching his favourite idol happily in that room.

As for myself, I was given the opportunity to use the internet facility inside the lady boss room, with the PC and everything fixed up - for FREE ! I was told this was a courtesy service extended to all guests.

As the time near 10am, my wife and I were preparing to leave. My crying child naturally feel otherwise as the DVD he was watching was only halfway through. The lady boss then voluntarily extended the timing and proceeded to tidy the other rooms first.

We leave half an hour later. Before our departure, the lady boss brought my small child to her small backyard where she showed him the fishes in the pond and toyed with him.

It is now my turn to feel reluctant to leave, seeing the happy smiles on my child's face. Indeed, in my numerous stays in motels and hotels in Australia, few really give me such deep impression in relation to the hospitality of the owner such that I felt compelled to share with everyone even after I came back to Singapore .

Good Work Lady Boss!

Wow. This must be one of the worst designed motels in town. Our group of wives refused to stay. All rooms are upstairs, no windows set in middle of owners quarters. Feels like a bricking just started building and sort of ended up with rooms that they called a motel. Much better choices we in fact travelled on to casino where we stayed a great motel on the edge of town.

We went to Lismore for the 2010 New Year Festivities. We had stayed in Byron previous years but found it very expensive and difficult to travel. So we got a room at the Sisley. What a great choice. Our host was amazing. Our car had troubles and she offered us hers -- that's the kind of service you can expect. Very comfortable rooms only minutes from the center of Lismore. We had a great time!

We stayed at Sisley over New Year and to be honest we looking to not soend a lot of money. Prices in Lismore/Byron are extortionate during this period! So we researched and found this place. It was the cheapest we could find, so bit the bullet and took a chance.
When we got there, we were gob-smacked. The room was very comfortable and clean, had more amenities then you often get in more expensive places (Fridge, TV etc...) and was perfectly situated in Lismore. But what made the place was the Landlady - Wendy I think her name was. She was exceptionally friendly, and even offered to let us use her car when we couldn't start ours one morning!
I really couldn't recommend anywhere more!

I stayed overnight at Sisely's and Carol was incredibly helpful. This motel is located one block from a supermarket (that opens at 7am). You can exercise walking around the streets in the early morning around the shops and they are covered by awnings. Room clean and the nice thing was it was quiet and the bed was comfortable.

My first impression did not change. This place was awful. It’s a brick monstrosity and feels unwelcoming.

The rooms have no windows and no fresh air. The door did not lock. The blockout curtain along the sliding glass door doesn’t cut out the light coming in from the aisle so the room remains bright until the night lights time out.
The bed was comfortable but the hard wedge pillow was dreadful.

I wouldn’t have stayed except it was pre-booked for us.

Was a wonderful stay. Carol the hotelier always had a smile and was so accomodating, making our team feel very welcomed. Nothing was ever too much for her. I highly recommend here and will definately return if i have to go to Lismore again.
