We arrived at this quaint Guest House and were so warmly greeted by its owners Ian and Evelyn. We fell in love with this beautiful House with its magnificent old antiques that created the special and warm atmosphere.
Our room was so clean, comfortable, warm and cosy.
The continental breakfast was delicious and the selections of teas, coffees and homemade biscuits that were supplied all day and night were a true treat.
We recommend this Quest House to anyone and look forward to staying there again on another trip to the Blue Mountains.

My husband and I spent two fabulous nights in this comfortable and charming guesthouse.
Situated down a quiet and leafy residential road it is tucked away from the main tourist drag, but is a short walk to the centre of the town and railway station, and has the fabulous echo point on its doorstep.
Our bedroom was spacious, clean and well appointed.
We loved the individual and tasteful antique decor which made a welcome change from the standard generic appearance of most hotels.
Breakfast was included which was a simple but good quality continental style.
We were made to feel very welcome and would recommend this guesthouse to anyone looking to stay in this conveniently located accommodation.

We were shown to the beautiful and very spacious English Rose Room after a personal warm welcome by the owners of this gorgeous Guest House. The furnishings, gardens, everything, were just lovely, authentic, and luxurious. The complimentary port in our room was a lovely surprise! The kitchen staff were outstanding and the included breakfast each day was much more than just standard stuff. Thank you Louise! We would love to stay here again on our next trip back to the Blue Mountains, and recommend it very highly to anyone looking for a haven of old worldly elegance, that is close to town, but with plenty to occupy you within itself and its grounds. Thanks to owners Ian and Evelyn for a wonderful stay.

Booked here in 2021 and when we went into NSW lockdown this was what our host Ian wrote to me and said " What can we say "Hard times in the land of plenty".... thanks for you email we will of course hold your payment as credit against your future booking".
I'm glad we were able to use some of the credit in the last week.
We ended up in a small room "The Marguerite" rather than the Unit 1 Lurine Villas which was originally booked - having paid up front I think its fair to say that I had challenges getting the guest house to confirm anything. The eventual cost was about $320 per night - against a rack rate of $230 per night.
"Hard times in the land of plenty" ...meant that our host was not inclined to offer to repay the $200 difference.
Kurrara Guest House is OK. It was warm (and dry - there was an East Coast low underway) and clean and comfortable..and quaint, if you like quaint then here is your place.
Would I stay again,.. very unlikely.

Response from Kurrara Historic Guest House, General Manager at Kurrara Historic Guest House
Responded 1 Nov 2022
Thank you for reviewing our property. Of course we are disappointed that it did not meet your expectations. It's fair to say that Kurrara, a historic guesthouse - was not your first choice - your original booking was for Lurline Villa which you had booked and paid for prior to lockdown. Covd lockdowns and cancellations caused travellers to lose all their money during this period. However we did offer you a credit to apply to a future booking of your choice, which you requested one year later. We were unable to accommodate your re-booking at Lurline Villa as it was not available for your specific dates. We offered you the last room available at Kurrara and applied your credit to this booking which you accepted. At no time did you request a refund. Best, Iain

We recently stayed in the Rose Suite of this appealing, nine-bedroom guest house. Our room was on the north-east corner so there was plenty of light. This was a very spacious room with a separate sunroom and large bathroom with big spa. The house is decorated in early 20th century furnishings. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great location for walks. Quality, healthy breakfast choices on offer.
Only disappointment was that the shower had a very poor flow rate.

Stayed in Kurrara Historic Guest House for a long weekend.

The guest house located at a quiet street. About 10~15 mins walk to the Katoomba town center with plenty of cafe and restaurants. The echo point and trails are also within the walking distance.

The historic house is well maintained. The host has a great taste. All furnishes and decorations are wisely chosen and match with the house nicely. The garden was also lovely. The beautiful autumn leaves add extra charm to it. The breakfast was delicious and the kitchen staff made some perfectly cooked soft boiled egg. The tea collection was amazing. You could stay for entire month and have different tea every day. The room we had might be the smallest one in the entire house, though still warm and cosy.

The bathroom, however, was the reason I didn't give a 5 stars. The shower head was too low. If you are 180cm or taller, you'll find yourself a very awkward position when trying to take shower. There's also not enough space and clothing hanger in the bathroom. Having said that, it could just be our room which as said was the smallest one.

Overall, it's a warm and cosy place. Perfect for couples to spend a peaceful weekend.

Our stay at Kurrara Historic Guest House (set in a beautiful garden) exceeded our expectations in every area - the quiet location was perfect (a short walk to town and cafes and close to walking trails), the bed very comfortable, our room spotlessly clean, a lovely hot shower and a delicious breakfast (including perfectly boiled eggs). Evelyn and Iain made us feel welcome and we were free to make a pot of tea (with a variety of leaves) or proper coffee at any time. All of the dining recommendations that Evelyn made were excellent.
Thank you for a delightful 3 night stay. Next time I would like to stay longer!

"Kurrara Historic Guest House in the Blue Mountains, NSW, is a true gem nestled amidst stunning natural beauty. Stepping into its historic halls feels like stepping back in time, with every corner whispering tales of the past. The ambiance is serene, with cozy rooms and charming decor that invite relaxation and tranquility.

Iain, the host is an absolute delight. A cheeky pom with a delectable sense of humour. He ensured we felt very welcome throughout our stay. From the hearty breakfast spreads to the thoughtful touches in every room, the attention to detail shines through.

Often, historic houses can feel 'musty' but Kurrara Historic guest house is SO CLEAN. We loved every minute of our stay there.

We booked this place because of its history and because it featured a romantic fireplace in the room. Unfortunately we were not allowed to use and considering the colder weather it was highly disappointing. The romantic atmosphere was learly dented. If we add that we could hear EVERYTHING from the next bedroom (quite frisky) you can immagine the romance vanishing even more quickly. And if you thought of sleeping in late you can forget it about because of the breakfast room next to us.
Good overall but clearly not great, not at that price.
