The original hotel was built in the 1880s, with bits and pieces added on over the following decade or so. It stands as a remarkable period-piece, with a great number of the fixtures and fittings still completely original. If you're after a Holiday Inn-type experience, you're going to be a bit disappointed, but it is far nicer in its own...

Stay here if you wanted to be treated like a peasant and secondary to their needs and events. To start with, the room was dirty and the carpet was stained - shoes required. The bed was so hard it felt like a concrete floor and the pillows were either lumpy or flat - at least robes were provided so we...

Thank you for your feedback. I am very disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your stay at The Carrington. The Culturescape event is only on once a year. We realise there is some inconvenience to the guests but we hope being able to enjoy the projections of local artists works onto the building outweighs any inconvenience caused. I am...

Very beautiful and large old hotel in a sort of art nouveau style. We only had a drink in the lounge so didn't stay the night. The staff didn't clear away very much as it was quite quiet. Beautiful building though and furnishings well maintained.

This 1880 built hotel is amazing and the stained glass feature windows and furnishings are original and beyond anything we have seen anywhere. The included continental breakfast was perfect & we really didn't need to order any cooked items. The bathroom had been completely renovated in sympathetic style and our room was spacious with a king bed. Only concern was...

If you're coming here for "luxury" (I hate that word), don't bother. But if you want to stay in a dying breed of incredible hotels, this is fantastic. It's all comfortable enough, but it's the originality of the place that will blow you away. There has to literally be close to a million dollars worth of stained glass here, which...

Great one night stay with my aunt whilst I was over from the uk. My aunt lives in Sydney so she booked the hotel and we were very impressed. Perfect stay and great location. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Just one thing to say make sure you check your room bookings carefully. We nearly booked it with a shared bathroom...

We thought a pleasant lunch on the verandah of this old hotel would be a great way to start our long weekend in the mountains. Yes, the setting was lovely, but having to go inside to the bar to order a meal is not what one expects from this fine old establishment. We waited about 1/2 an hour and then...

While the Carrington is a very old hotel (around 1880) it has been modernised and refurbished. It still retains its old world charm as we would envisage. EVERY staff member was polite, helpful, courteous and cheerful. Nothing we asked for or inquired about was too much of a problem. They made our stay very pleasant and enjoyable. We travelled by...

This place is a history lesson of the mountains. Missing modern day features but who cares; the charm of the place & the hospitality of the staff more than make up for these shortcomings. As best as I can describe it, The Carrington is like your grandmother's cooking (assuming she was a good cook) - nothing exotic; nothing measured; full...
