Stayed at flying fox for a week and absolutely loved the cosy, chill atmosphere. Ross the owner went out of his way to make our stay awesome and we really enjoyed his pesto pasta night. Loved hanging out in the cosy common room by the fireplace and the free drum circle lesson (also have guitars, ukuleles etc). This is a... More

We only stayed one night here and the hostel itself is very cosy and comfortable. However, when we wanted to have a quiet drink in the evening we were told to hide our alcohol as the owner 'doesn't like spirits'. We are responsible adults and only wanted to enjoy a drink or two, and were treated as if we were... More

Such a lovely welcoming place. A home from home. The comfy sofas in the lounge nestle around a roaring log fire in winter where residents come to socialise without electronic devices between 6 and 9pm. There are musical instruments, board games and books to entertain you. Breakfast and free tea and coffee is included as well as access a hob... More

This was our third escape room visit and probably the most challenging. The Fox in a Box take pride in being the best at escape rooms and are constantly looking to improve. The challenge was in English, but the only downside to the adventure was that our guide was a little hard to understand at times. The props were first... More

I had such a great stay at the Flying Fox and will be back again for sure! It's pretty small so was easy to get to know everyone and it didn't take long to feel like I was at home (the manager even made dinner for everyone one night!). It was nice to finally find a place where people are... More

A lovely hostel and I definitely recommend it. It's a small hostel in an old style house which creates a great cosy and homely atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and social people, they and the owner are great at providing info on things to do in the area. The hostel provides a lot of nice small things free which... More

It is a clean hostel with warm lounge room for social hours. free breakfast was great and the kitchen was good to cook albeit a bit small. The people in this hostel were a bit reserved with... More

This is a true backpacker's hostel. Very communal vibe and it seems like people stay for awhile. Ross, the owner, was very helpful with information and a couple of rides around town when needed. The rest of the staff was hard to pin down and it was hard to tell who worked there versus was just staying there. Great information... More
