We had a brilliant time at Highland. Lots and lots of space for the kids to run around and lots of things for them to see and do. We were able to feed chickens, collect eggs, pat goats, go on the go-karts, there was a little kids play equipment area, toasted marshmallows on the fire pit, my pizzas in the pizza oven. The owners are delightful and also took us on a ride in their Ute into one of the far paddocks to afford us great views of Jindabyne. The rooms are large and there is a very big kitchen but no oven so don’t plan on baking! But a great stove nonetheless. The farm is about 15 minutes easy drive to Jindabyne. Other things we did while we were staying there was visit shut the door winery in Berriedale which I highly recommend. We did the waterfall Trail bushwalk out of Sawpit Creek which is 6 km round trip and was a stunning walk. We also did the summit walk which of course is a firm favourite with lots of avid hikers. We went to the Eucumbene Trout Farm as well and we were not very impressed. We didn’t feel the owners were very helpful and had no luck catching any fish after 3 hours of fishing :( …
We decided at the last minute to take our 3 young girls on a holiday with a bit of a difference. After searching online we came across Higland Lodge. It suited our needs in regards to beds and it was only a couple of hours from home. When we arrived we were greeted by Gwen and shown our unit, the gardens, chickens, play area, bbq and pizza oven and the guest lounge. Every morning of our initial 4 night stay, our girls were up at the crack of dawn checking the chicken coop to see if they could get any eggs. At one stage we had so many eggs, they also went to the herb and veggie garden so they could make omelettes for breakfast. They learnt to ride bikes (which were provided free of charge), without training wheels, played Gwen and Bob’s 1941 pianola, watched movies in the guest lounge with some of the friends they made, we went on bush walks and yabbying in the dams (no luck though). Dinner time was great as there is a guest BBQ and pizza oven. We often sat with some of the other families and Bob and Gwen and shared stories over a couple of drinks. We loved it that much that we stayed another night. Would have stayed longer if time and work commitments allowed. I can honestly say, I’ve never had a more relaxed holiday. We will definitely be repeat customers. Thanks Bob and Gwen for making our stay with our 3 girls such a memorable one.…
Small family operated farm stay. Cows, sheep, horses, chooks, Indian runner ducks. A real farm. And the kids can feed the animals and the birds. We rang through and spoke to Bob and Gwen and everything flowed well from there. They are locals and directed to charming little cafe and coffee shops out of the way. Outside is a huge fire pit and we had a glass of red and a cuddle. 3 units so phone ahead, Bob said it gets busy in July. We will be back.
Was our first farm stay and we really loved it. We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage, was neat and tidy. The hosts Bob and Gwen were awesome, showed us around and took us for rides around the farm. The kids loved it and it was a great farm experience for them. K and H Joseph
We stayed for a long weekend and have to say were impressed with the homestead accommodation. It was clean, cosy and had everything you need for a comfy stay. The farm website probably needs some updating as there are animals on it that you do not get to see on the farm but other than that, kids got to feed the chickens and horse. Would recommend it to others looking for a relaxing stay.
We booked 3 bed farm house for our family and my sons family for 5 adults and a baby. Our in-in laws family booked one bed cabin. Both accomodations were excellent. There were horses, geese and chickens to feed. Facilities are good and quite close to Jindabyne. We spent five nights and had a good time. Saw a brown snake slidering across our porch.
This is the 2nd time we've stayed here. Lovely and clean rooms with a great view of the farm from the main bedroom and the kitchen. Lots of lovely animals reign and Lilly (the horses) were a huge hit with the kids we went out everyday to give them a carrot. Lots of baby animals out with their mums. We were lucky enough to arrive to the farm just In time to see a dusting of snow which was fabulous. The bonfire was another highlight. Everyone was so welcoming. It really does feel like a home away from home. For a big family like ours with young children 8,6 and 4 it's a great place to stay.
We've stayed here twice, once under each management, and had a great time each time. The first time we stayed in the one bedroom cabins and found them to be very warm, comfortable with all the amenities you need and the drying room is very handy for post-skiing and snow play. The communal lounge-dining room with an open fire was very convenient that time as we were a combined group with the other 2 cabins, and we also enjoyed a lovely bonfire. The ute ride across the paddock was (great!!) with Patrick and Katrina (the old management), but we found the new owners to be helpful and kind and the farmhouse is fabulous accommodation for a larger group. My extended family (5 adults 5 kids) fit in perfectly and everyone commented on how spacious and comfortable it was, and the heating was very effective, even when it was snowing outside we were lovely and toasty. The kids liked collecting the eggs on both visits and the playground was good value for the littlies. Easy access to Jindabyne and Perisher and we'll definitely bring the family back next time we're down this way.…
This is our 4th time staying at highland lodge farm stay but the first time we have stayed in the farmhouse. It was great, we had 5 adults and 4 children. There was plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed walking around the farm and sitting by the bonfire. It even snowed for us! I have and will continue to recommend the farm to family and friends .
We stayed in July 2015 during a cold snap and were lucky enough to get some snow at the farm (as well as great skiing). Kids aged 9 (twins), 7 and 5 loved the chickens, ducks, geese and a huge turkey. And the horses. They fell in love with Molly the dog and loved playing soccer and fetch with her. Bob and Ros were friendly and welcoming - kids loved feeding the birds with Ros, riding the bikes and just running around on a farm exploring. We paid a bomb to go to Selwyn and the kids kept asking if we could go back to the bloody farm (they loved Selwyn too btw). Great base to stay for a week and explore the region. Rooms in the units were surprisingly spacious. Water so pure up there. Bit of noise at times from the other units, but everyone was pretty quiet once 10pm came around. Heating room and common areas were really good. Everything was very clean. If you go, check out the J&E equestrian park down the road - great horse experience for kids plus a good family restaurant - don't know why they don't advertise it better.…
