Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed here for one night to do a fun run. The room was terrible, stained carpets, holes in the curtains, uneven threat-bare carpet. The bathroom was wore, not one hook, the shower terrible with nowhere to put your soap or shampoo. Tiles and vanity cracked. Stay away!

Stayed here for five nights in February 2023, with price being a key part of our decision to stay here. Rooms are well equipped with microwave, kettle, toaster and bar fridge. Conveniently located across the road from a large shopping centre with supermarkets and tavern next door. Room was a bit dusty and only had a small air con unit to try and cool down what is a generously sized room. Bed was very comfortable and all the staff we encountered were very friendly. It looks like they used to offer foxtel but this was not available and. The sign was removed from the front of the hotel while we were there. Frustratingly, HD TV channels were not available on the tv but we used wifi to stream to devices instead. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will stay here again in the future.

Good value for money and location close to shops which was a good think because on both occasions that we stayed, despite ordering breakfast on the first occasion it arrived minus the raisen toast and on the second occasion did not arrive at all. Explanation was "Oh sorry" and nothing else. Bit disappointing really.

I was travelling solo earlier this month and needed to book in somewhere in Forster at the last minute for a few days. After scouring around town, I decided on the Island Palms. I am so glad I did. Gael's friendly greeting immediately made me feel at home. My room (7) was super clean, nicely renovated, well maintained and the bed was sooooooo comfy. Parking was a breeze and I had a lovely little porch to enjoy the outdoors when not out exploring all the cool places that Gael kindly recommended. Everything about my stay was perfect and it didn't break the bank. Thanks heaps to Gael and her team! If I was to make one suggestion for the hosts...it would be to update the vanity benchtop in the bathroom just to finish off the modern look and feel. Certainly didn't impact on my stay though.

We stopped off in Forster on our way up to Port Macquarie. The Island Palms was most suitable for our needs. The room was spacious, quiet, comfortable and provided crockery , cutlery, a microwave and toaster and kettle which we used for our breakfast . The check in was easy and all on all a most comfortable and well run establishment

The motel is in a great location across the street from Stockland Shopping Centre. I had to book in for 7 nights over the Easter period, this was out of my control due to medical reasons. The room was very big and comfortable. Had cutlery & plates & microwave if you wanted to heat up a meal. The screen door onto the patio was not lockable, so I had to keep the glass door closed at all times. It was nice to look over greenery from the room as the block next door is vacant. The noise from several other families in the motel was absolutely horrific. This noise went on all day and half the night for 3 days. They also took up two car spaces to put their table and chairs outside, so consequently they parked their cars in everyone else's spot. I tried to spend some time in the pool area, to relax but the noise, screaming and yelling from the parents and kids from the other families made it impossible to enjoy. These people made every one else's holiday in the motel very unpleasant. I had internet only for the first & last day. 5 days with no internet. I eventually was able to report to the office that I was having near cold water showers as I attempted to report these issues to the office twice but the office was always closed. Other than the issues I experience, the motel, location and cleanliness was good.

We stayed here for 3 days and it was lovely. The rooms are spacious and very very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is so convenient, just walk across the road to the shopping centre or a short drive to some fantastic restaurants. The only negative is that the tavern next door gets very noisy on a weekend.

I stayed for one night on my way up the coast. I was given room 21, which is a large room with a single and a queen bed. It was fairly clean, except for the bathroom, where it looked like tiny paint flakes and dust might have fallen down from a fan/exhaust in the ceiling after cleaning had taken place, perhaps? Also the bathroom floor did not look very clean. See photos. I took the floor photo before I set foot in there. As it was one night, I decided to not ask to have it re-cleaned. The bed was comfortable, pillow good. All bedding looked very clean, floor clean in main room too. Sleep quality good, even though a large round about on a busy road is nearby. Location is good, right nearby a big shopping centre but you will have to drive to get to beaches or the main centre of town.

Very honest to its 3 ½ star rating but very clean and comfortable for the money. Booked direct with the motel - booking and check-in process was seamless. Location is OK (just across from Stocklands shopping centre) but you will need the car to get to the beach or Forster/Tuncurry town centres.
