Detailed Reviews
We were recommended this place by our motel and the snitzels certainly were large and the toppings were all very tasty and generous. To start we ordered some sour dough though to nibble with a drink while waiting but it definitely failed. It was dry, hard and toasted which is not what you expect when ordering a sour dough starter. Also priced at $8.50 was a bit of a stretch. We asked to get it changed which they did and brought us a cheesy garlic bread instead which was nice but they seemed a bit offended by it. I think the bread was just stale so they should have just explained that they didn't have any and we would have ordered something else.

I often come to Cowra for meetings and stay overnight. Whilst this little town is quiet past about 8:30PM I always make sure I get to restaurant for dinner early. As far as pubs go, the Imperial is as good as it gets. It's modern and stylish and it's best asset is the restaurant.
Every time I have been there I have tried a different dish for dinner and I'm yet to be let down. In fact it's possibly the best pub grub I've had and it's probably unfair to call it that. It's a mix of pub and fine dining. The food is outstanding and the waitresses don't muck around. They're not forceful but attentive and very friendly. They're not intrusive yet are very efficient. They know what good service looks like and nothing seems to be too much trouble. If you order a Wagyu rib eye rare, it comes rare. If you ask for extra sauce with that dish, that's exactly what you get.
I've eaten here on numerous occasions and I keep coming back. And I'll do it again next time.
The desserts are fantastic and their specials are epic. The coffee is a great night cap.
I can't say enough positive things about this restaurant, you'll just have to be a trooper and storm into the Imperial and see for yourself, you won't be disappointed!!!!

Don’t know what is more annoying - the ‘morel’ stance of management not to open if the unvaccinated can’t attend the venue, or the fact that they took a booking for dinner from us travelling from Sydney and didn’t have the decency to call and tell us that they wouldn’t be open.
We booked this pub for a meal specifically because of its stunning meals we’ve enjoyed in the past. They claim to value their customers, clearly the selfish unvaccinated more than the responsible majority.
They will no doubt be pleased that they have lost us from this time forward. A real shame, but we know our custom needs to be directed to businesses that care about their customers. A call, that’s all it would have taken!

Very inappropriate dining experience, but not worth going into details here other than to say I was overcharrged and what was delivered was not to order. My querie on this was met with rudeness.
However, my gig in Cowra runs for the next seven weeks and I'm sure I can find somewhere better than The Imperial to eat.

Our overall experience of the Imperial Hotel was Terrible. Although the rooms were neat clean and tidy thats where it ends. Upon arrival the bar staff were very helpful, efficient and knowledgable, I have to give both the ladies behind the bar the credit for that, I specifically asked one of them if we needed to book a table to have dinner in the bistro and she said no. After we had put our things in our room we went downstairs to the bistro, the menu looked great, but that's as much as I can tell you about the food as we didn't get to try it because of the rudest restaurant host we have ever come across. We walked in the door and asked if we could have a table for 3, to which he asked do you have a booking, I said no, he replied well you won't be eating here tonight! I told him we were told that we didn't need to book and I turned around, to which he said to me don't turn around and walk out of here like that! He swiftly shoved a couple of menus at us and said oh and I suppose you'll need a kids menu too! We stood there for a few minutes in disbelief whilst no one came near us to offer us a table or seat. The next couple who came in after us coped the same reception from him and he also continued his rant with the kitchen staff saying to them oh someone has told her she didn't need to book! So we put his menus down and walked out of there with our money still in our pockets. I have never received such rude behavior from the front of a restaurant in my life, obviously he doesn't need anymore customers or their money, they hadn't even been open for service for 1 hour, so I say if you can't stand the heat buddy, stay out of the kitchen. Oh by the way there is another hotel and bistro just across the road to the right, also another nice looking restaurant directly across the road, a lovely man and his wife cooking Chinese just to the left across the road and subway a couple of shops up or if all else fails there's Maccas. Was not worth the money we paid for the room.

Hello. My husband booked into this hotel before we left left from Brisbane on a trip to the Snowy Mountains. A one night stop over was book. When arriving at the hotel one needs to check into this hotel at the bar. We were instructed that our children to remove our children from the bar area (where we were checking in) and that they needed to stand on their own away from us. Our room had clearly been used by smokers and really smelt. The pub was immediately below our room and it was VERY noisy late into the night. Bathroom facilities are shared. Someone was ill over the entire mens bathroom and I needed to take my children to the ladies bathroom. A most unpleasant experience.

Response from TheImpy, Manager at The Imperial Hotel

We are sorry you had a bad experience at The Imperial Hotel, as we are a hotel (not to be confused with a Motel) and like most Hotels we have limited space and not the room for a designated 'Check In' counter therefor we do the check in at the bar, as per our liquor license the immediate bar area was a restricted area (Lifted as of 7/08/12) and children were not allowed by law in that area. All our rooms are non-smoking rooms and i can assure you that if they had been smoked in we would have had the whole room cleaned (carpets, furniture etc.) As for the pub being noisy, like most pubs on the weekend we do get a crowd and are open quite late. We do have rooms with ensuites available if you choose to stay with us again next time you're in town. Once again, sorry for your experience and hope to see you again.

We were recommended this by the information centre. We had a room with bathroom. It is a basic NSW pub. Nothing special. It does have a bistro, but we ate out. We were in 8, and there was loud air handling unit or compressor that turned on and off all night. Don't stay in 8. Its on the main street.
I am sure there is better.

Got a chance to stay here during the cowra wine show. All staff were really friendly and the new licensee stopped by and had a beer with us after checking in. Food was solid and the rooms were clean and tidy. Had a 1 piece band on after the wine show which kept the atmosphere kicking along nicely. No complaints here

We stopped in after a long day on the road. All the staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the meals were delicious. Large portion sizes, a variety or specials, great garlic bread, and tasty desserts. We were surprised the place wasn't overflowing with customers - didn't have to wait long and left very happy. Thanks to Carl the bartender (seriously ladies - he's lovely!), the helpful waitress and the talented chef!
