Two accommodation styles in one amazing beach side hotel. The Coogee Bay Hotel has welcomed guests and visitors since 1873. For a young country such as Australia this is a significant achievement for any establishment. Coogee is a beach suburb located only 8km south east of Sydney's central business district, and has been popular as a beach side resort town since it was connected to Sydney via public transport in 1902. Today Coogee's proximity to Sydney Airport and to Sydney City, along with its popular swimming beach, ensure that it continues to thrive as a hub of restaurants, cafes, and hotels which are all located within a short walk of the beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel has recently invested in our classic pub rooms located above the bar, and our new Coogee Bay rooms offer a casual, playful, relaxed beach side stay. Perfect for those who want to spend a lazy sunny afternoon in our beer garden, and then dance the night away to a live band. Some rooms have access to a stunning balcony opposite the beach from which you can enjoy the sea breeze, and take in all of the local sights from the comfort of your own room. The Coogee Bay Hotel also boasts a 4-star Boutique hotel located behind the main property at 9 Vicar Street, Coogee. The Boutique hotel is a hidden gem, and it is popular with business travellers, couples enjoying weekend escapes, and families bringing the kids to the beach during the holidays. Offering spacious and luxurious accommodation, the Boutique hotel feels more private and intimate than the rooms above the bar. With two styles of accommodation, a sports bar, beach side Brasserie, beer garden, Selina's live music venue, and private function & meeting spaces, the Coogee Bay Hotel can cater for all of your needs. We look forward to welcoming you to our wonderful hotel during your next visit to Coogee.

Hotel at the back of the pub….that may put you off, don’t let it! Really big rooms, very comfortable beds, good facilities
You won’t get the ocean views but f the neighbouring hotel, though some rooms do have them, what you get is great value perfectly located quiet rooms in a great part of Sydney
If you plan to be out and about all day stay here, there is so much to see and do in the area…..right on the best walk in Sydney from Coogee to Bondi with great beaches along the way

Good hotel, unfortunately with 2 or 3 drawbacks. Check-in and check-out very professional, very helpful staff (extending check-out time, providing parasols and beach chairs, tips, etc.) We stayed in the back area for 4 days (not above the bar/garden/street) and it was still very loud, as other guests have mentioned (air conditioning and shuttle traffic). What also bothered us was the fact that when you sit on the balcony you can't see the beach because of the high concrete parapet; the photos are sometimes misleading. What a shame! Price-performance ratio is on the higher end.

After ordering nachos at the restaurant, we were presented with Doritos instead. Doritos contain industrial dyes, elements we strive to avoid in our diet. If we intended to consume Doritos, we wouldn’t have chosen a restaurant. In addition, the restaurant declined to replace the dish or refund the payment, compounding the overall disappointment.

The Coogee Bay Hotel is definitely not what it used to be. How disappointing. It doesn't feel like a pub now, just a place that's been taken over and "fancied" up to justify the prices and that includes both the food and the drinks. The different areas with different names including the restaurant ALL have the exact same menu with the same prices. That's not a pub. The food we had was average at best and overpriced drinks, $16 for a pint of factory beer, $19 for a glass of wine! I saw a wine I recognised that is well under $20 at the supermarket on the menu for $100.00 a bottle. Rip off!! The only thing going for it is the location and that's what they're banking on. Other reviews have mentioned security (bouncers), that's the first thing you see, it's like they are trying to deter people from coming in. There is no atmosphere it's way overpriced. There will definitely be some atmosphere if that hessian false ceiling goes up in flames one winter when the heaters are on though. I wonder what it's hiding? As so many others have also decided not to go back, we won't be either.

Coogee Bay boutique hotel is a well-appointed hotel and always makes for a great stay! The staff are friendly and helpful, providing information about the area and helping out guests with recommendations. The rooms are modern and a good size, with all the amenities. Proximity to the beach is perfect, with many rooms also having a view. I’ve stayed here a number of times and will continue to come back!

Staff unfriendly, no help to carry the luggage upstairs, no room service on the first day - unpleasant communication with the manager wether we had left the please do not disturb sign outside instead of an excuse. The whole place is not well kept, security outside to keep people in charge who visit the different bars of the hotel .. If you book a room facing the street you won’t be able to sleep as the windows don’t block the noise and street is beeing cleaned at four am.

We first started visiting Coogee in 2015 and one of the first bars we went to was the CBH. They’ve made some improvements in recent time’s and it’s become a bit of an institution in the Beach area. Not sure it’s quite iconic yet but certainly close. The Pros are it’s proximity to the Beach, it’s ability to cater for a relatively large number of people and variety of food choices. However at really busy times (it’s very popular!) it can be a bit manic. I’m also more aware of the smell of cigarette smoke outside although it does restrict smoking to certain areas. However we are quite sensitive! We’ve eaten there in the past and it’s been a good experience. Like many check out Happy Hour times plus they sometimes have other offers going on. For example they had a deal with Peroni when we were there. If only in Coogee briefly it’s a must-visit place!

After a traumatic experience staying at a run down hotel in Sydney we were very grateful to get into the Coogee Bay Hotel on a hot Saturday in February.
The staff are wonderful and helpful with very efficient service.
The rooms are large, clean, lovely and cool with great air conditioning. Even though Coogee is busy we had no noise in the night.
The location is perfect just across the road from the beach, nearby cafes and bars etc.
There is a fridge, tea and cofee making and cooking facilities, crockery and utensils which is very handy.
There is a full bath as well as a separate shower.
The bed was huge and lots of pillows. There is a huge closet with lots of hanging space, an iron and ironing board.
We had a nice outdoor area balcony with table and chairs.
We loved our stay and cant wait to come back.

I didn't even have the chance to go to this bar and I can't express my disappointment. At the begging of December, I made a reservation for 1st January 2022 @ 6 pm for 10 pax at the Balcony Bar and just 3 days before the date of my booking they called to inform me they have cancelled my reservation because the Balcony Bar will be closed. They didn't give me any other option and they ruined my plan with my friends as I will not be able to find a spot in another place that can accommodate my request in such a short time. So frustrating.

Hi,
Yes, Coogee Bay Hotel did a luggage storage for us on our day of check out as we are leaving the Coogee Bay for airport late in the day.
Not sure about early check in.
There are more places to choose from in the Coogee area.
