The Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach is often celebrated for its professional service and prime location, with the beach and dining options just a stone's throw away. Guests are generally impressed with the spacious and clean rooms boasting stunning ocean views, though the décor and bathrooms may feel a bit dated to some.
While the hotel's cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere receive commendations, the value is debated; meals are considered good for the cost, but parking and room rates are sometimes seen as steep. Amenities like the pool enhance the experience, although improvements could be made.

I enjoyed thoroughly my stay at Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach. I arrived around 9 pm on a Monday evening and was welcomed by the friendly and professional Mary, with whom it was a delight to engage. I was privileged to stay on the 7th floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean and the pool below. My room was maintained and cleaned each day to the highest standards; the linens were all of superior quality; Shutters restaurant was exceptional, with excellent vegetarian options available - kudos to the chefs. If it's available all year-round, vegos must try the pumpkin risotto with crispy sage! Importantly, my room was fairly well sound proof; I couldn't hear my neighbours on either side utilising bathroom facilities etc; I really appreciated that! I tend to run fairly warm, naturally, so having the opportunity to custom adjust my room's temperature to a more comfortable setting just enhanced my overall experience. The hotel is in a great location at the Southern end of the beach promenade and is within short walking distance to the main shopping district, so all food and other retail amenities are accessible with ease.

Wow, beautiful hotel, with an amazing pool and 2 min walk to beach and rock pool.
Very posh inside, felt a bit like an up market American country club experience. Breakfast/restaurant room was beautiful. Staff very nice. Free towels for pool and beach. Room very good with usb sockets. Good public buses to Bondi. The walk took us over an hour, and was up and down hill. Nearby Coogee beach restaurants were great.

My daughter and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Coogee for 9 days and we loved the experience. Starting from the check-in where Mary and Chloe did everything to make us feel at home.
Special thanks to Rochak, the front office manager, who looked after us during the whole stay, making sure we had everything we needed.
The room was cosy, clean and had all the amenities we needed. The bed was soooo comfortable and we had fresh towels every day. The black out curtains made it possible to have a nap in the afternoon and to sleep in in the morning. Rest levels successfully restored.
The continental breakfast was delicious with also a selection of hot food freshly cooked by the chef. What a treat! There is a tennis court and a pool for guests enjoyment. Pool/beach towels are provided. Everyone from the reception, housekeeping staff, to the food and beverage team was helpful and friendly. A special shout out to the barista who spoiled my toddler making her a takeaway babycino every morning. At the end of our vacation, I struggled to convince her that “nope, she can’t live at the hotel” as she didn’t want to go back home😂.
Now let’s talk about the location: 😍😍😍.
It’s a beach front hotel with bus stops across the road going both to south and north of the city so it was very easy to move around. There is an onsite parking for the guests. Woollies and restaurants just a 5 minutes walking distance and Coogee Bay Road that offers a range of restaurants from all over the world.
This place is a must if you want to taste Sydney’s vibe.
I could not have asked for more. Highly recommended. Looking forward to staying there again… and my daughter too ! 😅

Every year on my birthday I am very fortunate to be able to pool my birthday gift money and my child-minding brownie points and treat myself to a solo hotel staycation away from hubby and young kids. I usually stay somewhere in Sydney CBD, but this year decided to stay at Coogee.
First, the positives. Great location, bed extremely comfy. Check in and out was very quick. Breakky was cheaper if bought on the day (not part of accomodation package) and is great value for money. Looks like a small selection but is actually just set up very efficiently. Can get eggs made as you like them and had great little selection of gluten free baked goods. Nice touch that barista made coffee is included in the breakky price too. Very tasty and lovely view.
The negatives. Very impersonal service. Although my husband booked this for me and made mention of it being for my birthday, and although I’m an IHG member, there was absolutely zero mention of it being a special occasion. (When I have stayed at other IHG hotels on special occasions, they mention it on the screen when you arrive and leave you a card and/ or a drink/ voucher. I asked if there was a chance of a late checkout and was given an abrupt no, without even pretending to check t see if the room was booked that night; the young staff at reception seemed more interested in chatting with each other than serving me. Room service menu can only be access via a QR code, which is fine except that the menu doesn’t have any mention of dietary requirements. When I called to find out if they had anything gluten free, they didn’t know and had to call me back once they’d asked around. When the GF pasta did arrive, it was very tasty. However the gelato arrived on a biscuit base (no mention of that in the menu or on the phone) meaning I couldn’t eat it. I couldn’t be bothered calling back through the whole rigmarole to ask for another.
The bedroom has had a refurb and looks nicely refreshed and updated. However the bathroom is extremely old and tired and in need of an update too.
The female staff at breakfast were lovely, friendly and prompt as were the chefs. However the male staff member neglected to wipe my table down after the previous patrons left and forgot and then subsequently messed up my coffee order with no apology offered.
All in all it was a very comfortable but lacklustre stay. I wouldn’t give this hotel 4 stars (more like a solid 3) and probably won’t stay again. Though I will come back for a nice breakky with a lovely view! Could be a much better experience with a few tweaks.

I genuinely enjoy staying at this hotel, and have visited several times. One of the highlights of my stays has been the complimentary room upgrades to rooms with a beautiful beach view—an excellent touch that always enhances my experience.
However, I do have a few concerns. I noticed that the cleanliness could be improved; I found some hair in the bath and discovered rubbish under the bed. While this didn’t ruin my stay, it's worth addressing for future guests.
Regarding the breakfast, the variety was somewhat lacking and didn’t change much from day to day. A broader selection and a rotating menu would be a great addition to make mornings more enjoyable.
Additionally, there was some inconsistency with the welcome drink policy. Different staff members provided conflicting information about whether alcoholic beverages were included. It would be beneficial for the hotel to clarify this policy to avoid any confusion.
Overall, this hotel remains a lovely place to stay, but addressing these areas could make the experience even better.

This is a nice hotel near all the beaches. A nice walk to nearby shops for food and beverages. Yet the shops close early in the evening, and the McDonald's would close before midnight. There are bottles of drinking water and a bowl of fresh fruits to welcome guests. The room is nice and comfortable but it is quite humid even though the air conditioner is working. I consider the rate is a bit too expensive for a standard room. Of course, this is still the best hotel in Coogee beach.

We stayed here for the Taylor Swift Eras concert in Sydney. We chose to stay away from the city and near the beach.
Great decision- Coogee has a wonderful vibe
There was a bit of difficulty asking for adjoining rooms with a connecting door. We booked through IHG who would put through requests but not confirm the request. Finally I resorted to contacting the hotel directly which was successful. I was surprised that it’s not possible to do through the booking service.
The staff at the hotel are a credit to them polite and friendly. They had set up an area for photos, making bracelets and make up in the lobby.
The rooms are large but decor is very dated and bathrooms small. Cleaning is excellent and of a high standard. Stay was very expensive considering location and rooms but accomodation was scarce that weekend
Hotel is very centrally and conveniently located.
Was a lovely stay. Thanks

It's not perfect by any means but Crowne Plaza Coogee is a wonderful beach side stay. The location is superb and it's the nicest hotel in Coogee. The service level fluctuates depending on who you deal with but overall it was very good. The breakfast though not expansive in options does what it does very well, and a tip of my cap to the chef's ability to correctly poach an egg! Something that can't always be taken for granted around the world. The rooms have amazing views and the beds are very comfortable. I think the premium rooms would benefit from having nespresso machines instead of filter coffee, As is the standard these days. IHG status benefits were honoured and appreciated. This was my second long stay here and I would continue to recommend and stay again.

This hotel has so much going for it, lovely staff, amazing location, large site, nice breakfast options. Large rooms good soundproofing. Waking up to the sound of the waves breaking on the beach.
But management is not visible and poor. I appreciate there are Large staffing issues worldwide but housekeeping is an issue. This hotel is not cheap so to find dead insects in the elevator floors for 4 days in a row and no sign or even smell of washing, is not good enough. Paint chipped in various places on skirting board and wall in my room, again, a little maintenance goes a lot way bathroom very old fashioned decor and very small in relation to the size of the room No option to eat at night as restaurant was full with a private party. Bar staff were lovely but very young and no training evident. I was so looking forward to this stay but unfortunately I was disappointed.

This is a very nice hotel in a great location. Breakfasts are fantastic. The light rail station at Randwick that will take you into the city is 1.7km up the hill; fairly convenient. Parking is expensive, $50/night.
The real negative that we had is that because we were there for 5 nights we paid to have a larger room with a sea view and a balcony. This we got but (see below) the people in the adjacent rooms sitting on their balcony had a direct view into our room. We had to have the curtains drawn for any privacy. Defeats the purpose of having a sea view.

Hi, Sorry for the delay in replying. I wasn't aware of any major refurbishment planned for this year. However, I tried to look it up and it says new bathrooms for all rooms. There was some redecoration of the rooms going on when we stayed there, but it did not interfere with our stay.
If you are really worried I would telephone or email the hotel directly and ask, they should be able to give you a honest reply to your question. We thought that the hotel was very good, and probably the best in Coggee Beach, there were quite a few in our group, and we did notice that there was a big difference in the sizes of some of the rooms, the hotel was very accommodating and did let guests change rooms should they need to. Hope you have a wonderful time there, and make sure you pack some jumpers and jackets, we went at a similar time, and although it's Australia, the weather in Sydney is very unpredictable, some days very cold and the next too hot.
There are more places to choose from in the Coogee area.
