Spending a night in Cessnock, I was recommended to try the Royal Oak's restaurant 221. My wife and I had an entree of scallops and the Grimaud duck as main. A delight in presentation, in taste. Cooked to perfection. Couldn't leave without congratulating the chef.

If you are a beer drinker in the Hunter life is not easy. And then we discovered The Royal Oak Hotel on the main drag in Cessnock. We have seen many pubs that look great from the outside but then disappoint inside. Not The Royal Oak! The interior is friendly and inviting. There are comfy leather couches in between the...

Came today for a catch up with family. Staff were friendly. Ordered pizza and found it to me good quality and reasonably priced. Female bathrooms were very pink in color. Restaurant seemed quite. Nice little place

Went her for a lunch with our 3year old daughter. We did have lunch in the pub part, since we didn't want to go for a large lunch (there is also a restaurant part). The options on beers is very good also the wine was perfect (according my wife). Went for a burger and didn't regret my choice, good meat...

Arriving into the front bar (which is just a normal everyday country pub bar) just defies what is behind. It's almost like the lion, witch and the wardrobe the contrast is so dramatic. A full 5* restaurant experience, fantastic fresh, regionally inspired food. Friendly and efficient service. Amazingly generous portions. $66 for 3 courses. My only small gripe was I...

Our wineries weekend was made really special by this well run hotel. All staff plus the owner were so helpful and obliging. The food in the bar, cafe and restaurant were terrific, the atmosphere was great, the live music very enjoyable and nothing was too much trouble. A terrific spot for a group to stay.

Great food, FANTASTIC food actually. The Whitebait are exceptional. Amazing lamb shanks. The food was better than you find in the vineyard restaurants. Extensive and impressive wine list. Great staff, all capped off with a courtesy bus. What a find.

We visited this Hotel as it was recommended by a friend and were totally blow away by the service and the quality of the food. It's not in the heart of the vineyards but back in the Main Street of Cessnock but well worth a visit. We would highly recommend this Restuarant.
