Travellers' Choice

Gold Rush Inn provides the cleanest, well appointed, spacious guest rooms. The rooms have Kitchenette (with toaster, kettle, tea/coffee, utensils), On-suite Bathroom (with amenities) all to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. Breakfasts can be provided with dinner options close by. Parking is secure, off-road in front of the rooms, Free high-speed WiFi. Most rooms have views to the Mount Owen and spectacular scenic, colour contrasts on the barely clad surrounding mountains at sunset. The Gold Rush Inn is well positioned when exploring the region. I have stayed here before, and it was great. This time, I phoned them a week before and cancelled my stay. Well, I get a shock on my credit card statement which shows they took the night's accommodation out. I have and would never just not turn up without cancelling my booking. What they did was wrong. Now, they refuse to answer me when I have requested they refund me. Just be very careful about getting an email or something in writing from them to confirm that they did actually cancel your booking.

We received no advice of cancellation, we rang several times on the day of your arrival and left messages asking of your arrival time, there was no answer to our phone calls and no response to the messages that were left. There hasn't even been a phone call to our office querying the cancellation charge!!! The cancellation policy is very clear and also very fair - Free Cancellation up to 24 hours before the day of arrival. If you forgot to call us we can understand, but when there is no response to the messages left then there is no choice but to charge

As far as motels go, this was one of the better ones. Very friendly lady at reception. Room was modern and clean and the bed was nice and firm (just how we like it). Everything worked ok and it was a pleasant change to have bathroom towels that weren't white ! Other than hearing cars moving in the car park, the area was quiet. Overall, a good, well-priced place to stay.

Our room was very clean, with a very comfy Queen Bed, very quiet spot in Queenstown and kitchenette was fully stocked with microwave. I did a lot of research and glad we chose Gold Rush Inn. Close to all in town and Wilderness Railway Station. Would stay again.

Reception............COVID hit the hospitality industry hard, so i could not understand the POOR RESPONSE for the following. It rained all night and was cold, and OUR ELECTRIC BLANKET WAS BROKEN. So when the final reply came back........"You will have to sleep in the single bed" we we dumbfounded. I am 185 cm (6 ft 1) and have a disability.....The single bed was about 3 inches short of my feet.....If Management treat the people who pays them this way, maybe they are in the wrong business. people skills and customer service in these times should be at peak. ROOM..............Excellent with a lovely hot shower and very clean with all the mod cons Area................ Close to anything you need Would we stay here again............YES.
