We had 3 nights here and the location is great and central to Airlie Beach and all its activities. Staff friendly and happy to help out. Couple of things to note:
1. Quoted price when we looked at booking was in the end ex GST. GST was added to the price at check in. One to watch.
2. Beds are ok although you can feel the springs and they are low set. We had 2 queens in our room which worked ok.
3. Rooms have a bath/shower combo so if you are not one for stepping into a bath to have a shower then consider other options.
Other than that housekeeping was great. The views over the water were great. Grab the room with the larger balconies if you can.
Happy travels.

Started our Whitsundays holiday at this property.

Location is just great. Easy walk to Airlie Beach shops, food, and lagoon. And there was a small market just opposite on the weekend.

Room... look we were disappointed. We booked well in advance for a room with sea views and balcony and got given a disabled room with an small as hell unusable balcony but technically yes we technically had views but you couldn’t enjoy them so I was very annoyed we paid for something I don’t feel we really got.

We had a child with us and we were placed basically on top of the bar with live entertainment until late so really not an appropriate room allocation at all. So be aware when booking and staying with children the pub directly under is quite loud and getting her to sleep was difficult cause of this, so try stay on the other side of building.

The Room however was large. Tv was quite small for size of room.
I do have back issues so I mean I didn’t enjoy the beds either as they were quite hard. I do usually look for places that state they have quality comfort beds. So if you have back issues and need a softer bed this isn’t ideal.

Shower pressure was fantastic. Our bathroom was a disabled one so can’t really comment further on bathroom.

We were going to stay here again after a short stay at Hamilton Island but after our initial check in / room allocation experience we decided to stay elsewhere.

The Pub - underneath food establishment with live entertainment. Food was fantastic. Didn’t witness entertainment live but could hear it loud and clear from our room and the quality of the performers was good.

While our experience was disappointing mostly due to poor room allocation considering our occupants, we do feel this is a good place to stay. Location is winner.

REally, somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. We stayed in so many nice hotels while in Australia for a month, this was my least favorite motel/hotel (and not the least expensive). The location is absolutely fabulous in the center of town. If you like to party!, it's adjacent to a bar. Check-in ends at 8pm, they literally close up the office. We arrived at 8:10pm and we're able to check in at the bar. We were given an accessible room; it was a very basic room, with a very uncomfortable bed, one very small sink in the bathroom, no countertop in the bathroom and no bathtub. Careful, after a shower, the entire bathroom floor is very wet and slippery. There was no USB connections in the room. There was one desk chair in the room; no where else to sit (except the bed). The pool is very small, tucked in next to the parking lot. There was an error in how they charged my credit card at check-in, which they corrected with a trip to the check-in desk. They wanted me to hand over my credit card for them to take to a back room in another building; I said no, so they brought the credit card machine to the front desk. Staff was hit and miss on friendliness.

5 for location; 2 for the room.

Stayed here for three nights. Had a ocean view room. The view was lovely and I’m assuming that’s why the room was so expensive because the room itself was average at best for what it cost. I wish they had put a cafe blind or similar outside, because of where the room is you get a lot of wind and it’s impossible to sit out there. I can only assume they are going to do some renovations to the room soon as there was a coffee machine in the room that we were not allowed to use because they were for after the Reno?? Power point came away from the wall when you unplug things. The staff member who checked us in was nice however when I made a enquiry about the room to another staff member at reception received a very abrupt response. Didn’t dare make a complaint about anything else eg the power point, couldn’t be bothered with it. The pool was nice. The room smelt mouldy. I know it’s a warm climate but I’ve stayed in hotels in warmer climates and never had that problem. Also they are currently doing renovations downstairs. I’m all for improvements but they really should tell people when the booking comes in. If you want a quiet day by the pool it’s not going to happen until it’s finished. Would I stay here again? no. Found much nicer places for less.

Iconic hotel centrally located in Airlie Beach.
Fabulous beach views with visiting resident cockatoos greeting you on your balcony!
The well appointed rooms celebtrates the laidback 1970's and 1980's era of Airlie with decorated lifts and original music clips showing in rooms and the most amazing indoor/outdoor sports bar.
Rock bands on the weekend make this a very popular venue...meals are fresh and hearty.
Tip: when ordering a meal, select one that includes a side buffet which is good value.
Staff are cheerful and genuine.
Great place to stay.

(We stayed in the Superior King Room)

Good things!:
Location
Views from the balcony - ours overlooked the beach
Hospitality
Cleanliness of the room
In the centre of all activity yet quiet enough to get a good nights sleep
Wonderful pool
Daily cleaning service - restocked teas, coffees, biscuits, towels and made the beds.

Average things:
Pillows
Bedding
Carpet cleanliness - lots of air fresheners around to cover the cigarette smell
Size of cups in room

Poor things:
Bathroom cleanliness

Overall, even though the bathroom wasn’t as clean as it should be, we had a comfortable stay and were well accommodated.

Stayed in a suite so top floor and requested a quiet room. Unfortunately was placed right above "The Pub" which has live music on weekends and music playing every night, both only until about 10:00pm but if you try to sleep before then you might need earplugs. The rooms on the front of the hotel have lovely water views but as the hotel is only 3 floors high noise is unavoidable.

Speaking of the pub its a very well run place and a couple of the bands were excellent. Tried the food there and to be honest its pretty average and not worth the pricing.

I can't recommend the "Sports Bar" as in reality its a "Smoke Bar", I don't understand how they can allow smoking indoors but it seemed like almost everyone was smoking, with ash trays provided so it smelled pretty bad and we didn't stick around.

Even given the above I rate the place "very good", the staff were amazingly helpful and friendly and the rooms nice, maybe a little tired but clean and spacious. The location is also great too.

Overall its a very well run place but they don't miss a trick to extract your money, including a credit card fee for every drink.

Booked in for a single solo night stay after a weekend with friends on the islands. Check in went smoothly, the room was modern and clean and was everything I needed. Great location, very convenient having the restaurant and pub right there. The hotel itself was great.
The disappointment came upon check out when I asked where the lobby bathroom was, and WHILE I was in the toilet, the front desk receptionist charged the debit card on file without asking, even though I had already paid for my booking via booking.com.
During working out the mistake that was made, she attempted to tell me how manage my bookings and that I should have ‘amended/adjusted’ my original booking instead of cancelling and rebooking. However it’s my belief that that is none of her business to try to tell me how to book my travels, and little did she know I canceled for a reason as at that time I didn’t know I would be staying in Airlie beach.
She processed the refund on my card with 1 quick apology, making me feel like I was inconveniencing her. I said to her ‘lucky I hadn’t left yet’ and she muttered something inaudible under her breath. I now of course have to wait up to 7 days for that refund to be processed, along with the release of the $200 pre-auth on my debit card.
A very sour end to what would have otherwise been a 5star experience.

Hotel is very good.
It has been renovated recently.
Rooms are VERY CLEAN.
No mold, no dust, clean sheets and the bed...oh it is SO comfy.
There is a pub downstairs but we could not hear anything from our room. They offer live music, room service daily which is very good compared to some other places.
It is so nice to come back to our room and have fresh towels and room clean.

I could not reccomend this place highly enough.
My partner and I spent 4 nights here and we will definitely be back.

It was PERFECT!

The hotel does not provide airport transfers, however you can book online with Whitsunday 2 Everywhere or Whitsunday Transit & either company will drop you off at the hotel. I believe the cost $20 eachway approx. Kind regards Mark

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! The only resort still open on Long Island is Palm Bay Resort. I believe they can arrange a water taxi for guests.

Are there companies that take a smaller group out to the reef ?

If you want to go to the Great Barrier Reef only there is a large ferry service this area. Smaller companies with numbers of around 30 per boat go to Whitehaven Beach & the fringing reefs around the Whitsundays Marine Park.
