My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two separate nights in February 2020 before and after a sailing trip around the Whitsundays. The hotel is ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of the centre of Airlie Beach but still within a short 10 minute walk along the new boardwalk linking the town to the hotel and marina.

The common areas of the hotel have recently been refurbished to an exceptional standard including the reception area, stairs, lifts, bar, restaurant and pool areas. This we understand is the first phase of a much more comprehensive redevelopment that is ongoing.

The rooms on the other hand are in desperate need of a refurbishment. Don’t get me wrong, they are lovely rooms and were reasonably clean and the Ocean View rooms have a fabulous outlook over the pool and bay, however they are all very dated and tired now and in need of modernising. If the rooms are to be upgraded to the same standard as the common areas then future visitors are in for a real treat, but until then, be aware that the rooms are no more than functional.

The other matter to be aware of was the fact that in room 242A, the bathroom was completely open to the bedroom and so offering absolutely no privacy whatsoever to the user of the bathroom. This really isn’t a nice feature and needs to be considered in any future refurbishment. A separate toilet cubicle should be considered if the bathroom is to remain open plan like this.

We would definitely return but we would probably wait until the rooms are upgraded.

My husband and I stayed at the Coral Sea Resort for 2 nights in a Spa room with ocean views. This resort has recently been refurbished so everything is looking very very new and trendy. Our room was very spacious with a kitchenette and small lounge as well as balcony with spectacular sea views. On the balcony and also accessible from the bathroom was a round spa bath. Unfortunately the weather was cool and windy during our stay and we didn't get a chance to enjoy it - but in summer it would be a very indulgent way to pass the time. The queen bed was comfortable but on the firm side. The room is decorated in white and light blue with timber furniture and floors. There was complementary tea and coffee, small bar fridge and a handy microwave in the kitchen. The resort is right on the water's edge. There is a very nice pool area with separate pool and spa which overlooks the ocean. There is plenty of chairs and outdoor bean bags here too. The resort has it's own private beach and jetty and the restaurant overlooks this area. This is a great place for sunset drinks. The resort is an easy 5 minutes walk from the main shopping street of Airlie Beach where many restaurants are located. There is some limited undercover parking available at the resort. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A limited a la carte breakfast menu was included in our rate. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this resort and thought it was good value for money.

We had a three-night stay here for a very special private function that also took in New Year’s Eve, a pretty peaky tourist time especially for Airlie Beach. The staff at this resort must surely thrive on this as was apparent upon checking in. We were greeted cheerfully and enthusiastically. All staff consistently demonstrated this very same quality as we explored the facilities over the duration of our stay.

Our Ocean View Room was just right. A deep balcony overlooked the Whitsundays and a huge comfy bed ensured a restful sleep.

The Service staff was attentive but not intrusive. Our NYE function, which started on the poolside lawn, transitioned seamlessly to a reception on the magically decorated jetty due to the diligent and caring efforts of Stacey and Maddison. Hospitality Troopers!

Thanks to all the staff at Coral Sea Marina Resort. You made our first visit very memorable indeed, making us yearn for another.

Great location and looks like a resort, but needs lots of improvement. We had a renovated room, very nice, but the mattress was so hard, I am sure the floor was softer. We asked at reception and they said they were aware and they would check with house keeping? After 4 days I am glad we are not sleeping another night there. We were above the restaurant, nice balcony with ocean views, but for some reason the staff in the restaurant think it is a nightclub? We were woken every morning at 6 am with the ridiculous music being switched on and then this stayed on until around 10pm. Not sure why? Restaurant was staffed by back packers who were very nice but lacked training. Breakfast is included with a value up to $17.00 ? There are choices! But the bacon was cold everyday, no butter for the toast, and no staff to find any. The filtered coffee must be made in the dishwasher, it was terrible. I think breakfast choices could be better. Room cleaning was hit and miss. Bins not emptied, bathroom floor not mopped, cups, glasses not cleaned, backpacker staff with limited training. As stated great location great place, but not resort standards.

We loved our stay at the resort. We probably should have stayed mid week as the entertainment on the weekends which is promoted everywhere was pitched at a younger crowd and intrusive.
The menu is limited and the chef applies too much salt which detracts from his ability to cook the fish perfectly. It took three goes for the breakfast chef to get the eggs right.
By the way you are charged a dollar extra to have lactose free milk but if you bring your own you don't get a dollar off if you order black coffee to add your own milk. Also there is no bottomless cup for coffee.
I think that sums it up
It was the little things that detracted from being perfect
eg
Charged extra for lactose free milk
Their paperless order system that takes longer than writing a note at the customer point of the sale (it might save time on the back end of the sale)
The fact we had a full sink in the room but no cleaning teatowl or cloth and dishwashing liquid until the last day which we sacrificed toilet paper and a bath mat for that facility and the toilet brush was left in the toilet

The spa bath is a little small
All in all though, apart from the little things we had a lovely time.
Jarrod on the front desk is brilliant
Louis and Holly are an asset in the restaurant.
You need to take the salt away from the Chef.
Whatever you do
Don't order the twice cooked chips

First time in Airlie Beach. What a stunning location. Same for the hotel. Beautiful views depending what room/floor you are in. Short stroll to the many bars and restaurants.

The hotel is disappointingly dated, even in one of the refurbished rooms. Really need to update the patio furniture. The hard table chairs really are not meant to relax on and enjoy the view.

Staff in the reception area were devine and so lovely. The breakfast unfortunately served cold on both days. How can that be in this day and age?

So. To summarise:
great location
great restaurant staff
great stroll to town
ridiculously expensive
dated
food served cold
not deserving of room rate

The photos on trip advisor (and on hotels.com where we booked) do not do this place justice! The pool area and restaurant especially are beautiful and essentially brand new. The food from the Rocks Restaurant and Pool Club was also delicious and really reasonably priced - for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also had a fabulous time at the pool party on Sunday!
We ended up having to extend our stay here at the last minute (due to other accommodation falling through) and the staff were so so helpful in making sure we had somewhere to stay. We did have to change rooms twice, but this just meant we got to experience more of the hotel! All our rooms had balconies and sea views, including the apartment (which would be great for families). Beyond this, the staff were always so kind and helpful!
The hotel was in a great spot too - only 5 minutes walk into town via the boardwalk.
Our only criticisms would be that the internet was pretty bad, which made it really difficult to remote work (we wish we had brought a dongle). Also, in our last room (King Balcony Deluxe) there were very loud renovations right next to our room both of the days we were there, which wasn't very peaceful.
Otherwise, a FANTASTIC stay for such a great price! Definitely the best spot in Airlie beach!

Firstly, I would stay here again as it is clean, relatively modern and less than 7 minute walk to Airlie Beach, but there is none of the associated bustle.
Nice pool, mostly friendly staff, with one notable exception at the check-in / reception.
I was disappointed because at time of booking, we chose to pay for the cooked breakfast, which in itself was reasonable, but at time of check out there were 'additions' on the bill, - $14.00 for eggs and salmon, which were ordered, but nowhere did the upgrade offer was there an * or conditions apply.
At time of check-out, I simply politely stated ' I'll remember this if there is a next time'.
We have subsequently been sent an email stating that Coral Sea is reviewing their policy, but this did leave a sour taste, after what was otherwise an enjoyable 4 night stay.
We have since re

Our friends had a small intimate wedding at Coral Sea resort and we stayed for three nights. Before our stay we were contacted to confirm if we needed a cot and there had been a confusion with our booking being made for an infant and not a child. This was rectified immediately with no extra charge. Our ocean view room was decorated with coastal vibes, the view was outstanding and room ammenities working well and clean. The location is breathtaking, the pool looking out to the little white pier and sea and the restaurant serves delicious food. All staff were very attentive and accommodating for our whole trip. We will definitely be back!

Hotel was in a fabulous location. Restaurant food and service was exceptional. Only one complaint is the room didn’t have a very good view but I guess it was a garden view room so no complaints really. They did move us to a better room free of charge with a good view and we were very grateful but the bathroom smelled really badly of damp. We closed the door and suffered quietly, room 102. We loved the great service and nothing was to hard for them. I will be booking this hotel next time I’m at Airlie beach soon but I will upgrade to an ocean view room, it will be well worth the extra cost
