Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Motel is situated overlooking the Airlie Ferry Terminal and the smaller of the Airlie Yacht Marinas. The Terrace has views across Pioneer Bay and there is also cool and pleasant indoor dining. We ate one breakfast and four dinners here whilst staying at the Sebel Apartments just across the quiet residential road making parking easy if needed. The Sebel has no Restaurant . We thoroughly enjoyed the location, the meals and the service which was professional and friendly in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is varied though not huge and dishes are cooked to order, several having an imaginative individual tweak besides the usual favourite offerings. Breakfast on our first day after a late arrival was a life saver!. There is a good selection of wines, by bottle or glass and a fair choice of beers and soft drinks. A Kids' Menu is also available. During our stay we regularly noticed people trundling their cases over to the Ferry Terminal which could be quite a convenient option for some. If we return to Airlie we would certainly revisit Colonial Palms and meanwhile thank them for providing a happy and delicious experience.

I have to say my stay at Colonial Palms from September 22 to 24 was just lovely. The room was a fresh white with crisp cotton linen and lots of pillows. It was so inviting. I appreciated the 3 simple styled silver dispensers for shower wash, shampoo and conditioner to reduce waste too. Having the little balcony with a comfy spot overlooking the beautiful pool was lovely too. I was glad to be able to enjoy a delightful dinner on the deck with a complimentary glass of wine and not have to find somewhere elsewhere. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary continental tropical breakfast on both mornings too. While all these aspects were great, th most noteworthy part of my stay was the very warm welcome and genuine attentiveness of the staff. From Georgie's assistance with check in and Sean's awareness of my needs as a low vision guest I felt in capable, professional hands. Thank you to everyone who made my stay so wonderful. If you are thinking of staying here I happily recommend it

Clean, great pool, nice lobby and dining area. Liked the continental breakfast. Wifi in room wasn’t great. Great room off the pool, nice and big with a desk and patio seating. Decent amenities but real coffee (not instant) would have been awesome at breakfast.

We spent 2 nights here. The place looks pretty basic from the street but the lobby and food deck and pool area are really well done. The rooms are basic but clean and very well maintained. Bottom floor rooms open off a semi-private deck to the pool area. 2nd floor rooms have a private deck but no pool access. We had dinner on the deck on a Saturday night. We had reservations but hardly needed one. Food was great and the service was friendly, personable and fast. Great place for a quiet dinner.

Comfortable room with good facilities. A little away from the centre but easily walkable- though with luggage, worth the inexpensive taxi ride. Restaurant now open 7 days a week for dinner- lovely outlook and the food was good, if a slightly limited choice. Good continental breakfast included. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Had a night stay in Airlie before a trip to one of the islands and luckily found Colonial Palms. Our room was clean and fresh and the staff were friendly. The two pools were both great. The price was very reasonable, we had a continental breakfast included and we were only a 700m walk to town centre. Restaurant for dinner was pretty ordinary but the staff made up for it.

We are just finishing up 3 nights at the Colonial Palms and our stay way exceeded our expectations. We had a poolside King room, which was spotlessly clean and came with a kettle, toaster, a couple of plates, mugs, wineglasses, and silverware. Super convenient if you want to eat in your room! There was a delicious continental breakfast each morning with bread, cereal, croissants, fresh fruit, and yogurt. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating and the check-in and check-out were super easy. The motel is an easy 10 walk to the town centre, and is located across from the Port of Airlie. The swimming pool was refreshing and the pool area lush. We absolutely loved our stay here! We probably won't be back to Airlie Beach but if we were to return, we'd stay here again!

The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was great. Unfortunately only got to stay 1 night instead of 2 due to Virgin airlines flight cancellation. If I'm ever in Airlie Beach again I would definitely consider staying at the Colonial Palms again

Whilst we only had one night, we thoroughly enjoyed this place. The staff were welcoming, property clean and tidy, location superb, facilities far in excess of our expectations. All this with terrific value for money compared to the Coral Seas Resort we have moved to. Would highly recommend Colonial Palms to any one visiting Airlie Beach and want value for money and a pleasant and comfortable stay.
