Club Wyndham is spread over a large area, positioned in several blocks of spacious apartments nestled in the hillside overlooking Airlie Beach. Access is steep in all directions, but there is a courtesy buggy service to transport Guests around within the resort and regular daytime shuttle service to/from the town. The pool and and restaurant are in the main block, with reception. I was lucky and stayed within this block so access to these amenities was nearby. Beautiful pool, although there are only a few sun-loungers due to the confined space around it. Apartments are well equipped incl washing machine, drier etc but it's apparent some updating is required, (Air con temperamental, tv are tiny, internet access problematic, boardwalk to town closed and manuals on equipment missing etc) Unfortunately works were in progress during my stay including noisy skips being filled/ delivered/collected and building supplies being dumped infront of the restaurant at 7am as breakfast was being enjoyed! (poorly scheduled). The latter was plentiful and extensive; a full cold and hot menu on a self-service basis. Reception not open until 7am which makes early checkouts complicated. As a solo traveler my stay was more expensive as the cost is on apartment basis and could have accommodated 2 persons. Staff were very friendly and always happy to help. Thanks particularly to Stephanie & Cody.....

If you’re arriving in the dark, DON’T if you’re in a small car be prepared to feel like you’re about to tip nose over boot!

We arrived at 7.30pm and missed the entrance to this hotel. It’s so dark that you don’t see the signage until you’re half way up the hill then it’s not blatantly obvious that you have to take a sharpish right up another hill to reception.

Be prepared for your car engine to struggle and sound like it’s about to explode with the effort!

Checking in was a fairly easy affair they give you nifty eco friendly key cards made of bamboo!

Finding your room might be another matter depending on where you are!

The room itself is as fairly large, a super king bed, a sitting room/kitchen area and hidden away in a cupboard near the front door is a washing machine and upside down dryer!

The spa bath was welcome after a long drive, the shower water leaked onto the tiled floor.

The kitchen area has all the necessary equipment you’ll need and there is even 3 little sachets of laundry detergent to do washing.

Pool towels are also provided.

My biggest issue is the hill. It sits atop a very, very steep hill and whilst the hotel offers you a courtesy bus into the main shopping street if you want to go for a wander it’s nigh on impossible. So this hotel is NOT for the faint hearted or mobility impaired.

The upside is you do get superb views across the bay.

There are plenty of shops and bars in the main tourist strip it is a tad busy and quite loud at night so we just avoided it.

There are notices on the beach about not swimming in the water due to jellyfish.

The weather is pretty hot but muggy just now but nothing that we didn’t expect.

All in all the hotel was ok I’d advise staying at the Airlie Beach Hotel if you have any disabled travellers with you who we e just found out have really good facilities for disabled people!

Drinks at Happy Hour are $15 per cocktail and $8 for a beer there are booze shops in town if you decide to buy your own.

Breakfast was included in our booking and it was pretty standard but if you want a decent coffee you have to pay for it.

You’re asked to take your own trash out with you when you leave which is a new one on me.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquility Airlie Beach is not it, if you just need a base to slump into this will do you although there are cheaper places out there.

It wasn’t awful but I wouldn’t return.

Hi LindamM524OZC, Thank you for your review and sorry to have taken a long time to reply. I was happy to read you mostly enjoyed your stay, we agree that the views are great but that comes at the price of the hill which we agree is very steep, however, we do assist guests as best as possible and have golf buggy's to collect guest or provide transfers to and from the bottom of the hill at request, we will ensure this is communicated to guests more clearly. Thank you for bringing the issue of the shower leaking to our attention, we are currently installing new shower screens to all bathrooms and it should prevent any future issues with water leaking to the tiled floor. Since your stay we have refreshed our breakfast menu which now provides more selection for guests and has been well received to date. Thank you again for leaving your detailed review. Kind Regards, David

We stayed at Club Wyndham for 3 nights, our room was nice and spacious, you basically pay for the space as there were some minor things that could use a bit of a clean/refresh. We personally had a really great view of the marina and the room was definitely to standards. The only downfall of our stay was we paid to have breakfast included, it was ok, but you can only order one item off the menu and my partner being someone who needs a larger meal just wasn't completely satisfied. I think a buffet option is always good for breakfast included as people feel they get their value for money whereas this breakfast we did not. We actually ended up eating out 2/3 mornings as we just weren't satisfied with the options and portions of the menu. We really liked the apartment as we could wash our clothes after being out in the salt water all day. Other than that we would definitely stay here again! Nice quiet spot and nice size room with a lovely morning and afternoon view.

i travelled with my parents and I booked a room for three people. I don’t know where to begin with, so let’s start with some points:

• Reception:
1. They are available from 7 am to 9 pm, I didn’t know that. Wyndham it’s always 24 hs.
2. The only time they called us was to make the payment for the extension of the booking. I payed to Cody, who was reading a book at the front desk ( very professional ) the same day they asked for the payment. The next day when I asked for new keys Stephanie went crazy asking about the payment and Cody asked me again room number and everything when I payed him the day before.
3.Misleading prices. I booked with the webpage and I payed 435 Aus dollars. When I talked to the front desk they told me 495 Aus. I did it online and payed 435 Aus again.

• Breakfast
1. Very basic, no fruit salad, pancakes, berries sauce. Only fruit, cake, artificial and concentrated juice, basic cereal. Regarding the hot food only 8 options and four of those changed daily.
2. Breakfast it’s near reception so if you stay in one the buildings that are really up hill it will be really difficult for elderly people. I saw elderly people with walking stick to struggle but it shows reception don’t care.
3. To my surprise when I asked for the invoice, I got the payments summary and to my dismay, breakfast cost $20 per person.

• Housekeeping
1. You only get service if you stay 8 or more days. We stayed 6 days. I asked Cody and he told me to pay in order to get housekeeping service. So I asked him what do I do with the garbage. He told me leave it outside someone will pick it up. After two days, We checked out and the thrash was outside.

• Location
1. Even though it’s in a privileged position with nice views it’s way too up hill. There is only a shuttle bus from the airport. If you come late at night don’t expect no one to help you
2. When I got there, I asked about the shuttle bus to the town center and the girl told me there were two times available only 9 am and 4 pm.

•Room
1. Very outdated, the furniture is dirty and some rusty.
2. There was static on the phone of the room.
3. If you want to order room service there is no menu in the room.

I uploaded some photos so you can get some info before booking this place and make a better judgement at the time

To start off with, we booked this place under the name of The Peppers and never got so much as an email informing us that they changed names. Then, there was never anyone at reception. We had to wait 5 minutes then go to the bar to get someone to check us in. The guy who checked us in gave us no info about the place, services etc.
The room was ok, but the lounge in the balcony was ripped so that was not usable. The "free wifi" didn't work so I had to hot spot from my phone.
Not to mention that they never serviced our room. We had to request new towels, shower gels etc. We were told that they serviced rooms when they were the peppers but not as club Wyndham. This was ridiculous given the amount we played for the place.
Also, just an fyi, there is a massive hill you need to climb if you want to get to to the hotel from town. I thought I'd mention it just in case you thought of booking and were carrying an injury or are elderly.
The only redeeming feature was the views.
I would strongly not recommended this place

Hello Chris, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Club Wyndham Airlie Beach. We are sorry we did not exceed your expectations. Wyndham purchased the property mid December and your booking was passed onto us from the receiver. We are sorry to hear you were not advised of this change however we did communicate this information to all the contacts which were passed over to us. The items you have raised were pre-existing at the time we took over the resort. However we are pleased to report since purchasing the property we have already started improving the resort along with the guest experience. This includes recruiting staff who have local knowledge and are guest focused, a refurbishment plan for apartments and facilities, along with an upgrade of our WIFI connection. We feel confident if you are to provide us another opportunity in the future we would exceed your expectations given these dramatic improvements. Yes, we are at the top of a hill yet we do boast the best views of Airlie Beach and have complimentary shuttle bus options to and from town to save our guests legs if they do not want to walk up it. Regards, Kaydee George Acting General Manager

We stayed at what was “Peppers Airline Beach” a number of times over the years and was always our favourite go to place when in Airlie Beach. We stayed in mid 2019 with family from the UK and it was still as we remembered. More recently we stayed mid Feb 2020 and we will not be going back.

The rooms were tied, damaged and they clearly don’t have a no party on balcony policy. Lunch/dinner was a bit blah and starts quite late but breakfast was feral, even asking for plates seemed to be a burden so we ended up checking out then and there for a Maccas stop on the way home.

We don’t expect 5 star resort service or food but when you pay a bit of a premium, you expect at least some sort of service or standard.

My family have just returned home from a 4 night stay at Club Wyndham. We originally booked for a Aircraft owners get together before coved hit. Once we got the ok to travel again we were all straight onto Clyb Wyndham who were able to accommodate about 30 of us. We stayed in the 3 bedroom units and can not fault the facilities in any way. We had cooking facilities and the kids lived having a bathroom in each bedroom.

A very big thank you to Kate and her wonderful team who worked so hard to make sure each and everyone of us had an amazing experience. I cannot recommend this resort more highly and I cant wait to stay here again both for pleasure and business.

We stayed 4 nights in what was reportedly a refurbished room, well yes it was painted but that is it. The holes in the bedroom curtains, mould in kitchen louvers, the bedding was requested to be KKQ but only K Q and 2 singles, no art work or bedheads, the bottom of the lounges were all ripped apart, the dishwasher not fitted so it falls out from the cavity, 2nd bedroom has a glass frosted door to the bathroom and the light from the outside shines through all night. The room is also not serviced each day only after 8 days. For $560 per night i was expecting Myers or David Jones but instead it was $2 shop. And breakfast at $25 for a big breakfast only 1 bacon and 1 chipolata very sad and the mushroom cooked in vinegar was so bad. We spoke with reception on many occasion during our stay and were told that management would contact us but that did not happen, i had to call their head office to get to speak with a manager Kate who did say sorry and promised to email me but that also did not happen a week later. sad to say but you can get much better service and price closer to the water and town.

One of my favorite resorts, the easy use of many things such as pools and games were excellent. The views were beautiful, as it’s situated on top a mountain right next to the beach. The rooms itself were stunning, each room set out perfectly with everything clean. They really overdid themselves. There are hand sanitizer stations situated everywhere you go, and the resort is perfect to stay even in these times. 10/10

The view was lovely but you have to work for it. A more regular shuttle into town would have been appreciated.
The room was spacious but average. The dishes weren’t clean, nor was the floor (our feet were black just walking around the room). The bathroom was mouldy and toilet seat would not stay up.
We did appreciate the washer and dryer in the room but that’s about it.
The wifi was incredibly slow and the tv didn’t get all the free to air channels.
We advised reception of some maintenance issues in the apartment and they advised us that they would be fixed the next day. We stayed 5 nights and never saw anyone.
The food at the restaurant (when it was open) was below average. Staff didn’t know much about the menu and we were wrongly advised on what the dishes were. The breakfast was the same 5 menu items each morning. We craved variety and gave up on ordering the undercooked eggs. Our breakfast was included in our stay however, it was the first place I’ve stayed where this did not include barista coffee. We had to buy our own coffee each morning. On our last morning, we were made to wait 40mins for our breakfast and missed the morning shuttle to town as a result. They did not provide another shuttle so, on our insistence, a staff member drove us in a buggie part way and then we lugged all our luggage on foot.
Some staff were lovely but some showed no initiative and seemed bored and indifferent.
I personally don’t think the Club Wyndham is value for money. It also doesn’t resemble a resort as the facilities are on par with a 3 star hotel. I would suggest the company market this accomodation as self contained rental apartments. They should also advise guests of the steepness of the hills so people with mobility issues are well informed.
