Detailed Reviews
Kind of got the feeling like the owners had made their money and were now lifestyling it now. Property was in need of a decent clean and some proper maintenance....but you cant beat the location.
We had an upstairs room and had plenty of space plus a nice area to sit outside with a peak of the lagoon. Bed was okay, bathroom needed a good scrub, kitchen seemed new (and great facility to have) but table & chairs were all broken.
Signs up around the room didnt give an air of hospitality - they wont clean your room, take your rubbish out or make your beds during your stay and you will be charged if you dare to leave any dishes unwashed or not put away!
Downside of location is that there is a nightclub opposite and lots and lots of noise on weekend nights. But on the plus side the lagoon is at your door as is the supermarket and all of the bars and restaurants.
Might stay again but its pretty expensive for what you get.

We arrived there at 8 p.m. We called the hotel at very short notice to book a room. Check in is available till 6 p.m. so a kind woman told us that the key would have been in the key box at our arrival. In fact, we found our key and our (free) car park (the hotel was full so there was just one very little space for our car, but luckily there was one!) Very unfortunately, our experience was a nightmare that night! The air conditioning was off, so the room was really hot. When we switched on the air conditioning, it was freezing in one room and still hot in the other one. Unfortunately, we found a big dead insect in the room. Everywhere, we found notice that it was guests' responsability to leave the apartment in the same clean condition as on arrival (the room was quite squalid, actually). We were upset and began to take a picture of everything, bad walls and chairs (and we took a picture of the insect, of course), There was a notice that the sheets would have been refreshed on the 7th day of your stay, the towels on the 4th day of your stay (it was summer and it was really hot, we were two people and just two towels were provided). Actually, further towels were available, for hire! 3AUD per towel. But the worst was yet to come. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday. There were a lot of young guys in the hotel, upstairs (our unlucky room was downstairs) they were celebrating a birthday party until very late (till 2 p.m.) and our room wasn't definitely soundproofing. Furthermore, the hotel is in the very town centre, which is great, but on a Saturday it could be your nightmare, due to the great number of pubs and bars all around the hotel.
In the next morning we went to the reception, I was really upset.
I think the man at the reception had no doubt about that. I showed him the photo of the insect and told him what happened. He understood. He changed our room. He didn't charged anything for our nightmare night. He gave us a great room. It was upstairs, in the corner and above the beautiful lagoon pool. It was quiet, no notice, no insects, no noise, no squalid things. We had been travelling through Australia for more than one month from Italy, and could sleep and enjoy the beautiful place.
It depends on the room (and maybe on the date of your stay). We appreciated the understanding, the change of our room and the last room. At the end, we have a good memory of our stay at Whitsunday on the Beach.

We stayed here for a week. This accommodation is in a great location. Central to everything in Airlie Beach, lagoon, shops, bars, restaurants etc.
The rooms themselves were a bit run down, and ours had a lot of ants.
It says they are serviced daily, but ours were not for the duration. On our second and fourth day we were offered fresh sheets and towels.
But our rooms didn’t get beds made or toilet paper, complimentary coffee refilled.
Also the internet was in a bit of a black spot. This wouldn’t have mattered except the weather bucketed down for about 5 days, so we were confined for that duration.
Overall it was a satisfactory place to sleep. Could do with some updating and a bit more care for the price you pay.

Stayed 5 nights , fairly priced , great location in the middle of Airlie Beach. Backs onto the beach front lagoon. Rooms a little dated but a good bed, a great shower. The atmosphere is good as its right in the main street with walking to all amenities. Park your car and pack your car keys away until you leave. Would stay here again!

Stayed here after another location and were happy with our stay. Room is ok with good kitchen. Location is spot on and having key access to lagoon is outstanding. Staff are super friendly and wonderful. Definitely recommended to stay here.

We arrived early and had a great friendly reception. Apartment spacious and well equipped, with direct access to lagoon and nightlife. Area felt safe and apartments were secure behind locked gates. Lagoon great with the warmest water ever! Would definitely return and stay longer next time

To begin with we were very impressed with the people and our stay.
When we checked out of our room we went to do some shopping in Airlie. I realized I had left $150 behind in the unit we were staying in. I rang the lady and told her I had left it behind. She advised me to come back and have a look.
When I returned she told me she had already been in the room to have a look and it was not there. I thought this was strange so asked to have a look for myself.
The room had already been cleaned and miraculously it had disappeared.
I am 100% sure I left it there as are the 2 others I was with.
Also my friend left his shoes in the unit and when I returned to get my money they did not mention finding any shoes. I saw the lady look in a bag and put it down. This is where the shoes were.
Today (day after) I have rung the manager. He laughed and said ring the cops if you want. Not professional at all.
I find this really disappointing and it makes me sick how dishonest people can be.
Being a house keeper myself, if we found $150 and kept it for ourselves we would be fired on the spot.
This ruined a great weekend spent with my partner.

Response from airliebeachgirl, Manager at Whitsunday on the Beach
Responded 3 June 2014
Thank you for your review. As per our phone call we have cctv footage of our whole complex and we have viewed all the footage. The 3rd person you had in your room was the only person to be in the room by himself for a period of time? You may wish to have a chat to him as we can not do anything as he was a registered guest of yours. As per the shoes they were posted back to the address on the registration card which is standard procedure for property left behind in rooms.
