Our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights at Elysium (we switched to this property after another vendor canceled us with 2 weeks notice, after we already left for our trip). Our 2 bedroom apartment was modern, clean and tidy, nice amount of space for our family of 4 with 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen and laundry in unit. The location is fantastic- short walk to the main area with restaurants and small shops, beach, short drive to grocery market. There's a parking garage and pool in the complex. Stacey was super friendly, helpful, responsive. She recommended Vivo for dinner which we enjoyed. I would definitely recommend a stay at Elysium.
Disliked · Bedrooms of our unit faced the street and were noisy with cars and trucks early in the morning so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

We are staying in apartment 318, a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the top floor, with wrap around balconies and views of the mountains, with the best sunset view in Palm Cove. This apartment is one of a small apartment complex only 200 metres from the beach and the restaurant life of the beautiful Palm Cove village. The amenities in the apartment are superb with very comfortable beds, indoor outdoor dining, a very well appointed kitchen with updated appliances, a large smart TV in the living area and TVs in 2 of the bedrooms. Outdoors within the complex is a pool, spa and seating. This is a wonderful apartment to stay with family or friends. Phone Stacey if you would like to make a booking in this very comfortable apartment and enjoy a holiday in Palm Cove. Ph: (07) 4059 1144

Room was clean, very good location and room was nicely situated in the complex. Would recommend to those travelling to Palm cove as it offers a relaxing location away from the main drag whilst still feeling in the heart of this beautiful little town. Pool can be very crowded at times and the toilet did not flush fantastically. Apart from that would recommend

Absolutely horrible experience. Lifts broke down, emergency phone didn't work, we called after hours number. When we eventually got hold of someone, they rang us back 30mins later, while we were still stuck in a sweltering hot lift, and questioned us whether we were even staying at this hotel and said we gave them the wrong lift number. THERE IS ONLY 1 LIFT.
Even hung up on us, becuase i said f@$&, after 40mins, its the least I could have said.
Never stay here.

The apartment we stayed in was well appointed, clean and spacious. The balconies were generous which is exactly what you need for a tropical getaway. There is a nice walking track which takes you through to Clifton beach around the corner which is a must if you like a bit of exercise.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment 318. It was a beautifully appointed apartment with a large kitchen with all the mod cons, indoor and outdoor dining. Plenty of outdoor seating on spacious balconies with great views of the mountains and bush land. Highly recommend and will be back. Stacey a great help with booking.

I chose to stay at this place because of the great reviews and location. Unfortunately we did not enjoy a positive stay. I want to be fair about this though and say that we were most happy with the apartment itself, it's cleanliness and so on. But I would never stay there again. Why?
1. We booked a long time in advance and requested a mountain view rather than looking over the roofs of the pub next door. When we checked in, we were looking at roofs. I phoned and asked the man if there had been a mistake - he claimed he didn't know anything about it but that he could tell me they were fully booked.
2. Next morning, I was asleep mid-morning (had been ill for several weeks) when I woke to a sound. I got up out of bed and walked into the lounge when I saw two strangers (men) standing in the kitchen, working on something under the sink! I quietly walked backwards and got back into bed and waited until they left.
3. Tried to use the dishwasher the first evening - it smelled like it had water sitting in it for a while - not really nice. Anyway, started it up and half the apartment lost power. As it was late evening, we waited till the morning. Phoned to report it and phone rang out - then answering machine and I left a message. Nearly 2 hours later, no return call so I phoned again. When I asked whether my message had been received the lady said 'Oh, I haven't checked the messages'. I said what was wrong and she came up and flicked the circuit breaker and all was well. I tried to start the dishwasher again and it blew. When I phoned to say it had blown, I was asked what appliances I was using as well. I said my son had just made toast and was told that was the reason we had no power. As it turned out, she was not able to get it working and an electrician was called. So then I had another person in the room for an hour or so working on that. When he went to leave he said we needed a plumber. At that point, I left because I didn't feel like spending any more time in my $300 / night apartment with repairmen.
4 The clincher for me - I can appreciate that things go wrong sometimes with appliances etc. One expects that. What I don't appreciate is when the caretakers of the property have no sense of customer service. After returning to the apartment, I dropped into the office to see if the plumber had been. Yes! I thought I would take that opportunity to express my disappointment about my experience to date.
I was most distressed about being awaken to find two strange men in my room. When I mentioned this, the male caretaker said, well what did you expect us to do. The Plumber was here - he had been organised the night before and I needed him to fix it. I said, why didn't you tell us you had a plumber coming????? He went on to say that they phoned before they came into the apartment but no one answered. I said that the phone had not run or I would have awoken. I was then accused of turning off the phone which of course I hadn't. But that was not it - he went on to say that when they got to the apartment, they knocked on the door and no one answered - Yes I said that would be because I was asleep!
It gets better! He went on to say that when they came into the apartment, he saw that someone was asleep in bed and he walked over to the door and said hello but the person didn't move. At this point, the female caretaker said that she had feared that someone might be dead in the bed! So, they know I am asleep in bed but decide to do the work anyway!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!
After we argued about whether this was appropriate behaviour or not, I moved on to say that we were also disappointed not to have be given the mountain view apartment we booked. As soon as I mentioned that, the male caretaker said 'Oh, I get it - you are just angry because you didn't get the room you wanted!!! I couldn't believe it. The lady then said she couldn't do anything about it because before we arrived, the owner of the unit called and said he was coming so they had to move us. My question: Why didn't you contact us and let us know???? and why did the male caretaker not tell me this the first evening when I called to enquire rather than saying he didn't know?
At this point, I started to feel upset - I couldn't believe the absolute lack of insight these two were displaying - everything was my issue - not theirs and when I said, what ever happened to customer service - you know, the customer is always right? The male caretaker raised his voice and said, 'that's not the way we do things here and if you don't like it, you can leave right now".
All this for $300 per night - so much for the splurge in the best accommodation we could have - the apartment is bricks and mortar - what makes a place is people and the people at this place need to go back to caretaker school. The way I was treated was extremely poor conduct - I have never experienced this kind of behaviour in any accommodation anywhere in the world. Good luck to you!
PS -the apartments on the root top side are no where near worth the price - the glare off these five or so very big white roofs plus the ventilation that is coming out of them makes for a less than tropical view.
After this experience, I had a look at the security in the apartment. The door from the hallway has an ordinary push button door lock but that is it. There is no dead bolt, there is no chain or nothing at all to provide any additional security. In addition, the underground parking is open all day long so anyone can get on the elevator and go up to any of the apartments and could very easily break in. I went on to

We are very disappointed to hear that Patricia C did not enjoy her stay with us, all we can say to this review is that if there is a emergency problem (and especially with water & electricity which do not mix ) this problem has to be fixed straight away for the safety of our guests, unfortunately it seems that Patricia C didn't agree with this fact, hence the review. As for all the other comments we will leave this for our future prospective guests to judge after reading all the other reviews, sometimes you just can't please everyone, and emergencies like this are our top priority for the continuing safety of our lovely guests.

Firstly for the record. I contacted their office and asked for a last minute, discounted price, as we were travelling during a very quiet period (just after the kids returned to school, in the last week of January). I was offered $600 for 3 nights, or $750 for 6 nights, in a 2 bedroom suite (for my wife and 2 adult daughters). I accepted the 6 night price and paid for it immediately rather than pay the 25% deposit and pay the balance on arrival (ie. the next day).
We were given a 2 bedroom apartment on the third floor with views overlooking the local tavern (the tavern has an expansive, flat roof and situated just below us). Beyond the tavern roof are a bunch of other apartments and houses in the area. This view is very, very ordinary. Actually, that’s being polite … it was just ugly!
However, when I opened the balcony doors, I was hit by a wave of hideous smells. The smell was revolting and I promise you that I had a gag. Yes, it made me feel queasy. I then waited for my wife to open the balcony door and check it out for herself … I got the same response. Also, we walked into our apartment from a hallway that didn’t seem to have any air circulation at all, into a nice apartment (with a horrible balcony view/smell). It just felt like we were confined to the apartment only. It wasn’t inviting at all (the apartment and the complex) and not what I was hoping for, especially for a holiday. Oh joy!
Now, remember I asked for a cheap price … and I guess I shouldn’t expect anything less, but we were given the less salubrious room available. (I was told that some of the unit owners, of the 20 unit block complex, are willing to reduce their prices to get people into them. The 20 units are privately owned and are managed by a husband-wife team). So, you get what you pay for … and we got the most disgusting outlook and smelling room that you can imagine!
So, I went to the manager and asked what the heck the smell was. She said that she couldn’t smell it but if there was a smell then it was probably the next door tavern cleaning their grease trap. Well, I reckon they were cleaning their sewer trap instead. It was disgusting.
I actually asked, for the first time in my 30 years of travelling, for the return of my money. I wanted to leave this ordinary place as it wasn’t anywhere close to what I was expecting. I have to say that for the first time ever, the TripAdvisor comments had led me astray. However, I was told that “it was impossible to get a refund” as I had already paid her the money (the day before). I couldn’t understand why it was “impossible” to refund my credit card, especially because the room was disgusting and we had only just walked in and out. And credit card refunds are actually possible; it’s just a button on the machine.
Anyway, it wasn’t to be and to her credit, she immediately moved us across the hallway into a similar sized 2 bedroom apartment. Thankfully she did this, because I would have just left the place and would have worked out a way to get my money back at a later date.
Now our new apartment (facing West) had a truly lovely view of the mountain. The apartment was very inviting and had all the things that you would require in an apartment. It was a shame that despite the entire complex being empty, save for one other apartment, that she initially gave us a room with a disgusting outlook and smell. If only she had placed us in the better room, we would not have been exposed to the horrible other side of the complex.
Oh, but as the second room had a king bed made up, she “had to charge” me $10 for her to split the bed into 2 single beds (for my 2 daughters). It was a charge for replacing clean king bedding with clean separate bedding, for 2 beds. Quality joint this!
Other comments. The pool is nice, but not inviting either. It is surrounded by 3 levels of concrete walls and windows. It does have a nice outlook to the west. It has 14 chairs for people to use. It would be too crowded if the complex was full. We joined another couple in the pool one day and it felt like we were intruding on their space. It is the size of a standard backyard pool. I can assure you that it is no resort pool, just a simple pool. Also, pack your own beach towel as you are not permitted to use the apartment’s towels in the pool area. BUT wait, you can rent another towel for pool/beach purposes.
Noise. The property is situated on a corner. Whilst I cannot comment on the noise from the tavern (right next door) there is definitely traffic noise from the 2 roads. Our apartment was in the middle of the property. The road below our apartment has a slight hill, where it meets a T-intersection. So as cars, bikes, trucks go up the hill, they need to drop into a lower gear to stop. Then as they turn right, to head away from Palm Cove, they accelerate hard. So yes, if you get the nice apartment facing west, the trade-off is traffic noise. Also, the drive-thru bottle shop exit, is on the third side of the complex and there are lots of cars, bikes, trucks leaving (making lots of noise) too. The noise is much softer if you close the balcony doors. (The noise only kept we awake for one night, as I got used to it).
FYI, if you picture the complex on the 4 sides. It has one side dedicated to the “beautiful” tavern. One side is the driveway exit to the tavern’s drive-thru bottle shop. One side is a road, leading down to the beach (eventually). And one side is a cross street, which is very busy.
Finally, there are many handy little tips on pieces of paper (from the management) located all throughout the complex to help you. Such as, do not open the window in the hallways (due to the tropical rain). Do not take glass etc to the pool; no visitors allowed; Don’t do this; blah blah. (Perhaps they don’t get many adults staying in the complex?). But the best one to laugh at (and take seriously) is the one that if you leave the apartment (after your holiday) and don’t clean the entire kitchen stuff OR take the bins out … then they will charge extra. Yes, you must leave the apartment spotless or you will be charged for it. We weren’t certain if we needed to launder the bedding as well? This was a first for us as we have never stayed at a property where they demanded you to clean the kitchen before departure. Oh, what a special place this is. I thought that when you stay at places for a fee, then this fee included the cleaning process … not here! I think their cleaner might be getting a bit lazy and demanding … time to change cleaner?!?!?
So here are my tips: 1. If you book a room here, absolutely demand a room on the western side. If you get a room overlooking the tavern, you will NOT like it. It’s my promise. The outlook is rubbish. 2. If you book, only pay your deposit upfront. You are expected to pay the balance on arrival. So DO NOT pay your balance until you check your room offered. Sometimes it might be worth walking away from a 25% deposit!! 3. If you are an avid user of Tripadvisor (like me) perhaps be very careful of places that receive 5 star reports from the same people. I am pretty certain that at least one or more of their reviews are from the actual owners of the 20 units. Unit owners (or their friends) normally visit their property once a year … and guess what rating they would give on each visit?! 4. Before staying, read the negative reviews on Tripadvisor. 5. Perhaps, look to stay somewhere else, you will do better than this place. 6. If you stay here, bring along a beach towel. Or pay their fee. 7. If you want to stay near the beach, look at other places.
Finally, we decided to leave the place after 4 nights (despite paying for 6). Obviously I didn’t ask for a refund for the 2 nights as I was happy to burn it and move on. Actually there is a warning in the apartment about leaving early, as NO REFUND WILL BE GIVEN. Maybe this happens regularly? But, I still had to pay the $10 for swapping the bed linen though. But as she didn’t have change, I got away with only paying $5 for it. What a classy joint! And it’s funny, but I wouldn’t even pay that price to stay another night.
FYI, we headed to Port Douglas for a return visit to the Mandalay Resort. It cost a little more than this place and it is multiple times better! And gee it was a like chalk and cheese, so relaxing and inviting, unlike Elysium.
Footnote: The manager always has interesting responses to all of the negative comments/reviews on Tripadvisor. I cannot wait for her response(s) to my review. Remember, we all don’t look through rose-coloured glasses. It is just my opinion and sorry if the truth offends. Also, the 2 star rating was a unanimous decision by my family (of 4 adults). It is a very rare "low" Tripadvisor rating from me.
I hope this long review helps with your decision.

We travelled to Palm Cove from Sydney. A few other details are included in this review. A car for four days would have been about $250. The bus one way from the airport is $22 per person. The taxi cost was $67. We chose a taxi for speed and convenience as we had no desire to use a car. This is a small resort style town. A car is not needed unless you want to venture about.
We stayed in a two bed, two bathroom apartment. Number 213. The owner of this apartment has spared no expense in stocking out the kitchen. There was every piece of cooking equipment and utensils that you could need. A full fridge and freezer. A laundry room.
Coles is a twenty minute walk and a two minute taxi ride home with your shopping. There is a tavern next door and a bottle shop.
You are 150m from the beach.
We will, without a doubt return to the Elysium Apartments. In fact I this will be a yearly treat for us when Sydney is cold.
The manager of the apartments is extremely helpful. She showed us a three bed so that we could consider coming back with our adult children. Three bed apartments have the best balconies.
Eating out in Palm Cove is not cheap. A standard meal is $22 dollars. The tavern next door and Surf Club do $17 specials. We did not use the OMG cafe at the other end of the Esplanade but they advertise $5 meals if you buy a drink.
We could not recommend these apartments more highly.

Hi Cath,
By staying at the Elysium Apts you can use our lovely pool anytime you wish, with the pools at Sea Temple you can use them anytime providing you are purchasing from the Bar or Restaurant.
Parking under our building which has a height restriction to 2.1 metres. There is parking around the back for cars higher but it is not under cover though.
Hi,
Our best rate for an extended stay would be $290 per night in a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment.
That particular period is our high season and generally fills up quickly.
Kind regards
Sharyon Murphy
Thanks for your inquiry. Our holiday complex is only 200 metres from the Beach and main esplanade and all the touristy thing to do. We are only 25kms from Cairns itself, all the tour operators will pick you up from our door. I would suggest a 2 bedroom apartment for your family, if you would like to book direct please call me on +61740591144
