Detailed Reviews
We only stayed two nights in a 1 bed apartment and were very happy with our stay. It was clean and tidy and met our needs.
This is more like staying at a nice motel than what I would personally call a resort but the prices reflect this. The units are individually owned and speaking to other guests there seemed to be a bit of variation in quality. In our unit none of the crockery or cutlery matched, which is fine (it was all clean and functional) but sort of reflects the character of the whole place which was friendly, clean and cheerful if a little ad hoc in places.
With four pools we were always able to swim, often having a pool to ourselves or almost. Pools were all spotlessly clean and well layer out.
The windows in the main room only have louvre blinds and no glass or insect mesh. I think this would get annoying for a longer stay especially in warmer months or wet season. It meant the space was quite dark if you left them closed and too warm if you had them open for long (the aircon had lots of warnings about not running it with the doors open). Adding a second set of glass slider doors in the arches to the kitchen/living area and treating the dining space as more of a sunroom would solve this issue. Insect blinds (which some units had installed but ours did not) would also be helpful as a potentially cheaper solution.
Overall great for a couple of nights considering the price point.

Mango Lagoon is situated in lush gardens with views of the mountain when you are sitting outside. We had a 2 bedroom courtyard unit overlooking one of the many pools. It must be said that if you are travelling with kids the pools are most certainly the highlight. We pretty much seemed to have the pools to ourselves at all times and the kids absolutely loved them! (Bring beach towels otherwise you can rent them which I thought was a bit tight!)
I think this resort has been hit quite hard by Covid. The on-site cafe is still closed and the spa is also closed. It’s a shame about the cafe as the only option for coffee is the short walk to town. This of course is totally fine and our unit was completely set up for self catering but I think having the cafe open would give the place more of a buzz.
We had unit 24 and our friends had unit 23. They were both 2 bed units but felt quite different in terms of furniture. Ours was less comfortable and it all felt pretty dated. I also found the bed very hard. Still, in terms of space these 2 bed units are very roomy and it’s great to have a fridge and cooker to knock up some pasta for the kids and keep the beers cold! Coles is about a 5 minute drive so I would recommend having a car to get around but they are so expensive to rent!
There is a gate at the back of the property which will lead you straight to the esplanade to access all the shops and restaurants. The walk is about 5-10 mins. I cannot emphasise enough that if you are heading to Palm Cove you absolutely need to book the restaurants in advance. Some places are only open for dinner Thu-Sun. If you head out for a brunchy lunch at around 10.30/11 that seemed to work much better for us.
All in all I would recommend Mango as it ticks a number of boxes for families but if you’re after hotel like facilities and want to be very close to the esplanade then probably consider elsewhere.
Hopefully as more tourists pass through they can get the cafe/spa up and running and perhaps update some of the decor in the rooms.

Dear LozzaWorley, We appreciate you taking the time to giving us some feedback as without it we can not improve. You are correct that each room has a different feel as we are a Strata title property with individual owners to each apartment. Which the owners added taste to the room it creates a bespoke experience for each guest as it is different each time they stay as everyone has individual tastes. In regards to facilities as of June we have re-launched the Wellness Spa of the resort but bookings are essential for and experience in the Day spa. The cafe is still currently closed as we have trying to support the local bars, cafes and restaurants but with feedback like yours we are planning to re-open the cafe soon. Again we really appreciate the feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Mango Lagoon Resort and Wellness Spa. Kind regards, Matthew Cork Hotel Manager

+1
We stayed at Mango in a one bedroom courtyard apartment over Christmas and then again in June
The room was spotless, extremely spacious, and close to what we thought was the best pool, but far enough away to be quiet and private.
We spent most of the time at Xmas in the lap pool, which was a perfect temperature. The resort is within easy walking distance to the beach and we even walked to Coles at Clifton Beach most days for exercise, and to get items to use on the resort's barbecue.
Peter, Matt and Sebastien were all super friendly and able to answer any questions we had about the area and the resort.

Potential to be five star with some improvements. The two bed ground floor apt was large and close to the pool. It did have all you need in it, some of the furniture was starting to look a little tired but it was functional. The staff were all awesome, friendly and helpful and the cafe is outstanding, great coffee and the lady who runs it bakes the cookies and muffins on site, they are excellent. The pictures show the lovely pools, four of them, they look awesome and as we love swimming, it was why I picked the resort to stay in, unfortunately none are heated and they all are freezing, only the bulletproof kids were playing in the kiddies pool. We were so disappointed, the day time temp was about 28c but the unheated pools Arctic, all the adults we spoke to said they couldn’t swim in them either. We ended up paying to use the Tobruk heated pools in Cairns for a swim and sadly this is why we won’t comeback, we come from down south to escape winter and not being able to swim in the lovely pools from May to Oct means we will look for somewhere that advertises their pool is heated for winter. We were also looking to possibly invest in a holiday apt in the area for ourselves and Mango Lagoon was top of my list, alas with unheated pools we will have to find somewhere else. I urge the body Corp to consider heating at least one for winter, the return bookings would be guaranteed!

There’s some pros & cons
Pros: very clean good facilities for what you need, lovely & quiet ambiance
Cons: We had booked a one bedroom courtyard apartment ended up with a terrible room, bathroom had a toilet with no door that led from the bedroom with a hole in the wall with a shower curtain, terrible design overlooking the massage table outside the courtyard, stacker doors didn’t work, admittedly the very nice manager from Brisbane gave us an upgrade which was much more pleasant but the receptionist rang us half way through our tour to tell us we weren’t supposed to occupy both rooms? We were baffled as to what he meant but later found out the 2nd bedroom was a studio room within the apartment that they book out separately but we weren’t told this at the time of upgrade we assumed it was a two bedroom apartment both doors were open. The attitude of the receptionist was condescending & rude, which once we explained that we were upgraded by the GM & had no idea about the 2nd bedroom being a “studio” & the door was open he apologised for his demeanour, but in saying that ringing us up half way through our tour ruined our afternoon. So be aware, that if you book one of these apartments there may be another stranger renting the studio room “within” the apartment, very strange setup. The rooms are very clean, ok decor but the room I had needed major upgrade holes in shower curtain, door was all swollen with dampness.

FANTASTIC was this stay. We made mango lagoon our home for 7 nights and then decided to stay on for an extra 2.
Peter was so welcoming on arrival and told us the places to eat and visit.
The pools were brilliant! 4 pools to choose from everyday. The apartment we stayed in was a 1 bedroom with a kitchen. We had so much room to move and enjoyed the furnishings. For us- the pillows were a bit to be desired for. But that’s just our preference.
The utensils in the kitchen were great for what we required.
The beach was only a 5 minute walk (400m) - however the beach water is often warm this time of year so we enjoyed the pool a lot more.
The small cafe located at the resort is privately run by a lady called Rachel, who opened up before covid hit... her food is AMAZING in quality and value! Do not miss coming here for breakfast and/or lunch! You will not be disappointed!

Out of the main esplanade area, a few streets away, but what a gem for us…this was a great find. The resort has a back entry which cuts off time walking to the esplanade, beach area & restaurants, we also stayed the first week on the esplanade in another resort, now having down both we preferred Mango Lagoon by far.
Relaxing, resort of tranquility, clean, very comfortable, very roomy accommodation, we were upstairs believe room 219? No lifts, luckily my partner very capable in taking luggage up, if you feel you may have an issue mobility wise ask for a ground floor. Plus the shower is within a bath, maybe an issue for some, was ok for us, I think the rooms can be different to others.
4 lovely pools, garden areas. While there…in the mornings there was a cafe which was only making coffees but I believe will be doing food as well very soon, just check though.
So on check in….which was super quick by a lovely lady Carolyne…wonderful greeting, very easy to talk to, fabulous customer service just so helpful & informative regarding anything…Thank you so much Carolyne, you are a credit to Mango Lagoon, it was a pleasure to see you daily.
Everything you needed in the very spacious room, air cons, many ceiling fans, ggood cooking facilities, microwave, large fridge, enough utilities provided.
Washing machine, dryer, with supplies to start you off.
So much more to this resort within your rooms, too much to mention.
There is a lovely spa area for massages & treatments
Great for couples & very much for families.
Definitely we would return to Mango Lagoon,

We loved our stay. The unit was generous in size, clean and quiet, surrounded by beautiful tropical plants. The huge lap pool was fantastic and we enjoyed relaxing on the lounges. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful with information regarding tours, transport etc. The cafe was an unexpected bonus. This resort is located just a short and pleasant walk away from the main beach and shops. Highly recommend this lovely oasis in paradise.

We spent 8 nights here over xmas with our kids for bereavement holiday from interstate. The apartment was well sized, pools were lovely (although bit warm) for my liking. Unfortunately their was no cafe open due to the Covid and no close by shops. 10-15 min walk down the hill to the esplanade and a 6min taxi ride to the local coles and some smaller shopping centre at Clifton Hill. Staff were lovely on reception and very helpful. Some minor maintenance needed in the apartment but otherwise everything was good. Would recommend if you like Bali as many statues and themes of Bali can be found around the apartment. Walk out the back gate (use room key for entry) and you can take the path down to the beach. Not easy if you have bad knee (would recommend uber)

We were very delighted & satisfied with our recent visit. Very well maintained property with superbly appointed rooms. Thank you to Matt whom allowed us to adjust the air con units to our preference. The facilities are impeccably clean & the various pools provided a comfortable respite from the summer heat day & evening.
Thank you so much to Rachel in the cafe for the delicious Sunshine shake that saved us in the summer heat after our heated walk.
We felt very safe & secure enjoying the peace & quiet setting & a nice 10-15 min stroll to the beach village was enjoyed.

Unfortunately no, they pools are naturally heated.
I would suggest emailing the resort directly. I had a late check in when I stayed there and they left our room keys etc in a box at reception for us. Good luck!
The studio room is like a single bed motel room has all the basics.. Our family was there a month ago but had a 2 bedroom apartment awesome .. The studio room was part of this.. a one bedroom apartment + studio room .. If you can afford the one bedroom apartment you get a lot more room a full kitchen lounge + laundry and bath as well asdirect pool access.... If you're on a budget and not needing laundry etc The studio room is ample rooms are clean the grounds are great 10 minutes to walk to restaurants.. We enjoyed our stay😎
Hello, if you are intending to stay for any length of time you might want something a little more roomier.
Cheers
it's just a basic room with just a bathroom and bed. it does have a TV and desk. if you're staying for a day or two then it's probably a good room to stay in, however I recommend the apartments as they have all the facilities as well as being spacious. hope this helps.
