Like many of you our plans for celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary were cancelled this year. My husband & I decided to have a series of 3 night getaways around Queensland. We booked a Studio Pool View for 3 nights. The flights from Brisbane were perfect, having us arrive at 12.30pm into Palm Cove (after a 30
Minute shuttle transfer from airport). We were warmly welcomed by Daniel who advised us our room was ready (excellent). Daniel took our luggage up to our room and then came back and escorted us there. We were pleasantly surprised to walk in and see a complimentary bottle of bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. In then walked through the two level accommodation and realised we had also
been upgraded to a One Bedroom Pool
View. This was perfect as we had plenty of room, two bathrooms, full kitchen, laundry, lovely balcony overlooking pool & garden. It appears the accommodation has been refurbished and renovated as everything seem fresh and clean. You can see that this is an older style of a property but this is what we loved about it. Nothing in Palm Cove is built over 4 levels high and you are surrounded by lush palms and gorgeous old paperbark trees.
After settling in we rang the onsite restaurant- NuNu to request an earlier lunch (as checkin was so smooth). We arrived at lunch and were given a lovely shaded table over looking the water.
Our room was serviced each day which was lovely to walk into after a long walk on beach the following morning.
We spent the following few days, lying at either the heated pool or main pool. The adult only pool was located on the beachside of the property and a little too exposed to the wind on day two.
The day prior to our checkout I enquired about transport back to Cairns airport for our 4.40pm
Flight home. This was arranged immediately with Kasey at reception. I then enquired about paying for a Dayuse rate as we didn’t need to
depart the property until 3pm. Kasey advised me that we could have our room until 3pm at no additional cost as they had no other guests arriving at that time. I appreciate that this was a quite week and possibly not always available but it was greatly appreciated. My husband & I had only ever travelled to Cairns or Port Douglas many years ago and felt neither of these had the tranquil atmosphere and beauty of Palm Cove. The Alamanda was in a perfect location as you can step directly into the beach from the property grounds. We will definitely return.

I have just returned from a 12 day stay at Alamanda by Lancemore resort, half of the stay accompanied by my older Mum. We stayed in a 2 bedroom beach view apartment on the second floor (Building 1, Suite 17) booked through AirBnb. For a significantly cheaper price I would recommend booking through AirBnb, our apartment cost much less when compared to the hotel website.
Similar to other reviews, I wouldn’t consider this a 5 star resort, it is a self-contained hotel so even if you stay under the umbrella of the hotel itself, there is no daily maid service, concierge, pillow menu, blockout blinds, no elevators, everyday spa access, mini bar, room service or pool bar. It’s important people are aware of this prior to booking IF booking through the hotel directly. As I used AirBnb I was aware of this.
As a self-contained hotel, there are many positive aspects but some negative also. The location and views are simply the best in Palm Cove, overlooking the picture perfect palm cove (which is absolutely full of rainbow lorikeets, swallows and bats at night) the town is renowned for. I would return simply for the view and location! I honestly felt like there was no where else better to spend the time than on the balcony or by the pool. It is the only resort with direct beach access on the whole strip and the adults only pool is located right next to the water under the palms. With lots of families staying at the resort, it was bliss being in a pool only for adults. The balconies of the beach view apartments are private and being brick you can’t hear your neighbours if they’re also using theirs. The apartments are spacious and comfortable, with fans and air conditioning in every room. The hotel gardens and magical and well maintained, they’re lovely to take a stroll around.
The major negative is that the building has no elevators, which can make it tricky if you have toddlers, lots of luggage or in our case an older parent. From the underground parking lot to the bedrooms and bathrooms it’s a total of 4 flights of stairs (5 if located on the upper floor). My Mum struggled and for anyone disabled, elderly, with respiratory issues or out of shape, this isn’t appropriate accomodation unless on the ground floor.
Overall, I would return solely for the view and location alone - it’s just perfect. For those considering booking, I would recommend trying AirBnb, choosing a beach view apartment (however taking the stairs into consideration) while also considering the time of year to visit as the beach is closed for many months due to stingers and box jelly fish. If you’re a palm tree lover like me, this is the place for you!

Dear Georgia As I mentioned in person to you, I don't find it helpful or fair to review Alamanda Palm Cove by Lancemore when you did not stay with us - at your own admission you booked via a 3rd Party Operator. If you had stayed with us you would have had all the services you mention of daily housekeeping, 24 Hour reception, Access to complimentary children’s prams, Playmats etc, Assistance with your luggage, Concierge to mention a few. More importantly you would not have had to wait in our reception while I called the 3rd Party Operator you rented from when you locked yourself out of your apartment and someone had to drive across town to let you in - hopefully you made your flight. Its great you had a lovely stay in Palm Cove but I think it would be best to review the right company. All the best Tom Kelly Front Office Manager

Based on the staff alone, I would highly recommend the Alamanda Palm Cove, they are a wonderful team that really do go above and beyond and the management should be rightly proud of the staff they have here. The hotel itself is directly on the beach and very clean and tidy in all areas with wonderful facilities, there are renovations happening at the moment but we have been advised in advance and to be honest, it hasn’t bothered us at all. The suites are large and very practical, a kitchen for a small amount of self catering (breakfast etc) and a handy washing machine, all great additions for any traveller but especially so if you have children. A beautiful part of the planet to explore, thank you so much Jordan, Cedric and the team, a great return visit to Palm Cove.

My husband had booked this hotel as the last leg of our trip of a lifetime to Australia. This hotel is absolutely fabulous. Right on the beach, 3 pools ( one an adult only .......heaven) sun beds on the beach (which by the way is gorgeous)
Amazing staff. We arrived quite late due to a flight cancellation, and there to greet us with a glass of wine was the wonderful Cedric. our cases just magically disappeared and were in our room when we got to it.
Our room was fantastic, A huge lounge, washing and drying facilities, a great kitchen area and the bedroom well just wow, not to mention a bathroom each 😊
Cedric ( who we mainly dealt with) was a mine of information, helped us book trips and was generally a great, friendly and super person ( he has actually done ALL the trips so worth asking) He also asked for feed back on the trips which he could feed back to the companies.
He is a great Ambassador for the hotel group. If you need any advice, help, booking tours ask Cedric. I highly recommend. I loved the stay here and didn’t want to leave.

My partner and I recently stayed at the Alamanda in Palm Cove over seven nights. On arrival we were greeted by Tom who was so very welcoming and friendly. We were fortunate enough to receive an accomodation upgrade which was a pleasant surprise and very much appreciated and unexpected. Tom offered to book us into any restaurant we needed and gave us a detailed overview of hotel facilities etc.
Our four bedroom apartment was ever so spacious and clean and provided more than we could have needed or expected. The views were spectacular, amenities plentiful and everything very clean and tidy. The staff at the Alamanda are fantastic, always greeting guests with a big smile however special mention must go to Tom and Kaye who really went out of their way to make our stay a special one.
The Alamanda provides clean and spacious accomodation, sits across from the water, allowing guests to hear the crashing of the waves all day and night. It provides guests with three well maintained swimming pools, friendly staff and all within minutes from restaurants, bars and cafes. I ask myself, how can it get better than that? Sure there was some very minor wear and tear here and there but we allowed all of the overwhelmingly positive aspects to overcome any of these minor and insignificant issues. It is really easy these days for guests to seek faults with their accomodation, nitpicking minor details and broadcasting them on social media, resulting in unfair portrayal of all the hard work that goes into running a resort such as the Alamanda, especially in these difficult times.
What I loved most about the Alamanda was the ever present collective effort amongst staff (including reception, housekeeping, maintenance) to create a very welcoming environment for their guests, and this really helped set the tone for our holiday. We came back totally chilled and relaxed and can highly recommend the Alamanda as a place to stay while in Palm Cove.

Our 2 bedroom apartment had cracked tiles all over the floor and one that is slightly raised where we have stubbed our toes.
Sliding door to our outdoor area does not slide properly and it needs a lot of strength to open / close it.
Power points on the wall with no cover.
Loose power points so when you take out your plug the power point wobbles.
Couch is made up in a concrete form with cushions. Extremely uncomfortable to sit on.
Bedroom 1 with King bed is on a concrete base and attached concrete bedside tables.
Glass Shower screen has a chip on the topside.
Dinner plates are too large and do not fit in the dishwasher unless they lie.
Our deck chairs are made of wood with rusted hinges.
One wooden stool in the kitchen area is broken.
Cleaning staff not observant. Left the same piece of dirt for 2 days.
One room of our 2 bedroom apartment was left behind when doing the daily clean. Room was not made up.
2nd bedroom door not painted.
Our balcony floods when it rains.
Cigarette butts in planter pot.
Outside
The larger of the 3 pools has a yellow ring around the tiles.
The adult pool had not been cleaned for 3 days as sand was still sitting on the steps.
One of the deck chair around the adult pool was torn and not removed.
The bbq area had full garbage bags left in the area bringing bugs.
The wall outside the spa reception has rust running down it.
It was advertised with a gym - this consisted of a table tennis table, kids games. No gym equipment at all.
We did complain to the General Manager who apologised profusely and tried to appease us with a lovely dinner, champagne and a travel rug. Unfortunately, she could really do much as the owner of the apartment really needs to renovate. My recommendation is to remove this apartment from their rentals until all renovations have been made, or do not charge the full asking price. This is not a 5 star apartment !!!

Unfortunately their internal communications let them down. With requests submitted some time prior, lack of clarity around package inclusions, lack of communications from Nu Nu made things hard for a few days getting it all sorted.
Cleaning was missed a couple of times and items not replenished i.e toilet paper.
I'm sure there is potential for improvement outside of the current shortage of staff issues most businesses are having.
The checking-in staff member had no interest in working that day and didnt tell us a range of key information, which probably contributed to the above. The other staff we dealt with were helpful and sorted things out.
Nice place to stay. Not practical for people with babies or people with mobility issues. There are lots of stairs and no lifts.
Great location, great pools, is practical for long stays, has airport transfer options and is a pick up location for tours.

A warm welcome by Cedric of customer relations set the tone for a lovely stay at Alamanda. We splurged by taking a beachfront room (apartment really) which had a lovely lounge/kitchen on one level looking over the adult only pool, palm trees and beach. The bedroom was upstairs- enormous, though no view. Alamanda is the only property on the beach in Palm Cove, and sitting at the hotel’s restaurant, NuNu, for breakfast with a view of the sea makes for a wonderful start to the day. There was no lift in our area so if stairs are a problem make sure to tell the hotel when booking. A great place for a relaxing break.

Our stay at the Alamanda came at the end of a long and hectic Australian holiday, when we needed to relax as well as sightsee. We were very impressed. Our suite was spacious, quiet and comfortable, and was kept clean and well stocked each day. We had a large lounge with big sofas, a TV and a well-furnished kitchen, while upstairs were a large bedroom, another TV, and two good bathrooms. Note: there are no lifts at the hotel, so climbing two or three flights of stairs might be necessary.
The beautiful, quiet beach is about a minute away, with private access. The 3 pools were clean and very attractive, well provided with sunbeds. Sadly swimming in the sea is not permitted because of the risks from crocodiles and jellyfish. There is a netted swimming area about ten minutes walk from the hotel, although when we were there this was also seen as dangerous.
The staff were superb, especially Cedric Lootvoet, for whom nothing was too much trouble - he was proactive, always trying to ensure we got the best, and was welcoming and friendly but never overbearing. He booked all of our trips for us, gave us sound advice, and took a lot of planning off our shoulders.
There are good restaurants next to the hotel, a small convenience store about ten minutes walk along the seafront, and a large supermarket a short bus or taxi ride away.
I would unhesitatingly recommend the Alamanda, not only for a relaxing holiday but also as a base for touring the coast, the reefs and the rainforest.

From the minute we arrived the service from Thomas and staff at the reception was excellent. We had been treated poorly by our connecting bus line from the airport so we were late and frustrated. Thomas was fantastic and made us forget that very quickly and helped us settle into our unit with ease. We were given a welcoming drink to calm us down a bit and he had all our bags delivered to our room while we did the check in. The whole week everyone including the lady GM(who I am sorry to say have forgotten her name) the staff and gardeners always without fail asked how we were and have a great day. The resort is great with beautiful pool areas. We were 2 couples who shared a 3 b/r unit which was 2 storey and extremely spacious. The 2 main b/rooms were a fair way apart so still had good privacy and bathroom each. If you go with some fiends as we did this is the most economical way.
Whilst the NUNU restaurant is a separate business to the resort it is where you have breakfast if it is included in your deal. While not a big choice, what there was was very good. However we went there for dinner one night as we had a $100 credit for each couple. We all had a main meal and one drink each and the bill came to $356.00. Two of the meals were dredful. My meal was ok however the very small steak was $42 on its own, then a small bowl of limited greens was $14 and some bake potato was another $14, that's $70 for a small steak and very limited veg. Way to expensive. I don't mind paying if it is worth it. We ate at many other restaurants in Palm Cove and Cairns wharf area and they were all great and much cheaper.
So I definitely recommend Alamanda at Palm Cove for your stay however take a walk down the street and check out all the restaurants before you go near NUNU.
We had a great week.

Our aim is to make everyone feel at ease straightaway so its great to read that came through. I also don't take compliments well but i really appreciate the shout out - as does Mandy (the lady GM :P) and the rest of the hotel staff. I cant wait to welcome you back again soon and until then all the best. Tom Kelly Front Office Manager
