The huge pool & outdoor areas were mostly great and in a top location. The balcony big, overlooking the amazing rainforest gardens. The room spacious with all appliances etc. but in poor condition. Paint coming off wall & doors, curtains hanging off, general poor upkeep. Stains on couch & chairs , room in need of a deep clean, spots of mould in places and a general bad smell. The two bedrooms not so private, separated by opaque glass panels. Can also hear everything in the bathroom upstairs!

I give it two points because it’s in a great location and has a lovely big pool. Everything else is a flop. The hall areas are gross. The rooms are worse. So run down and very dirty, we have just checked in for a 6 night stay and we are desperately trying to find elsewhere to stay. This place is gross. It’s such a shame because the photos look great, however it’s nothing like it.

Room 4201. Avoid this room as the carpet is old, very old and many stains. The outlook from the balcony is not like the website.. overlook carpark and garbage dumpsters. Arrived andain bathroom sink blocked and kitchen sink not working..was fixed next day but should not need to contact reception with issues

A favourite destination because of great staff,location, a massive pool and spa. Easy walking everywhere although the bus is so convenient if you opt to not hire a car. The village is beautiful and so many choices for food, bars, hotels . Patrolled beach is a short walk and we love the water temperature. Walk, bike ride to Clifton and Kewarra is easy and refreshing either on the beach or boardwalk.

I felt compelled to write this after reading so many negative reviews. Both myself and my wife are in ours 60s and recently stayed at Drift for one week in early August. We arrived there at about 11a.m. Our room was ready so the recptionist Fiona who by the way was so pleasant friendly and professional allowed us into our room early. We had a 2 bedroom family apartment which was, yes dated but was clean and comfortable, well equipped, had great beds, great shower and pressure and throw in a great wifi. The pool ,the spa, the gym were all very good as well. The location was excellent within walking distance to restaurants, the pub, the shops and the beach as most places are in plam cove. Sure there some locations in the building that smell a bit mouldy but you get that in the humid tropics. My only unpleasant experience was I got locked in the bathroom when the door handle snapped but thats no ones fault. My grateful appreciation to the matience man who came to my rescue thereafter. Value wise it was $1800 for our room for 7 nights which suited our budget. Overall we had a great stay and no complaints from us. …

On a positive side the location is great and the pool looked beautiful at night but it was so shady during the day there was no point of sitting on the dirty lounges to relax - no bar either! These are the only positives. We booked the 2 bedroom executive apartment and I can honestly say that this is the worst accomodation I have ever stayed in. The place was extremely dated and filthy. The walls, curtains, carpets, furniture, beds and pillows were all stained, the ceiling fans, lights and behind the furniture were covered in dust and dead flies, the whole place was falling apart, extremely dated and plaster was crumbling off the walls and ceiling in the bathroom. Repairs needed to be done to the fridge and the towels rails, we didn't use anything else as we hated being in the apartment. We were given a new kettle as the one in he room was falling apart and looked dangerous. The cleanliness was our main concern, there was a bloody tissue in the bedroom, hair in the shower, mould growing around the windows, no pillow protectors and blood stains on the pillow, the outside terrace was covered in bird excrement and the outside furniture was dirty and worn. However the curtains were the worst - they looked like someone had urinated up them, the stains were unbelievable. To cap it all the lift didn't work and there were tradies underneath our balcony using drills and power tools from 8 am. We complained several times about the state of our room and asked to be moved but they said they were fully booked, we asked to speak to the manager several times but she never called us back, when we eventually spoke to her she agreed to us having a refund of 20%, which we received. I would not recommend this accomodation at all. Palm Cove is beautiful, the restaurants are fabulous the accomodation needs a major overhaul.…

Dear Anne, Thank you for your review of Drift Palm Cove, it's disappointing to hear that you did not enjoy your stay with us. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the location and the pool area during your stay. Unfortunately, it appears that the lounges look dirty due to the age, however we do have them cleaned regularly. We are currently working with the Body Corporate to update the pool furniture within the complex. Thank you for your honest feedback regarding the unit, I understand that our Housekeeping Manager at the time arranged to fix the items mentioned. We are currently in the process of working with this owner to replace the fridge, curtains and general repairs of the unit. Unfortunately, the lift replacement is out of the control of our management and is arranged by the Body Corporate. We were unaware at time how much of the noise would go through to the unit and we do apologise. We appreciate the feedback that you have provided and are working towards fixing all items mentioned. I think some of the previous reviews are a little unfair. We paid $350/night for a 2 bedroom apt and the accommodation was exactly what we needed. The decor is perhaps a little tired but at that price for an apartment with a large balcony with a view of the (absolutely gorgeous) pool, in a hotel right on the esplanade with a lovely big spa pool and a well equipped gym, we were pretty happy! The apartment had everything we needed, the location was excellent and the pool and spa pool really lovely.

Unfortunately the photos and resort descriptions do not match what you get. On a positive note the reception area and pool are lovely. The rooms however are pretty sub standard mainly in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. The carpeted floors were pretty grotty and the curtains were filthy. I had to wash my hands after pulling the curtains closed. The bathroom sliding door was off the runners and the towel rail in the second bathroom was falling off. Our room description says it had a view… and indeed it did of the car park. Interestingly I have since read similar reviews and managements comments are that they will pass the information on . Needless to say no action has been taken. We were disappointed as we were looking for a lovely place to stay and for the price point we’re let down.…

After booking this hotel we read the reviews and became nervous. We rang the hotel and spoke with the manager Melissa about our concerns she reassured us that we would not be disappointed. We stayed in a one bedroom loft apartment which met our expectations of a four star property. The apartment was clean and furnished well. We had a late checkin and instructions on how to access were clear and concise on how to locate and enter our room. All the staff at the front desk gave wonderful customer service and always pleasant and helpful. The hotel is central and in walking distance to all restaurants and transport. The pool spa and gym was great. Thank-you to Melissa and her great team for a wonderful weekend.

The 2nd bedroom in family unit is undesirable. No wardrobe, only two small drawers at foot of bed, so no space for putting clothes and have to share wardrobe and drawers with those sleeping in main bedroom. Also no power points and barely room to walk down either side of bed. However, the bed was super comfortable and I wish I could have taken it home with me. I love the position of Drift, i.e it's at the end end of the esplanade so there's no uncertainty do we walk left or right. Right next to restaurant Chill Portofino and we loved the fact that the music was clearly heard on our balcony. Friendly staff and beautiful pool and gardens. All up, Drift has a great feel and I loved our stay (and I was in the 2nd bedroom) and I will definitely stay here again.
