How many years does it take to improve?! Rooms are good. Always have been. But now there are little discrepancies that make a big difference. I stayed two weeks in a row. Price the same. One had a really old shower head and old lighting. The other had the same water efficient shower head (very important when water comes from people’s country and changes inland river systems) but one was about 15 years old than the other and barely worked. Same with the lights. One had a light over the fan and made working in your room about 10 times better.
I don’t even know where to start with the food. You would never eat breakfast there. Go to Empire. At dinner, all the serves are way too big. Side dishes start at $15 and there are 3. There are 3 entrees, are all deep fried pub food or bread. There are no salads, no soups, no grilled fish and 1 steak that does not look that appealing. The meat dishes are a joke. The veal I had was described as “tender pure black veal, celeriac and fennel pesto”. What came out was an enormous plate of overly salted ratatouille with rolled veal schnitzels (tough as hell), wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with eggplant, capsicum and feta. Not an entirely bad meal except for more salt than the mining operations down the road. But bearing no resemblance to the description. That menu has not changed forever except to get smaller. They have no idea about their business clientele. You at least need a main special and an entree special that changes at least weekly, a healthy, sensible sized side, a fish of the day and a soup of the day. You have a whole menu that will give people a heart attack. If you can’t fix it, put microwaves in the rooms.

i stayed for a night after attending a seminar at the hotel.
i liked you could park your car right outside your hotel door. with another door on the other side of the room toward the internal hotel maze of walkways.
the room was very spacious, with a king size bed, bedside tables, large desk & table with bar fridge & sitting chair. a large flat screen TV is wall mounted above the desk.
the king size bed was very comfortable with crisp white linen. and high quality pillows. the wardrobe had spare pillows & blanket. all the things you need for a good night's sleep.
the bar fridge had 2 complimentary bottles of water.
the ensuite bathroom was also spacious with large walk in shower. the shower head was blocked & resulting in poor water pressure & spraying out of the cubicle & flooding the bathroom. i really liked the large bottles of toiletries - body lotion, hand wash, body wash, shampoo & conditioner. towels were good quality & thick although a little small (small bath towels & not bath sheets). face washer, bath mat & hand towel also provided.
given the price paid & catering for the corporate traveller, the only thing i would say was missing was USB charge station at the desk or bedside tables.
the food at the seminar was delicious. i ordered the fish & chips for dinner but was very disappointed & the fish tasted terrible, clearly frozen poor quality. the buffet breakfast was plentiful.
i highly rate the staff service - be it at the reception desk or restaurant. overall, i would return to stay at this hotel but would eat dinner elsewhere.

Was looking forward to a getaway with hubby, rung hotel and was Quoted an enormous price for an overnight stay, when I informed them that the price on bookings.com was 1/5 cheaper I was told they would match it, I later found other sites where 1/2 price, so look around before ringing, as the staff won’t suggest it. Unlike another resort I rung which did there best to offer the lowest price.

Was told we got a free upgrade, which I doubted as the bookings.com offer was the same room. Deluxe palm room with a king bed. The bed was great the pillows good. The coffee pod machine redundant as the coffee cups don’t fit. The toaster also stupid as they don’t supply breads or jams.

The Smart tv was a decent size, their movies package costs, the screen mirror works, however drops out approx 6 time during a 45 min tv show. Very frustrating as you need to leave your device next to the tv.

The swimming pool is ancient paint peeling off the walls, no cover to shade so could not use during the day.

However the restaurant was marvellous bit pricey, however the meals where the nicest I’d had in a while.

Overall, if the place had a better price tag, it would be much more acceptable. The bed was comfortable. At a 5 star price I expect 5 start surrounds

Dear Col A. Thank you very much for taking the time to publish your review on TripAdvisor.com, your feedback is much appreciated. I am pleased that you enjoyed our restaurant and the bedding in the room, the beds are indeed very comfortable. Please accept our apologies for the technical drop out, it is definitely not a normal occurrence. We are currently undergoing refurbishment and this will culminate in a very new look for the property, decked pool area and large shade sails and of course a completely renovated swimming pool. Pricing for the rooms is demand driven with rates for weekends being cheaper, this can further be influenced by the very short term nature of bookings and cancellations which influence the trading patterns in this hotel. We would love to see you back at the Karratha International once our renovations have been completed mid 2021. Best regards, Steve F

What A Dive. Let me start with the uninviting frontage. A staff member parks their stupid Jeep right outside the front entrance on the 2-car wide driveway. You open the door to reception and BooM 😜 your senses are hit with the overbearing odor of septic waste! The price for the room we booked was highly overpriced at around $250 which we came to realise once we found the parking space & opened the door to room #173. I kid you not when I say the place is equivalent to emergency housing.

So back to reception we go. After some discussion with the receptionist we cancelled our booking and went in search of better accommodation.

We were in luck. We booked in to Karratha Central Apartments which is located on a beautiful strip opposite some gorgeous restaurant and bars. A room is beautifully equipped with a full kitchen stove oven dishwasher fridge freezer laundromat with dryer and washer and so much better bang for your buck.

So thank you very much Karratha international for nothing.

And please don't kid yourself by trying to blame any of your shortcomings on the current pandemic aka Covid-19. it's obvious it doesn't have anything to do with that C-19 as you will not find the poor quality that you display at your ESTABLISHMENT here at Karratha Central Apartments. This place is nothing but class.

Dear NarinaBizniss, Thank you very much for having taken the time to publish your review on TripAdvisor, your feedback is much appreciated. Indeed there is some work to be done around the property which received significant damage as a result of cyclone Damien. Rectification works are due to begin in October and this will restore the hotel. I am curious to understand what the problem with the room was. We enjoy a constant flow of guests from all corners of the world with very few complaints about the rooms. I am pleased to understand that you found alternate accommodation more suited to your stay. We look forward to seeing you again when we have completed repair works on our buildings. Warm regards, Steve F

We stayed at the KI recently for 6 days on a spell from a road trip. Its got North West pricing but that's the reality of where it is. Once we fixed the shower head (no charge to the establishment) things were better. The soap dispenser was empty for 3 days...but in true NW fashion they got to it in the end. The rooms were made up each day and the cleaners were polite and brilliant in all interactions. The Staff at book-in were friendly, shared a joke and were terrific even when when I couldn't remember my Pin number on one of the Cards. The Pool area was great, the bar wonderful and the beds extremely comfortable. It was quiet clean and classy. All interactions with staff were excellent. If you needs extra Plates or cutlery just ask as the staff were ever willing to help.
Thankyou Karratha International for a clean, comfortable stay.

1. To enter our room we had to squeeze past a fence which surrounded a construction site.
2. Odour from floor waste in bathroom was disgusting.
3. Flickering LED in the bathroom
4. One Bedside lamp had an electrical fault with the switch.
5. Worst of all was we had not Hot Water the night we arrived. Phoned reception and they got it sorted. Got up in the morning and no Hot Water again. Phoned reception and nobody in attendance so went to message. Waited a while and phoned again. Spoke to a guy who said he would sort. Waited and waited and still no Hot Water. Phoned them again and this time he actually sorted it.
6. When checking out nobody in reception even though at check in I was told a $100 pre authorisation had to be placed on my card. I wanted to ensure it was credited back and discuss our concerns about the property.
7. The pool glass was absolutely filthy. The pool was in need of renovating.
8. The grounds were disgusting with most plants dead, dying or struggling.

Having paid $180 to stay in this dump we are far from happy. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

My wife and I recently stayed here, oh dear.
First impression, the rooms look like a block of storage units, very drab and unappealing.
Check in was quick and friendly but all down hill from there.
Inside the room was dark and musty carpets were not clean, the only positive was the bathroom which looked like it had been renovated.
The view out of the window was rubble no garden at all.
Both outside doors did not shut properly.
We paid $198 for this not even worth $98
This " INTERNATIONAL " hotel needs some tlc.
We are WA tourists trying to support Western Australia, but places like this are why we and many thousands of WA people go to Bali on holiday.

Dear atmx, Thank you for having taken the time to post your review on TripAdvisor, your feedback is much appreciated. As you have noticed, we are undertaking repairs from the last cyclone and garden rehabilitation. The area outside your room is between the two buildings is getting a shade structure afixed as I respond to your review. The builders have removed the unsightly rubble which was indeed adjacent to the building and we are irrigating and will be planting in the near future so that this area becomes a cool tropical garden. I hope that you will have the opportunity if passing through again to take stock of the changes that are taking place. Unfortunately the fixes are not instant however we are working rapidly now to bring the property to a new level. Best regards, Steve F

After reading past food reviews of the restaurant, we were a little nervous frequenting this establishment. We happened to bump into some old friends during our Pilbara adventure and as they were locals to Karratha, they suggested this restaurant for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of food that came out considering the limited selection of mains. Both me and my wife ordered the 300g rib eye and it came medium as requested cooked to perfection. A side plate of steamed green vegetables complimented the dishes too. It was a quiet Wednesday night as we were the only guests dining inside the restaurant with most choosing to sit outside alfresco by the pool. Staff were attentive and efficient and prices were competitive for the area. All in all a good night with great friends we hadn’t seen for 15 years.

I had to spend three nights here after being offshore for 45 days. I was concerned after reading reviews and hearing other peoples' experiences especially since renovations were underway. I just wanted a place to relax, be able to eat (and maybe have a cold beer) and keep up with my fitness regime. As I am able to choose where I stay, I emailed the hotel in advance to see if they had a gym as there were not any real good pictures of it. They emailed back and confirmed that they had a 24 hr gym. I sent another email asking about any noise problems with the reno, and they promised that there would be none. I went ahead and got my company to book. My check in was good and there was no issue with my room. When i went and checked the gym out I was presently surprised as they had enough equipment to do a cardio or strength work out. 2 treadmills, a Concept rower and a bike. plus a good range of dumbbells and a multi-station weight machine. They really should put some pictures up of this on their website. Reading through the complaints posted, all I can say is I had a good rest, no construction noise, the pool looks dodgy, but it is clean, just stained from the water. Breakfast was good, beer was cold. You don't come to Karratha to stay in the room all day but is a great place to unwind at the end of the day. Close enough to town to walk to most shops, bars and restaurants.
