Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Mainly you go there for one purpose only - work. The bed is clean, it works, there's nothing to do, there's a tv, there's beer, that's it. Nobody comes to Karratha on holiday, and nor did I.

If you are looking for a budget, temporary place to stay in a convenient and quite section of Karratha with very good atmosphere and a bunch of, mostly young, international and friendly people, stay at Parkby Lodge. The place is clean, and managed by an extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful guy, Dean [--]. The guests seem to respect each other and help dean keep the place tidy and quite. Similarly, people respect your property and will not pilfer your food.

This place is absolute filth which is a shame because it is a really cool space and there are some really cool people here. Even the owner is alright.

Seriously gross though. This place could be fun if it was clean!!

Please clean!! All the rooms stink and have dirty floors!

If you can sleep In your car it would be better option.

Proprietors treated me like a welcome relative and were administratively organized. I intended to stay two days but took such a liking and was a bit road-weary so stretched out the residency to a full week. Price was reasonable and clear Wi-Fi free. Free hosted Sunday night BBQ that all residents turn out for - plenty of left overs for the next day too. Rules are respected and followed. Spacious dining area, many refrigerators, good kitchen, large common courtyard area with shade, tables and grills and some exercise equipment. No pool. I was in town on tourism and the only U.S. citizen but was welcomed by all. Most residents are early day start workers in and about the NW WA mining industry who may be residents for upwards of 12 months. International feel, resident citizenships incl most Aus states, Kiwi, Argentine, Sudanese, French, Italian, Irish and Northern Irish.

The managers, Dean and Eva, really made the place great! It was more if a bed and breakfast feel than a backpackers, and they were so honest and welcoming. The people that stay there are respectful and fun, and it seemed like a safe family vibe where everyone looks out for one another, following the fine example of the managers. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would not hesitate in staying there. When I had a crisis, they really helped me out & were lovely, and so professional, but ultimately more like friends than managers. Thanks so much!

Great location near the shopping centre.
Free Barbecue apparently every weekend, which was great because I stayed there when it was on.

The place is clean, and management are extremely accommodating and helpful and really enjoyed my overnight stay.

I found this place to be a godsend after travelling 900kms. Arrived late but was no probs to give me a cheap room for the night. Bed was comfy with aircon. Showers were clean. Nice outdoor area & pool. Owner was lovely & friendly...cost $35...good place to stop overnight to recharge the batteries :))

Such a nice place with everything you need, nice rooms, nice kitchen... Deano and Eva (the owners) are just amazing and will do everything they can to help you and make your stay enjoyable. Me and my girlfriend were actually supposed to stay only one night in that hostel, we stayed there 4 months !!! Very good time ! Thanks Deano, thanks Eva ! You're more than welcome in France ! ;-)

Parkby Lodge is absolutely brilliant! The managers, Dean and Eva, are the friendliest people I've met in a long time. You immediately feel welcome and the vibe is so cruisy that all the people staying there hang out and do fun stuff together. If you are not into that kind of thing this is still ideal, mostly because of the high level of respect between the occupants. You stay quiet at night so people who have work early in the morning can sleep. No one touches or 'borrows' your food or drinks without asking you first. From day 1 I felt completely fine leaving my brand new Macbook Pro in an unlocked room. This place definitely made an otherwise tedious trip to Karratha absolutely amazing!
