Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Can't praise Logan and Larissa highly enough for looking after me when i was brought to Ellenbrae suffering heat exhaustion going on heat stroke (friends and I were riding bicycles along the Gibb River Road). L & L and the caretakers Mark and Lorraine rehydrated me, opened a chalet for me to recover in and checked in periodically to make sure of my recovery. When my friends rode in Ellenbrae put them up while we got ourselves sorted.
Five stars to Ellenbrae for quietly looking after travellers.
The accommodation is basic but lets get real; Ellenbrae is a cattle station in the middle of one of the most isolated and rugged parts of Australia. If you want luxury go to overpriced resorts on Cable Beach in Broome. For a real bush experience go to Ellenbrae.

We arrived at ellenbrae station on the gibb river road after two nights terrible nights camping at Manning gorge with massive amounts of dust, smoke and over crowding (mt Barnett roadhouse). Ellenbrae was like a paradise in comparison. And the complete opposite. There were very well kept campgrounds, cabins, a great restaurant / cafe , landscaped gardens and a wonderful staff team were excellent
we stayed in one of the rammed earth cabins which was exceptionally comfortable

This place is just lovely, from the friendly staff and pretty Ringers campground with alfresco showers and on-site swimming hole, through to the famous scones. We splurged on a 7am Bush Bath which was just divine after 2 weeks on the Gibb! No on-site gorges but they know how to make up for it!

After two flat tyres on the Gibb River Road, Ellenbrae was a welcoming and green oasis. Upon arrival, scones, jam and cream were on offer and were delicious. The river next to the homestead is beautiful and we all appreciated a beer and a dip. The calm, competent and cheerful Logan not only provided us with a temporary spare tyre, he sourced and fitted two new tyres for us. His lovely partner Larissa provided us with a delicious BBQ pack for dinner complete with two salads. We stayed in delightful little cabins and set off the next day happy as Larry! If you visit, you will not regret it. Huge thanks to Larissa, Logan and the staff of Ellenbrae.

We stayed at Ellenbrae Station recently and this was probably the most welcoming and nicest place to camp on the Gibb. We were not due to stay there, but Manning Campground was closed Unexpectedly.

Staff were amazing and genuinely wanted to make our stay enjoyable and homely. Proper hot showers where the water doesn’t run out, big camp ground, lovely gardens, excellent camp kitchen and facilities.

Camp ground backs onto a small watering hole, fire pits available throughout the grounds, and most importantly……the amazing scones. Well done to the team. Great spot.

This is a great spot to camp. The showers are fabulous and build your rock fire pit to sit under the stars. Scones are delicious and there is a specialty selection of T2 teas! We booked the deluxe twin baths ($90) with a grazing plate ($40) and J would highly recommend it for the stunning outlook. Products snd bath salts are provided. Book gif sunset bath before you arrive!! Loved it.

We stayed in the cabins with shared facilities. Whilst not luxurious Ellenbrae is so comfortable. The meals provided are super and hospitality is exceptional. This included great scones complete with jam and cream, lovely cheese platter afternoon tea with the manager and his family as well as a plentiful cook your own bbq with super salads. We hardly made a dent in the huge fresh and delicious meal.
Cabins and facilities are clean and comfortable.
Highly recommended stopover in the Gibb River Rd!

A lovely station on the Gibb River Road.
They are rightly famous for their scones but I would recommend staying there. Very friendly staff and restaurant reception area.
There is a nice river with swimming holes alongside the camp.
We stayed in a cabin whilst our friends camped nearby.
The station provided dinner bbq packs for us to cook in the kitchen area and set up a fire for us.
Wish we had stayed more than one night but we were on a schedule.

Thank you to Larissa and Logan and Fiona and Mark for all their hospitality and help with our two blown tyres. Ellenbrae is a very worthwhile stop in for scones or overnight on the Gibb River Road. You can’t beat the friendly service. Of, and yes, we did finish the road through to Derby :)

The mechanic at the Ellenbrae station also helps with flat tires. Since our two spare tires were already "dead", we decided to take a break from our tour across the Gibb here. We had made contact the day before and were already expected. In less than an hour two tires were repaired and one wheel was fitted with a new tire. Thanks Mark!
The station itself is an oasis. A well-kept garden welcomes you. It is a nice place to take a break. Eating and drinking is easy to manage. More is not necessary in the outback. We had the best scones (outside of England) and enjoyed a classic cream tea. We really didn't expect that in this place.

As its not school holidays I think you will be fine just turning up. If you have the ability it might be good to ring ahead. They have alot of dinfferent camping areas. We were in the ringers camp which was lively.
