Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Never seen such a dirty place in my life. No WiFi, kitchen infested with decay. The worst is the aborigines who plunder the fridges and steal all the business. Insecurity to the maximum. Soon 1 month here I strongly recommend

I stayed here for 5 months while working on a farm. It was the best experience ive ever had, we were like a big family. The rooms were good, bathrooms basic but clean, massive kitchen, lovely swimming pool. I would recommend staying here!!! Atmosphere is calm and friendly.

Friendly staff welcomed me in the KNX Backpackers which is filled with working holiday backpackers. Nice pool area and a lot of space to hang around and meet peope. The rooms were not up to standard, had poor ventilation and the mattress was saggy. Hardly any of the kitchen equipment was working and only 1 out of 3 washing machines could be used. Located on the edge of town it's a 10 minute walk to the grocery/liquor store.

Rooms were a good size and came with wardrobe and drawers which is great for those staying longer. Air-con and a fan, which were excellent given the heat. Kitchen was a good size, lots of hobs, so you didn't have to squeeze in/ wait to use them. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from town and the shops, but is really close to the national park and Kelly's Knob. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, they made an effort to know everyone's names and took an interest in their guests. Plus they offer a free pick-up and drop-off to bus/ airport.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the owner stuart is very helpful. He will help you find work if needs be or point you in the right direction if looking for something touristy. Big kitchen, nice pool, double rooms with fridge, bbq and no silly deposits needed when checking in. FREE airport and greyhound pick ups/drop off. Easily the best back packers in town.

This hostel is perfect for backpackers, who are working or looking for work in Kununurra. It´s a nice green area with a pool, big kitchen, tv area, laundry, 3 bed houses - mostly 4 dorm rooms and a great place to meet new people. It´s located in town and about 10min away from the town centre. I´m sure you gonna like it, if you like the way to live as a backpacker.

First impressions: A bit rundown, but habitable. The atmosphere: Friendly enough, but groups keep to themselves. Majority of clientele: Working class, long-term multinational boarders. Location: 10 min walk from town centre. Overall impression: OK for short stays only. Great if you're a working backpacker looking for cheaper long-term accommodation. We chose Kununurra Backpackers because of a lack of other options in town, arriving during peak tourist season. However it is a lot cheaper here for a double room ($65) compared to the rival backpackers situated in town ($110). Bad news was that there are only 3 double rooms here, all of which were booked out when we arrived. We ended up with 2 beds in a 4-bed dorm, not ideal, but we managed. The kitchen area facilities were more than ample, however the bench and cooktops were constantly in a messy condition from regular use. We were happy with the availability of the deep-chest freezer, which the rival backpackers in town do not provide. The dining areas & tables could do with a bit more cleaning too. The rooms themselves needed some TLC, some of the cupboard doors in ours were falling apart, higher shelf was very dirty. Mattresses were very thin and dipped in the middle, making for uncomfortable sleeping. The curtains were also coming off the railings, and WE were the ones who had to fix this! The ceiling fan had an annoying, constant clicking which I just had to put up with. There was an AC unit, however this was never turned on due to the cool weather at the time. The toilets and bathroom facilities were average. The shared bathroom was very old, leaky shower head, but had pressure and lots of hot water. The floors definitely needed a good scrub. The door also didn't close properly unless lock-latched. The laundry area was quite funny. One gets the impression, although the backpackers here do a LOT of laundry (almost every washing line was filled) they just don't care enough to buy laundry pegs to peg them down?!? As a result the ground was littered with loose articles of clothing after a particularly windy night. Arriving on a Saturday night meant that we were ready to put up with some amount of noise that night, however, some groups carried on until around 2.30am. Apologies were made on behalf of the manager, who reassured us the residents were usually more well-behaved. The next night was a lot more civilised, with the noise dying down quite early, around 10pm. Fortunately we had reasonable roommates, both of whom turned in at moderate hours both nights. The manager has good tips for things to do and see locally, so be sure to speak to him. However, overall we were quite glad to leave Kununurra Backpackers, and will definitely try harder to seek other accommodation in advance if we ever visit this town again.
