The location is about 6 km out of town which would be a consideration if you did not have a car. We did so there was no issue! It is a bit different to the usual B&B in that it is a fully self-contained ground floor single unit including laundry facilities located in a tropical setting. A prepared breakfast was not provided although a good range of food was which allowed us to prepare meals at times of our choosing which suited us perfectly. I think that this form of B&B has a lot going for it! :-) Our host was friendly and helpful without being intrusive and offered the use of the facilities including a tennis court and pool. She has a good knowledge of the Kununurra area and offered helpful suggestions about the activities available in the area. We visited during the Ord Valley Muster, a highlight of the Kununurra district year which has an impact on available accommodation. As a result, we needed to look further afield for somewhere to stay. In hindsight, had we known about Bougainvillea Lodge, I suspect that we would have stayed there as our first choice! Comments about hotel facilities below are not relevant to this B&B.

Thank you very much for your very kind review. It was a pleasure having you both to stay and I hope you enjoyed your visit to Kununurra enough to include it in one of your future holiday itineraries. I also hope you enjoyed the Kimberley Moon Experience concert. Thank you once again. Cheers Judy

I have stayed at Bougainvillea Lodge B&B many times over the last 3 years for both business and pleasure. This piece of paradise offers views of the ranges and sits on the lower Ord River surrounded by palms, mango trees and a variety of bird life. The accommodation is faultless with everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Judy is an amazing host and I highly recommend it as the best and only place to stay in Kununurra.

This has to be the nicest, best equipped B and B we have stayed at for some time and Judy the host is very welcoming. We arrived in the dark and woke up to wonderful surroundings and great breakfast provisions. Could easily use it as a base for a few days in Kununurra.

I have travelled all over the world and this is simply the best bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. To wake up with the sound of the birds, the palm trees and the view of the river was just heavenly. This place soothes yours soul. All this plus Judy - a most wonderful hostess.

I spent two nights in Bougainvillea B&B in Kununurra, and felt absolutely spoilt. This 'granny flat' is completely self-contained, with washing-machine, oven and all the other things normally needed for living in a home. Plus swimming pool to use, and a delightful garden to share. The quietude except for the sounds of nature offers an amazing experience, as does the Lower Ord river next to the property with crocodiles and all. The fridge held a small bottle of champers and a bottle of beer for me, plus chocolates for me to feel extra welcome. I appreciated Judy's down to earth, welcoming and caring attitude. The only thing that - in time- could be improved is offering guests the option of having a fresh breakfast and/or room service each day if they stay for more than 1 night (e.g. fresh milk, fruit and yoghurt). Also checking in with guests to see if they are happy and all is okay. That said, Judy has a lot happening for her at the moment so guests can accommodate for that... ;-)

Best nights sleep ever! Bed is divinely comfortable, aircon perfect, kitchen well equipped, and bathroom spacious as well as modern with fantastic washing machine and room to dry your clothes on the deck! What more could you want? Lush tropical gardens with an in ground pool overlooking the mighty Lower Ord River perhaps? How about stunning sunset views over the adjacent mesmerising Ranges the Kimberley's are world famous for. Ticks all the boxes and then some. Highly recommended. Oh, and yes, the host Judy is an authentic Kununurra-ian!!!

I have now stayed in 4 places in Kununurra and this was by far the best. Just a very short drive from the town centre, it overlooks the Ord River with the stunning red gorges in the background and a host of wildlife. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have slept in and all the comforts are there - beautiful cool air conditioning, free and fast wi-fi. It screams of love and generosity with special touches and treats from Judy from breakfast supplies to yummy treats and surprises. The self catering kitchen was well equipped and we made use of this and the bbq to self cater and just hang out and relax...But if you want to eat out the Bougainvillea Lodge is literally just up the road from what I would say is the best Cafe in Kununurra - the Ivanhoe Cafe. Treat yourself to a lunch there at least once! Thanks for sharing your wonderful property Judy.

We had a wonderful time at Bougainvillea Lodge. The place was immaculate, host Judy was great fun, and what's not to love about taking drinks on the deck overlooking the Ord River! This place is absolute paradise and we can't wait to visit again. Put it on your bucket list.

In the busy transit/tourist/agricultural town of Kununurra, it was just lovely to find this peaceful and perfect haven just minutes out of town. The room was beautiful, the facilities excellent and the owner Judy Hughes pays so much attention to the small details that make a stay special...handmade soaps and shampoo, gourmet food in the fridge, a perfectly equipped kitchen inside (or BBQ outside), providing a teapot when it turned out we were using loose leaf tea. Nothing was overlooked. All this and a glorious view over the Lower Ord and visits from a variety of birds: kites, rainbow bee eaters, martins, crimson finches (yep that was first day's pleasure), buff-sided robins, white gaped honeyeaters, kites, shelducks, ibises, egrets. Early morning and afternoon we could sit and watch the local wallaby scene and a few Brahman grazing close by. I came with my Mum and whilst she loved the Kimberley that she saw, one of her highlights was just staying at this B and B. We hopefully will be back.....even if its just to sit, watch the river and the birdlife and just relax rather than sightsee.
