Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed in an older, comfortable, self contained deluxe cabin, which had plenty of room and comfy bed. We were on a tour and had no dealings with the management so can only comment on the cabin. The pool looked lovely and clean. The word "resort" is rather over the top as it's just a caravan park, but we found the cabin just fine. People need to remember they are in a remote area and things aren't going to be perfect.

The two cabins that we occupied were very dirty and the seating needed replacing. Even the chairs on the veranda felt as if they would give way under a bit of weight. The blinds looked as if they had not been cleaned for some considerable amount of time. There was dirt around the wash basin in the bathroom so obviously it was not cleaned properly. Step into Cabin 32were unstable and one side held up by a brick. To say this is a Resort I wonder if they are Comedians. I spoke to the Manager by phone after leaving as I was unable to speak to her personally.32

Response from Managers IVCR, General Manager at Ivanhoe Village Caravan Resort
Responded 22 July 2023
I have explained to you about the fact that our water is very high in calcium, as we use bore water. The calcium build up is impossible to remove. The cabins maybe old but they are clean, the floor in the bathroom and around the taps are stained from calcium build up over many years. The cleaners did not notice that one of the leg stoppers on a chair had come out. I am sorry you were unable to speak to me personally, but I do get one day of a week. I did return your phone call to explain about our water, but you did not want to listen.

Male Manager has no "People's Skills" Is very Arrogant, lies to suit himself. Rides around all day on the Golf Cart. Make People very uncomfortable whilst riding around the Park who stares at others. Abuses Caravanners that can't reverse properly onto sites. Closes the Pool Area 2hrs prior pool closure time so he can finish for the day. Hasn't the time to help caravanner's except from its home state. If you booked in, and running a little late you will not be allowed in after 5pm. Security lighting very poor, as the Solar lights fade out around midnight, need back up lighting to deter the local offending visitors . He talks about you to others. Word has already got around to other traveler's not to go there. He will destroy the reputation of other Mangers whom has built the Park up. The only Caravan Park that is not full whilst others are at full capacity. Owner needs to get rid of them before its too late. Sad to see the Park has failed because of the Mangement.

The pool hours are 7 am till 5 pm. The pool chemicals are added at 5 to make the pool safe to swim in the next day. The golf cart is used to travel to sprinklers to make the place nice and green. It is a strange comment about his home state as he has lived in 5 states.

Anyone travelling to Kununurra wanting to stay at caravan park this one is very run down. Tried to use dryer in laundry it was filthy luckily we travel with our own dryer . Toilets are not cleaned and very old , men’s toilet has a broken tape one basin . Has only one boom gate working . Beautiful trees lovely green grass just needs a good injection of money to bring it up to scratch .

I am sorry you did not notice the out of service sign on the dryer. We have bore water in the park and the high calcium level does stain the tap wear, and looks dirty, but all our facilities are clean. The buildings may be old but they are clean.

Really disappointed in the unfriendly, unwelcoming staff who run this park. We had booked for a powered site a day early and advised we would be arriving in the late afternoon. Upon arriving, the bloke behind the desk just said ‘nope no more’ and advised we would be free to set up camp in the car park. Once we told him we had paid for the site he said that they had no powered sites left and we would need to stay on an unpowered. This was fine but when we asked for a refund of the difference between powered and unpowered, he laughed in our face and said we had to be joking. Really lovely park, it’s a shame this attitude has completely ruined it from the moment we drove in.

The current management are very difficult to deal with, they are deceptive about the deals that are available, we asked twice what the deals are as we found $385 to be high for a weekly rate. When talking to new people arriving they all told us about the stay 4 pay 3 deal that had been running since before we arrived. We asked for our rent to be backdated but instead they upped our cost. The managers here will be the death of this park! All the other parks in town are at capacity yet this park in only half full with all incoming patrons commenting to us about the attitude of management. It’s very unfortunate to see such a great place run into the ground by the wrong manager’s in place 🙁

These clients have been evicted & black listed for their behaviour to the office staff, no staff should have to put up with being spoken to as this couple did. They can tell lies about the park, as most of these fasts are not true. The deal did not start until after they had arrived.

So impressed with this place. The pool was one of the nicest pools we have swam in. The staff were super friendly, the amenities were a little old but nice and clean and the sites were nice and shady.

The cabins were very old, but sufficed. They were not very clean, but had good lighting, and were spacious. The area was quiet, and had coin operated washing machines. This was a good stepping off place to visit the Ord River attractions.

Originally I booked up this place by email for three nights (leaving on the 14th July). Then I changed my mind because i wanted to shorten my journey to Darwin on the 14th July. I let the resort know about this change of mind and booked a night in Timber Creek on the 13th July. This resort claimed that they did not know about this and charged me for 3 nights, not 2 nights. Crumbs, I checked out on the 13th July so they could easily have let someone else have the room on the 13th July, but chose not to do so. I complained about this but it was a waste of time because the resort stated they knew nothing of my change of plan. I would urge future travellers to be careful in booking at this resort if they want to make changes. On the 13th I asked to see my invoice but was told it was sent to my gmail account; the resort had no wi-fi available for visitors, so I was completely excluded from seeing my bill. Talk about lack of transparency. Surely if the resort had been above board and completely ethical they would have let me know what my bill was and not sent it to my gmail account. Clearly I am very unhappy being charged for the 3rd night when I was not at Ivanhoe Resort but in Timber Creek.

Hi Peter, We would like to clarify your current review, you made a booking with Booking.com which is a third party provider, no amendments were made to your booking and we have no record of you speaking to our staff. All our staff are instructed to advise guests making changes that they need to go back to their third party provider as we can't control the booking process. We don't actually have your gmail account on record so I am not sure who advised they were sending your account to you. Your invoice would have been available through booking.com as we don't charge you they do. Unfortunately we are fully booked through out the peak season and do on occasions have guests leave early but our cancellation policy is firm especially within 7 days. I would urge you to follow up with booking.com for all account enquiries. We are a proud family owned and operated park and certainly not unethical as you stated.

Dusty, small sites, unsupervised kids racing around the park on bikes not addressed by Management. Amenities not good - 1 soap dispenser for all of men's toilets and 1 dispenser for all of men's basins (both empty much of the time) and same for women, no paper towels at all and no electric hand dryers anywhere in mens. Men's shower blocked and so you are standing in grey water to shower. Disgraceful. Powered sites at $50 pn!!

Thanks for your review Marc, we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. In regards to the amenities, we are waiting on delivery of new dispensers and hand dryers as these were damaged. We were not aware that the mens shower was blocked and will attend to this immediately. In regards to children riding bikes around the park, this has been addressed and parents have been given particular safe areas for children to ride their bikes in, being school holidays there are many children staying with us enjoying being out in the sunshine.
