We stayed at Palmerville station for 4 nights in our hybrid camper and all we could say was wow wow wow. We set up in lower camp ground and is very flat and at night it had the largest TV I’ve seen (II mean the night sky 😉 ). Palmerville station has it all. From stylish cabins to superb flat camp grounds where you can pitch a tent, swag, caravan or your style of camper requirements, there’s room and accommodation to suit anyones needs. With huge dams so close you can walk to them, why not try your hand at catching a Barra or some freshwater yabbies. Palmerville station camp grounds has loads to offer. The managing hosts Frog & Kerrie run the camping grounds and are hands down the best representatives you could ask for and are alway up for a chat and helpful suggestions. Everyone will experience what Palmerville Station Camp Grounds has to offer once you arrive. It’s a bit of Luxury or glamping in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, It has Great view, Romantic, Quiet, Kid-friendly, Great value just al round great.
Let’s not forget that the Camp grounds sit right next door to the famous Maytown township and Palmer River filled with history but let’s not forget about the gold. While all the land and sights to see, you can prospect on rich goldfields and that’s the real bonus.
We’ve made it our regular visit and once you see it, you’ll know what I mean.

From as little as $30 a night, Look no further than Palmerville Station in. FNQ. Don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed. Book today and start your adventure at Palmerville Station Camp Grounds.

Rooms
The cabins are fantastic, king singles or king size doubles. Cabins has fridge, showers and flushing toilet.

Nearby activities

We spent 3 1/2 weeks camping and detecting during May/June 2023, loved every day of it, first time ever attempt at detecting, understood the basics of detecting . The camp grounds are quite spread out except those on offer on top of HUT HILL, this was our location due a very senior member in our group req access to the ammenities. It is dusty at times, this is the normal for the cape, sufficient toilets although the single shower can get busy however the wait time in the common area allows an opportunity to discuss the day with the other guest and you will find most of the seasoned locals are very friendly and will assist you with tips on how to detect the property. We learnt so much during these chats. The camp managers are very nice couple and also pointed us in the right direction on day 1 as we found our first few pieces (beginners lucky). The grass is long May JUNE, the day temps are manageable an nights very pleasant. Roads are average however most 4x4 with a lift kit can get to the remote areas but it does take time, it’s worth the effort. Once on the ground you will need to climb hills and push through the grass but that’s where most of our good finds came from although several were a mere few meters from the parked car. The history you stumble over as you detect is very interesting although some days the nails, bullets an horse shoes are numerous. We will be back in late Sept 2023 to better our best nugget of 3.2 grams.

After doing a trip to tip up the cape I got wind of Palmerville station in a camp ground 1 evening and being a keen prospector thought I’d call in and give it a go. My first trip I was there for 5 days and found 15 grams of gold. The tracks were as to be expected for cattle station where mustering is done by helicopter and horse back. But if driven to conditions they were fine. The camp grounds were very spacious and well spread out. Wifi Is available at the cabins as well as filtered water. A few months after my first trip I returned with 2 other ppl for a 18 day stay. After 16 days detecting of the 18 I ended up with 86gm and my mates ended up with 45gm between them. This was all found in the general day pass area. There is plenty of gold to be found if u know what ur doing. The Palmer gold fields are nothing like the flat open gold fields of Victoria so don’t expect it to be. I have since been back multiple times and have always found enough gold to cover my trip costs. The new management that is there now are great people and will help with almost anything within there ability. I will be returning again soon.

I visited with a group of detectorists and we stayed in the cabins in Glamping luxury.
To come back to a hot shower, campfire chat and a BBQ dinner with mates was awesome 😎 after a big days detecting, host Kerry & Frog excelled in helping and making us all feel welcome. Facilities are well maintained and campers are not left out with a great new amenities block. Yes we got some Gold too !

I wish I had read the re owe on here before embarking on the journey to Palmerville Gold. I am extremely disappointed. We left early too.
Long hours in the car to and from already heavily detected spots. Everyone we spoke to camper at Palmerville at the same time as us, felt similarly - not worth the money, energy, and car damage with long trips on poorly maintained roads to get zero. It is cleaned out. And if there is a nugget to be found you’ll need to use it to pay for the fuel, the camping fees and car repairs from the damage done Ferber poor roads.

A Gem of a place! Only three hours drive from the coast. Unfortunately accessible only with four wheel drive. Historical sites and beautiful nature! You can camp in a tent or a caravan. Cabins are also available for rent, for those who like a little bit of a comfort.
A must for those who are into prospecting but also offers birdwatching, barramundi fishing and yabbies.
Serenity of the nature and starry nights are what will bring me back ❤️

What a great place to stay and call home base for our holiday.
The location and facilities,
the scenery, the local history and the friendly people have made for some lasting memories.
We were lucky enough to yell EUREKA a few times too 😊
Worth all the preparation being so remote.
Time to get planning again for the next
trip.

Been staying here for last couple of years for a couple of nights in the cabins, they’re really doing a great job there with out losing the authenticity. We take small groups in there and they enjoy their time doing some detecting & relaxing around the fire pit of an evening. Great atmosphere!

I stayed at Palmerville for all of 2022 and in 2023 I still visit occasionally. Over the last year the facilities have constantly improved and are now very comfortable for family camping visits. There are plenty of bathroom facilities, wifi and drinking water. The camp spots are great with views of the lake etc. If you are looking for gold, it is there and the best thing is that there are plenty of long term fossickers camping there that have good knowledge of the area to share. Highly reccomend!
