A stay at The Dome House is a unique experience. The house is a timber geodesic dome, designed for the Sunshine Coast's beautiful sub-tropical climate. The design is an expression of Buckminster Fuller's dymaxion, eco conscious house, which uses the 'dome effect' to circulate air. The Dome House is a short walk to Mt.Coolum national park entry & 4 mins drive to the quiet Yaroomba patrolled beach, Point Arkwright whale watching, sea fishing & surf spots as well as two world-class golf courses. Convenient local shops, medical centre & restaurants are near by. Coolum Beach is only 8 mins drive north & Noosa 35 mins away. This boutique private lodge has 4 individually designed rooms, 2x four-poster king size bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, 1 queen bedroom with ensuite shower room & 1 twin room with shower room. Guest accommodation also includes shared facilities; kitchen, laundry, dining room, TV lounge (essential) Foxtel package & chill-out mezzanine lounge. Outdoors there is a pool, BBQ & off-street parking. The Dome House is a perfect venue for your business retreat or special event & is a friendly holiday home away from home for all the family including children & pets.

This house is awesome! It's designed so quirky, and all the furniture matches the awesome design of the house. Claire was so friendly, she made us so comfortable, it made us feel right at home. There's so many different sitting areas; you can sit down near the pool and have a BBQ; up at the top of the dome is the mezzanine with a couch and bean bags and game boards; in the lounge room there a heaps of movies and books to choose from; and in the closed in outdoor dining area. There was even a coffee machine, which I love making a cappuccino every morning, so it was great that she supplied the milk and Lavazza coffee. Every area of the house was spotless and we were supplied with fresh towels. The area was perfect, everything you need within 5 minutes drive, and Maroochydore and Moloollaba were only a 10-15 minute drive away. I will definitely return, and I have friends and family who I have shown photos to who will aslo book here.

We stayed overnight at the Dome but wished we had stayed longer .
The room was adequate and represented great value by itself
But the welcome we received from Claire , the bountiful supplies for the cook your own breakfast in the well appointed spacious kitchen and eating area , not to mention the welcome drinks in the fridge make the Dome a standout
We will be back . Thanks

The dome is definitely unique and has everything you need for your stay. There are complimentary drinks in the fridge of beer, wine, soft drink, juice and items there for breakfast (sausages, bacon, muesli, yoghurt, fruit, croissants, etc). There is a big DVD collection and book collection if you just want to chill out. Heaters throughout the home if you get a bit cold and a nice relaxed atmosphere. There are only 4 rooms I believe so you get your own space in your room with your own TV and bathroom and then the rest is shared space but it's so big you wouldn't get in each other's way. The kitchen is also fully equipped so you can cook up a storm like I did for breakfast! Claire was also very lovely and helpful and leaves you to it. She stays in a room downstairs next to the reception so you essentially have the place to yourself.
I was only here 1 night so can't comment on how regular things are cleaned/washed but I think it would be a great place to rent out as a big group for a weekend away.

we stayed for 1 night turned up and the house was dirty. The floor looked like it hadnt been vaccuumed, there were marks on the sheets. The microwave was so dirty. The stove still had food on which the ants were eating. Our feet were black within 5min. The pool didnt look healthy but Claire reassured us it was good, we had 2. Of our kids that ended up with sore ears. We didnt realise that the owner lived underneath the house as we booked the whole house out. It was so uncomfortable from the time we arrived. We opened the fridge and a bar fell out along with the coffee and broke and she was there within 1 min. I cant beleive we were charged a cleaning fee as this house is not cleaned by proffessionals at all .
dissappointed for the price we paid

We stayed at the dome house last weekend with very close friends. On first arrival to the property, my husband and I liked the place. It was spacious, It was full of character & was just different from the other places we've stayed at.

Not long after we got a tour of the house (during the tour, host did not mention any out of bounds area), we realised that the place is on the run down side. There were dysfunctional door locks, squeaky beds, uncomfortable mattresses, rusted bath tubs, severely leaking roof (the deck & the foyer were flooded due to heavy & continuous rain. One of my friends actually slipped on the floor), cluttered laundry (a long metal ladder fell in front of me as I access the laundry, dysfunctional dishwasher, very poor lighting especially in the kitchen. We had to use a bed side lamp so we can see what we're cooking and one of the lamp lights wasn't even working. The pool and the pool area were filthy and we had to clean it ourselves before we used it.

We still had a great weekend though as it was time spent with awesome friends. On check out day, all dishes were washed, rubbish placed in bins, floors swept, beds made, all used towels in bath or basket provided kitchen bench and tables wiped. We made sure we left the place tidy as what we'd expect if someone else stayed at our place. The puddles of water where left for the host to tidy up.

Yesterday, we received an email from the host stating that we should not have accessed the garage and that we've broken the roller door by forcing our way in and that we've used the 'green' bin for our rubbish. As mentioned above, there was no mention of out of bounds area during the tour or on airbnb website. A key was also left in the door knob to the garage door. As mentioned, it was a rainy weekend. We had done some groceries and would appreciate not getting us or the grocery wet so we thought we'd park in the garage. My friends tried to find a button to press to open the roller door but couldn't find any. Since we thought the house was older and most things don't work, we thought maybe we just need to lift it up. It was GENTLY lifted up and it opened! No force was used to open it. No non - heavy weightlifter can open an electronically locked roller door without busting a hernia. This was explained to the host multiple times as they continually repeated that we forced our way in. The host even stated that I was harassing her when I was simply stating facts & explained the events calmly via email. NO CAPITALISATION USED! I was even being empathetic and tried to tell her that I would be angry too if someone had forced their way into our garage. With the bin situation, as we stayed in the house all weekend, we generated a fair bit of rubbish. We chose to use the green bin rather to place our rubbish rather than leaving the rubbish anywhere else but the host didn't appreciate it as she had to fish out one rubbish bag from the green bin.

By the end of the day, the host requested us to pay $99 as an ESTIMATE cost for the garage. If the roller door was truly broken as we forced our way in, it would have cost ATLEAST $500 for the repair. She then cancelled the request & stated that a friend of theirs fixed the issue.

We already have recommended the place to other people despite all the dysfunctional things in the house as these can be easily fixed but because of how the host had accused us of forcing our way in, harassing and disrespecting her and her property which are all lies, we have retracted those recommendations and made sure to write this detailed review so other people don't have to waste their hard earned money.

To finish off, tea, coffee, salt & pepper, toilet & bathroom needs are provided so if you think these provisions, dysfunctional home and money sucking host is worth $1600 for the weekend, please, go ahead and book this place!

I booked this place for my daughter and I as we were arriving in Australia as a surprise for my mum's BIG birthday celebrations. I deliberately booked a FREE CANCELLATION room as I had a feeling that our plans could change once we arrived and everybody knew we were there. I didn't realize that The Dome House had already charged us in full for our accommodation over 2 months before our arrival and therefore assumed I was just canceling not having paid anything. When I returned to Europe and checked my credit card statements, I realized I had been charged over £500!! But no sign of any refund!! I ended up spending several hours trying to get in contact with them which was not easy. I ended up going to booking.com and they rang them in the middle of the night and finally got a response! The whole exercise ended up costing me about £100 for cancellation (which was meant to be free) due to the change in exchange rate since they had (unbeknown to me) charged me and phone calls! It's ridiculous that they a. Don't refund automatically and b. charge you in full before you've even arrived! Watch out!!

We rented this beautiful house for a weekend with cousins and grandparents. It's perfectly set up for multiple families as every bedroom has its oven private bathroom. The Kitchen/dining/lounge are set up in a very open manner allowing which is nice when your spending time with everyone. There is a pool, although it was too cold while we stayed to use. we would definitely come back again to share time with all our family!

Over the past week, the Sunshine Coast has been hit by bush fires. My partner, dog, and I were evacuated from our place in the heart of fire zone. We were scared for our place and the evacuation centre was welcoming, however, it was hectic with many pets and the anxiety was overwhelming so we thought we might be better off at a pet friendly hotel. Unfortunately, these were already booked out. Fearful we had to stay in our car, we found The Dome House online and gave Claire a call. She offered us a comfy bed with en-suite, a bowl for our pup, and much needed beer and wine all with a discounted rate for the night. Although we barely slept a wink, we were safe, had a comfy bed and our dog was content. As the fires were not contained by the end of the second day, Claire rang us up and offered us a room again but free of charge. Thank you so much Claire!

Second night round we were able to relax a bit more and take in the beauty of this amazing house. The kitchen had everything we needed and I could imagine staying here with my extended family for a brilliant holiday. We ordered the room service and it was divine and the breakfast ingredients provided were great too.

Thank you so much for helping us in our time of need. Your support allowed us to relax as much as possible and we cannot praise your place enough. It certainly made the best of a bad situation.

Clare was a great host and very welcoming. We called last minute and in the late evening but regardless of this, we were made very welcome. The house is excellent with great architecture. Everything that is needed for a great stay was provided and the bed very comfortable. The leafy surrounding are a delight. Did not get a chance to try the pool but it looked lovely.
This is certainly a great place to stay in Coolum.
