Booked our trip well in advance with my 3sisters and after having our villa cancelled we’re offered Villa 16 for a little more.
We were not disappointed on our arrival.
We had a lovely check in with Peter who had been fantastic communicator throughout the whole year, always replying very quickly to queries.
Loved the security of being a gated community as well.
On walking into the villa, it was jaw dropping. The living/kitchen area was a dream. From the comfy lounge area with movie size smart tv to the biggest kitchen I have ever seen!
Amazing modern style with every amenity you could ask for. Zip tap at the sink meant we always had cold water, boiling water and sparkling water on hand, and every drawer, or cupboard proved to have every item you could possibly want for your stay.
The full height wine fridge……..well what can I say?! The island bench was huuuuuuge!
Loved receiving a little welcome basket of wine and treats on our arrival as well.
Beautiful views of the ocean on the outdoor deck where we spent so much of our time at the large table. The bifold doors on the whole verandah brought the outside in and provided beautiful breezes.
Moving upstairs to the 4 bedrooms proved to reveal beautifully styled rooms with super comfy beds.
The master was fit for a king with bifold doors to another balcony and a huge bathroom via a walk-in wardrobe.
There was nothing to not love about this place.
We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice enough.
Short trip into Coolum for dinner as well but just call a cab…..don’t use Uber. $30 Uber ride vs $11 in a cab on the way home! Not anything to do with the villas….just letting people know.
Thanks for a fantastic stay. Our sisters weekend turned out to be one of the best trips we’ve had.

Our 3 generation family of 6 adults, 2 children and a baby had a fabulous stay in Villa 16 for 4 nights over the September school holidays. Our Villa was extremely well appointed and spotlessly clean but each Villa is separately owned so others may be different. The Villa had 3 spacious queen bed rooms (master included walk-in robe and ensuite) and one bedroom with twin single beds which was perfect for us as well as a double garage for parking. The kitchen had a breakfast bar for 4, chilled water and boiling water tap, large oven, induction cooktop and most of the pots and pans you could want for a holiday. Furnishings were in excellent condition and the beds were super comfortable.

The views from the living area and deck were amazing and we lost count of the number of whales we spotted while we were there. The master bedroom also had a fabulous outdoor area with spectacular views. It was very windy in the afternoons while we were there so unfortunately we weren’t able to use the outdoor space as much as we would have liked. The only dining table was on the deck so we had to move it inside for dinner as it was just too windy and cold outside. There was a lovely little courtyard near the entrance with a variety of seating which gave another area for guests to unwind.

The kids loved the huge television in the living room and the pool which is shared by all the Villas. The pool was too cold for the adults but of course kids will swim anyway. It was a steep walk down to the beach areas but we enjoyed checking out a number of lovely cove areas and found a lovely rockpool that the kids could play safely. The patrolled beach was only a short drive away.

The managers Leigh and Pete couldn’t have been more helpful. I rang the day before checkin to see if we could get an early checkin and it was no problem at all. The lovely welcome pack included a very nice bottle of red wine, macadamias, chocolates, nougat and pods for the Nespresso machine.

If you are looking for a luxury 4 bedroom apartment with spectacular views you won’t be disappointed with Villa 16.

The garage is on the ground level and the the main living area is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on both the first and second floors. The unit is spacious and there were plenty of bathrooms for the 8 people we had staying there. The unit has quite a large balcony area as well as a couple of small lounges off two of the bedrooms. The internet was not working for the first couple of days but the property managers were quite proactive in getting it restored. You will need to drive to the shops unless you fancy a long walk along a busy road. The mattresses could be firmer and if you look closely you can see some areas that could do with a touch up of fresh paint. But overall its good quality accommodation and we never felt crowed despite the number staying there.

Stayed in villa 5 for 3 nights on the last weekend of March as we were attending a wedding. We were disappointed from the moment we walked in. Carpet in the loungeroom was dirty. I needed to empty the vacuum first as full and then had to vacuum the room. Not what you want when you are on holidays and just after you have driven for 3 hours ! That night I needed to use the baking tray and when I pulled it out from the cupboard it was filthy. It had the last persons roast dinner mess on it. It took me 10 minutes of scrubbing to get it clean. We then went to use the potato masher and it hadn't even been cleaned. It was covered in potato! The oven was filthy it needed a good clean too. All this and we hadn't even stayed the night. Obviously the people who stayed before us had small children as there were little hand marks on all the doors and cupboards which meant they too had not been cleaned. The toilet downstairs at times would stink of sewerage as you entered it. Tiles on the floor in the main bathroom had lifted and not been fixed and the soap holder in the shower - the suction cap for it would not hold the tiny soap bar they give you. Considering this is quite a pricey place to stay we would expect this to be top quality. It certainly is not! When we explained all of this to management they told us we could have a discount next time we stayed. Why would we want to stay again!
On a lighter note in our rush to leave my husband left his shoes there. Management did post these free of charge - thank you.
After reading such wonderful reviews we chose Papillon but it was a big mistake!

Response from papillonvillascoolum, Manager at Papillon Coolum
Responded 12 Apr 2015
As managers, and as our reviews show, we place a great deal of effort in ensuring our villas as of the highest standard in cleanliness. I will assure you the floors are ALWAYS cleaned and vacuumed and cupboards cleaned. I do recognise that the carpet in this villa is indeed in need of replacing as it has many marks, and this has been noted to the owner. Definitely, however not dirty! It was very disappointing to read your review and had you voiced your concerns before your departure, we may have been able to provide some assistance and made any requested changes.

First time staying at Papillon Coolum Beach, we were up for a birthday weekend staying in unit 5, a three bedroomed apartment, decided to cook a roast beef the second night for a family dinner together, unfortunately we discovered the oven was faulty, called in the manager who without question cooked the dinner for us in her own oven, delivered it to or unit perfectly cooked, and the next day gave my wife a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates for the inconvenience. Five service at its very best, wish other places could take a leaf out of this book and do the same, would highly recommend this for a getaway to recharge the battlers and it's a great place to stay.

We stayed in Villa 7 for 10 days and were delighted beyond belief - champagne on arrival (Moet) and a perfectly clean and welcoming apartment. 4 large bedrooms, a 5th surprise bedroom with double bunks for the kids and 3 full bathrooms, 2 with spa baths. Two full sitting rooms, 3 TVs and every creature comfort - the well stocked kitchen is also a pleasure to cook in. Massive decks and doors that fold away - it's like being on the ocean!
The views from both floors to the water are stunning, and the place is nestled into a rare rainforest - amazing, crisp and refreshing!
So so recommended, we will be back!

We stayed in Villa 14 for our recent family holiday and were really impressed with the spaciousness and amenity. Our villa had three levels - downstairs entry, first floor bedrooms and bathrooms and top floor kitchen, lounge, dining and huge outdoor patio. Views were fantastic. Probably the best holiday apartment accommodation I've stayed in. We had two families staying with a combined four kids under four years. We had to keep an eye on the toddler with the stairs but the older kids had the best time going up and down the stairs all day - it became a bit of a game. They also loved the pool. Definitely recommend Papillon to anyone looking for a relaxing luxury getaway.

We've stayed here a few times as a couple and with family and it is just a delight. It has a well equipped kitchen with everything you'd ever need as well as a great size tv, ipod dock, magazines and books.

The furnishings are beautiful with a Balinese theme throughout the villa. It really feels like a home away from home. You're so comfortable as soon as you get there. The upstairs deck gets beautiful morning sun and during summer the downstairs deck is cool and lovely.

I have recommended this villa to a bunch of my friends as well and any that have stayed have loved it as well.

It's a nice walk down to the beach and shops and cafes, close to a nice swimming beach (though it's not patrolled) and close to Mount Coolum if you're up for something a bit more adventurous!

It would be great for families or a group of couples as it's 3 bedroom and has plenty of space so everyone can still have their privacy and quiet time if they want...

Looking for luxury that won't break the bank? Stay here - you won't regret it!

Our 16 days in Villa 7 at Papillon were just wonderful. The unit was large, spacious, cool and comfortable and it was wonderful to have the two fully equipped lounge rooms so there could be a Kidz Zone. The two dining areas were great as apart from the eight of us staying at Papillon we were joined for dinner by the family staying at the Caravan Park on the beach.
I cannot recommend this villa highly enough. If we are having a similar holiday again I would be very happy to have it there.
