Lovely setting, well equipped, comfy bed, great bathroom but a bit nervous about the window having no blind. Couch wasn't conducive to relaxing. We were there during the 7.8 earthquake and yes we "felt it" so can attest to it being earthquake safe! On the whole a lovely place to stay.

Thanks for staying Brenda. The Pavilion was designed and built to the new strict building code so no concerns there. We had never considered the need for a blind in the bathroom as the window affords a rather tranquil rural view from within and from the outside one would have to be at least seven feet tall and on tiptoes...

This house of Johns (the Spitfire pilot in WWII) was one of the nicest designed homes to stay in while in Havelock North. It is comfortable, full kitchen which is nice, with dining and lounge looking out over the beautiful and peaceful grounds which are significant. Walking distance along a nice path to HNorth with lots of appeal to those...

The hosts were lovely but the pavilion was a bit quirky for our tastes. Really counting on the wifi to hunker down and watch the U.S. election returns so were extremely disappointed to find wifi not working. I'm sure it would be perfect for most travelers but was not a good fit for us.

Thank you for staying and taking the time to write your review - we appreciate that. We understand that some people may find Pete Bossley's award winning architecture challenging - most guests absolutely rave about it. We also think that the photographs on our website and other booking platforms accurately portray The Pavilion and environs. The wi-fi feed comes from...

Lovely property. Friendly owners & special touches like homemade bread & jams. I had a party there & everyone loved it. Modern, stylish with touches of luxury. I'd definitely recommend it to others & come back myself. Very well designed with no waste space but everything you need is there.

Hard not to be 'laid back' here! The best thing about a holiday is relaxing and unwinding in a conducive environment. However we do take our host responsibilities seriously ..... and we'd like to think that is why so many guests return.

Lovely location, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Nick is a very friendly and welcoming host and the children felt very much at home and enjoyed exploring the grounds. Very close to Havelock North which is attractive and full of lovely shops and restaurants.

Thank you for your kind remarks. We love having children enjoy free ranging! We should be grandparents by now but the generation we bred seem to be in no rush whatsoever. We are lucky to have the easy walk along the stream to Havelock North on our boundary. The Village atmosphere and amenities are fantastic.

A wonderful stay in Havelock North/Hastings. John's House is a beautifully architected spacious cottage with lots of space and great facilities. With lots of space outside, the adults sat and enjoyed a glass of wine whilst the kids ran around having fun, feeding the pig and admiring the alpacas! Nick and Judy are great hosts and make you feel very...

We love getting these positive reviews. It really helps others get an accurate overview of what the place is really like. I specially liked the way you used the words space and spacious three times in the first few sentences! Thanks for staying.

The Pavilion is a gem of a building that was a great place for me to stay with my partner and for my parents, siblings and their children to gather at the end of the day. While the active ones played on the lawn, others sat on the verandah, inside the living area or along the window seat. And when...

Yes, the Pavilion has been terrific for couples who want a bit of entertaining space too - and so warm in winter and on cooler days with the double-glazed windows. The path into Havelock North village is well-trodden, and ridden!

We stayed down here for 5 days with another family and house was perfect. The extra room they have created gave us plenty of space for us and kids. So good to have the new space used, and see the children enjoying the lawns! The cycle track has really brought the village within walking distance for us. Thanks for your great review.

Absolutely awesome place. We stayed in the Pavilion house, which is superbly designed. Looking out to the paddock and gardens, the Pavilion has a cool BBQ area and sliding windows in the house to spend hours relaxing. We really enjoyed the interior design too, with wooden floors and open plan design, perfect for a couple of small family group. Nick...

So good to be re-reading these positive summer reviews in the cool of a winter's day; Hawke's Bay really is actually a wonderful year-round destination. Only recently our drought has broken and the rain tumbled down, filling the aquifers and tanks. Cyclists and foodies have been enjoying the cycleways and FAWC (Food And Wine Classic) events over the month of...
