It would be difficult to find a more idyllic spot for dinner on the terrace. A great view, enough shade, adequate menu and wine list with a very friendly staff. I hope I get the opportunity to go back. Trip Advisor says I must write more so hopefully there are enough words now

Stayed in a studio room which overlooked the historic Police station.Had views of Russell hill.Room was what we wanted for our overnight stay, clean and tidy. The bathroom was small but adequate, water pressure in shower was the best I have had in any hotel. Breakfast on the verandah overlooking the bay was just what the doctor ordered.Great view.

Based on personal recommendations we have chosen the Duke of Marlborough for a weekend stay in the Bay of Islands. Fantastic choice, the hotel breathes historical atmosphere in the best sense, very authentic building, well looked after by the friendly staff. The terrace is used not only for romantic dinner, but also for the breakfast. A big difference compared to...

The Duke is the place to stay in Russell - the view over the bay is fabulous especially at sunset - we stayed over Christmas 2015 and the food was amazing - lovely setting and lovely food. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Wow! What a great venue for lunch. Food was really good and the prices fair, but the view and location is incredible. If you're ever in Russell be show to stop in here for a beer. It's right on the beach front!!!

The Duke of Marlborough Hotel is wonderfully located on the waterfront in Russell. We had a very nice stay here and the room had a fantastic view. The evening meal was amazing (Lamb Shank for two) However the slow service let it down a little. The following morning we stayed in the hotel for breakfast, and I asked to have...

We stayed for three nights and thought the hotel provided comfortable accommodation in a fine period setting. The position in the centre of town, on the waters edge and near all amenities make its location ideal. Car parking is tight but adequate, there is no lift and we had some small issues with service but otherwise our stay was very...

This is New Zeelands oldest hotel. The hotel is extremely nice and charming and is located in the very waterfront of the nice little town Russell which is much more charming than the neighbour town Paihia. The restauarant is outstanding with excellent seafood and oysters. Anna and Thomas, Stockholm Sweden
