The location of the house was gorgeous and I was pleased with my choice as I could walk around the streets admiring the beautiful houses. When I met my host Paulina I felt instantly welcomed with a cup of tea and a chat. I booked the single room in the house and that was fine and good value for money....

We booked the villa room and were upgraded on our arrival to the villa studio which was a beautiful and comfortable stay. Our host, Paulina was very accommodating, she recommended places to eat, drink and explore and she shared her worldly knowledge on topics of interest. Paulina's homemade cereals, spreads, breads and herbal teas were a real treat the following...

I stayed in the Villa room in this beautiful heritage home on a street referred to as Nelson's dress circle. The spacious room with its own balcony, came with tea making facilities and a little fridge and was private and quiet. Delicious, nourishing feast for breakfast, a thoughtful host and an easy walk to the town centre made it a...

We stayed in the Garden Studio (couple + teenage daughter) and it was perfect -- beautiful, comfortable, clean, peaceful. We enjoyed Paulina's fabulous breakfasts every day -- delicious, healthy, and prepared with such consideration and kindness -- as well as her good conversation. Also enjoyed being able to buy fresh food from Nelson market and prepare some simple meals ourselves,...

High rating in every respect -- comfortable bed, spacious room tastefully decorated, private balcony overlooking the garden, delicious breakfast, and outstandingly helpful host. Paulina picked us up from the inter-city bus stop and took us back the next morning. (Paulina's home is an easy walk to town, but her help with transport was much appreciated given our luggage).

This lovely B&B is set in a gracious old home in a leafy Nelson suburb, less than 10 minutes walk from the centre. We stayed in a double room in the main house, with a beautiful view over the garden and Nelson city. A "Juliet" balcony was the ideal spot to relax at the end of the day. As keen...

Shortly after we made our reservations at Joya about a year in advance, Paulina emailed us suggestions for our trip to NZ. She welcomed us and took our bags in driving rain. She led us to our beautiful, spacious, well-appointed, immaculate suite, sharing more information about the area and her work with children. She made reservations with a small boat...

We enjoyed our time in Nelson very much. It is a lovely town and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights exploring the town and the surrounding area. There is lots to do and we kept ourselves busy with walks , boat trips, exploring Nelson etc. There are plenty of good places to eat and we particularly enjoyed our walk on...

We had 2 nights at this delightful and relaxing eco b&b with the warmest of welcomes from Paulina, the owner (who even did some washing for us). Breakfast was great, but the bedrooms weren't well equipped and an ant trail up the wall and into my suitcase wouldn't appeal to everyone.

Possibly the best B&B we've stayed in. Anywhere. Joya is within a stones throw of everything you should see and do in Nelson, yet nestled in private, tranquil and beautiful gardens that overlook the city. Paulina is the most delightful, thoughtful and attentive host, without being intrusive, and has helpful hints on what to see and do should you need...
