We had a double room with a very comfortable bed, linen very clean. Bathrooms and toilets spotless, kitchens have everything you need. Owners are trying very hard to save power, water, and recycle rubbish. Easy access to town.

I actually booked this hostel based solely on TripAdvisor reviews and got really disappointed - no offense, maybe its just me as majority of the reviews were excellent. But I guess we have different opinions. The hostel seems like a hospital converted into a villa - feels and looks like a hospital. The rooms and sheets were clean, though. But...

Very good lodge. Most friendly and helpfull staff I have met so far in Australia and New Zealand. The beautiful outsite (with cosy lights in the evening) of the building welcomes you and the very friendly staff makes you feel like home. We rented proper bikes for only 10 dollars and did a beautiful bike tour to Rabbit Island. All...

I just stayed here for 4 nights Jan 30-Feb 3 2017. Was excellent quiet calm place to stay! They have bike rentals $20/day or $10/half day with helmet and lock and the cycling trail is close by and about 10 min into town. Best if you have a car but i think some busses run. Perfect place if you want...

We booked Wakatu Lodge because it seemed great value for money. We weren't wrong. This place is great! The owners are fantastic! The lodge is clean, well kept and well run. The facilities are great for families and it has all amenities you'd expect from a more expensive place. I would rate Wakatu Lodge and Ferg Berger in Queenstown as...

Clean and convieneint, not far from town, Owners very helpful with info about where to go and car repairs when our car broke down, they recommended a good garage. Facilities were good, kitchens clean and hot showers worked well. Comfy beds. We would recommend this place, much more interesting and better value than a boring old motel. Keep it up...

I have stayed here twice over the last two years while travelling around the South Island and each time I stayed for either four or five nights. I found it clean and well organised, more importantly the owners were very pleasant and had lots of very good ideas and advice for things to to around Nelson and the Tasman Bay...

I would recommend staying at this back packers. Simon and Melissa are very friendly and welcoming. My room was clean, and the sheets were so crisp and clean, I was very impressed. Fully booked the night I stayed, Lots of young overseas travelers, which makes life interesting, The Fish and Chip shop across the road is a definite must. Good...

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Wakatu, the family who run the place are very friendly and go out of their way to help, the facilities are good and the location is just right to encourage a moderate walk each day into town. Great value for money. Could (and possibly will) quite happily live there for months.

“The rooms on the east side of the building tend to be cooler and a bit quieter. If available, get a room on the second floor. PS If you like your coffee - use the sedond kitchen. I donated a nice 15barr espresso machine to share the happiness. PPS Talk to Simon and Melisa - they sometimes have bicycles available to borrow.”
