I have stayed at many B&B throughout my travel life, and this is by far the best B&B I have stayed at. The room is very spacious and clean. There are Alpacas outside our patio. Breakfast room is stunning. Robbert was super friendly. He made us different breakfast each day. He gave us a lot of ideas of the town...

We spent 3 nights at the Retiro Park Lodge. As we arrived quite late from Picton and it is about 15 mins drive in to Nelson, we had booked for an evening meal which was delicious. Robert, the owner, was very hospitable and ate with us and provided 2 good wines to go with the meal. He also served an...

This was probably the best place we stayed in on the South Island. The setting is stunning, and the accommodation (The Barn) was perfect. The house and Barn are beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of artifacts from all over the world. Robbert and Flavia (the 16 year old Weimaraner) welcomed us on arrival and after settling in with good...

A lovely old house set in stunning gardens and rolling farmlands. We enjoyed the donkeys, alpacas, lamas, ducks, chickens, together with Flavia and Becky. Brekkies was v good, served in a separate flower lined conservatory, quite unique. Robbert was a great host, such fun, had such an interesting life, felt like we were saying goodbye to an old friend when...

Robert and Victor are just amazing! Gracious, hospitable and ......oh, so funny! We arrived later in the evening and my husband, bless him, had made all the arrangements to go to Retiro Park Lodge. After arriving off the ferry from Wellington, we had a bit of a drive and needless to say we had missed dinner. My husband had sent...

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. I have seen reviews from travelers staying here for one night, but I think these people missed out on some of the benefits of this kind of B&B. Key to the experience of staying at Retiro Park Lodge is the friendliness of the hosts, Robert and Victor. They were most welcoming,...

We apologize to Robert & Victor for this delayed review but it is nevertheless heartfelt. We spent our favorite 3 nights in NZ at the Lodge during our 5 week trip to both islands in Jan. 2015. These are 2 of the most hospitable gents you will ever meet. They were more than generous with their time in socializing, providing...

Down a narrow road lies the sweetest little lodge. This place was truly amazing. The outside was fantastic -- beautiful gardens, a wonderful tree house, and a good-sized herd of llamas and alpacas. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. It definitely felt like staying at a friend's house, a friend with better taste than I have! And the breakfast...

We arrived after 8 PM for our one-night stay. Robbert came out to the driveway to welcome us, showed us to our room, and then gave us our space for the duration of the evening. Our room was huge; it had a large bed, a sitting area, and the biggest bathroom I've ever seen. The fixtures in the bathroom were...
