Awesome old English pub & lodging feel, well themed without being tacky. Staff were awesome and accommodating. Warm rooms, beautiful hot showers with great pressure. Restaurant/Pub onsite added to the experience with the decor. Would be spectacular during the summer. Great quick getaway with husband - and blessed with a upgrade for our second of 2 night stay. Food was tasty too!

Hotel's Favourite
I stayed here overnight with a friend twice in a week, book-ending a tramp in the Abel Tasman. I thought it was great value for money - clean, big, comfortable rooms in a busy but peaceful English country pub-style small hotel. Nice grounds and reasonable food on offer in the pub downstairs. Lovely staff, particularly Aroha the manager. Toby the dog and his duck toy a highlight.

Coffee with friends, ordinary coffee accompanied with doorstop quality cheese scone. Will not be rushing back until I hear kitchen and front of house standard has improved. Shame because this lovely old pub deserves better and so do the customers.😔😔

We visited Nelson for the weekend of 5/8th of March. We left Nelson 20 years ago and thought we would stay in a place we were familiar with when we lived there. The hotel is a run down shadow of its former self. The accommodation is adequate but the meal service and standard of food is appalling. I won't bore you with the tedious details of the bad service and poor quality of the food as other guests have already pointed this out. Needless to say we will not visit this place in any future visits to Nelson.

We visited as a large group. Sadly, the food was disappointing, fish and chips was very ‘average’, no choice for desert, just chocolate brownie, which was very oily & served with a minuscule ‘squirt’ of cream! A very different experience than previous visits, we had expected better. A very ‘average’ experience.
