The Ibis budget Auckland Airport hotel garners mixed reactions for its value, with some guests feeling the cost is steep for a 'budget' establishment, despite its clean and cozy ambiance. Its proximity to the airport and local conveniences like eateries and shopping earns praise, yet opinions on service and room amenities vary, from commendations for efficiency to criticisms for lack of helpfulness and basic offerings.
While the rooms are often described as compact and simple, their cleanliness and comfort are consistently highlighted, although noise can be a concern for some visitors.

Detailed Reviews
We stopped here for a single night between flights. We made the mistake of walking to the hotel from the international terminal, which took about 25 minutes, and was quite difficult because several of the pavements were being dug up. What we now know however is that there is a ‘yellow shuttle’ bus that runs every 20 minutes or so between the two terminals and the hotel, and which costs $6 per person. We arrived at the hotel about 9:30 and although the official check-in time is 14:00 the staff were kind enough to store our luggage for a while until a room became available at 11:30.
Our room was tiny and, as I suppose the word ‘budget’ in the hotel name implies, very basic. Curiosity enough the bed was quite large which severely restricted the space around it, so the distance between one side of the bed and the wall was no more than a foot. The lack of space meant the only place to open our cases was on the bed which was quite inconvenient.
Other things to note is that the air-conditioning was quiet and efficient, external noise insulation appears to be good, but interior insulation is poor so we were woken several times by inconsiderate people in the corridors at night, and that Wi-Fi is only free for 2 hours, incredible in this day and age. Finally it is worth noting there is a bar/restaurant just down the road called Kawau Kitchen that makes a decent breakfast.
I would probably look for alternative accommodation if I needed to stay close to the airport again.

This was my third visit to this hotel and still the same things that I value were present.
The location is perfect to get to the airport as quickly as you can, and quality of the building makes sure that you will not hear anything from the outside, except the noise from the hallway through the average quality door. You can visit the shopping mall nearby, for example, they have Icebreaker outlet there with good quality clothing at a discount price.
The staff is always friendly and eager to help. The place is sparkling clean. This hotel offers great value for your money.

First time in an Ibis- odd room with a bunk above the bed- felt like being in a ship! Managed to get a good sleep thanks to the bedding from the bunk above as the heating did not work. Convenient location to airport and walking distance to takeaway store and grocery store. Shower was strong and hot. For those that like individual toiletries then bring your own, as shampoo, conditioner and soap are all in one attached to the wall. Ok for the price and a short overnight sleep. Cleaners had not wiped down bedside tables- still large coffee cup marks from last guest

Rooms are small but clean. For an overnight near the airport, I would definitely recommend this hotel. Check in was fast, courteous and efficient. Rooms are very soundproof to airplane noise, although less so for other rooms / hallway noise. So bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.
Breakfast was good. Standard continental fare. Wifi for two hours available free of charge.
You can get here easily from the airport by using the Yellow Bus. Can buy tickets on board or there are automatic booths at the bus stop itself. $6 one way. Ibis is the first stop. Runs every 20 minutes. If you are travelling light and are able bodied, you can walk.

We have stayed a few times now the only thing we didn’t like has now been fixed - free shuttle to the airport (it is an easy walk even then) Pricing is good for hotel so close to Airport rooms are small but clean great for an overnight stay. Easy walk for food or supermarket. If you are lucky you might get a high floor looking at airport

My stay was overnight. The staff even at the early hour I checked in (2:00 am!) were welcoming and efficient. My room was minimal but had everything I required and the bed was so comfortable with beautiful crisp, clean white linen. The room was neat and tidy and quiet. I couldn't really hear the road noise. The proximity to the International Airport was excellent that I was able to walk there the next morning.Overall a positive experience

We stayed only 1 night in a budget twin room and had a mental image beforehand of what the room would be like, but once there, we were amazed at how much better it was than our expectations.
Firstly, the reception desk was manned 24 hours, our room was a lot larger and better set out than some Ibis and Ibis Styles places we have stayed in, and it was cosier too.
It was also very clean, with facilities that were ideal for our overnight stay, so we've already agreed to return next time we're in Auckland.

We stayed overnight before an early morning flight. We booked a room with a king size bed which we understood to be a larger space as we had three suitcases and day backpacks with us. The space was relatively small but we managed aok.
Staff were efficient and helpful. If all you require is an overnight budget priced room then the Ibis Budget Hotel is perfect for your needs. If however, you are looking for a spacious room with all the usual Accor amenities then we’d suggest you book elsewhere. The shuttle to and from the airport will cost you extra and had we not had so many suitcases with us we would have walked it easily.
The restaurant adjacent to the hotel gets very busy in the evening and we’d strongly suggest you book to eat early.

This was a great stay for 1 night before an early morning flight.
I was on my own so the size of the room was good as gold.
The reception staff were great and check in and out was easy and fast. Being an accor member got me 24hr wifi instead of the free wifi for 2hours.
Is close to a few fast food places and also a chemist , The warehouse and a countdown supermarket within a 2 min walk. Also some other shops in the same area. It took me 10 mins to walk to the domestic terminal from the hotel. Would stay again if had an early morning flight.

Front desk Manager, Eli was outstanding, helped us no end, even when our van camper had a problem, he was there to help. So happy he was there. Many Thanks. The room was very small, but clean, and the bed comfy, loved the fact that they had blackout blinds that lowered, very easy to work and kept the room dark.

Yes they did. I had to show photo ID on check in.
Hi Allan, there is a bus service. We used it staying at this hotel in May, it is $8 each way (current October 2022) per adult but for me it was worth every cent.
CalebEdenEviesNanny asked a question July 2022
Mount Maunganui, New Zealand13 contributions9 helpful votesDoes the hotel have adjoining rooms for families?
Answer..NO, in my experience. There is a type of room with a single bed (quite large ..could squeeze in 2 slimmer adults) and a double bunk set up for kids! could maybe squeeze in 3!
Hi there, yes it is possible to walk to the airport 10min walk you'll be there, at 1:30am wouldn't recommend male or female to do, call the Ibis they're very helpful. They do have a shuttle bus that in February this year was free but we travelled again Aug 2022 now a small fee is charged for the service
There were alot of families there yesterday being it was the school holidays and some had infants or babies I know there are family rooms to also look at their website to see what their rooms have hope this helps
