Admella is a name that is very common on this section of the Australian coastline from Robe in South Australia to Warrnambool in Victoria. SS Admella was an Australian passenger steamship that was shipwrecked off the coast of the colony of South Australia in 1859. It broke up after striking a submerged reef near Cape Banks, off the coast near Carpenter Rocks, southwest of Mount Gambier, in the early hours on 6 August 1859.
This motel is in a quiet area – no need to mention the nearby Funeral Home. The staff are very friendly and also helpful concerning the area for cafes etc. The room was medium sized with the normal facilities available. The bed was comfortable and overall the room was extremely clean. Pricing was competitive and suitable for a property of this age and location. Hot water was constant and of a steady stream for showers. We did not avail ourselves of the wifi as we tend to use hotspotting with our mobiles for laptop usage.
The large nearby service station was very handy for items, including food, when required.
Return? Most definitely would stay here during future trips to Portland and nearby towns.

Lovely small motel, twin room was comfortable and cosy. Received free continental breakfast each morning (juice, bread, milk, jam, butter, vegemite and two choices of cereal). Quiet court with a brand new petrol station across the road. Lovely owners. Thank you Janeece and Bryan for a comfortable room and a great weekend.

Clean, comfortable and convenient. We’d just done three days hiking around Portland and looking for a place to rest up before our departure. Admella is close to everything you’d want and the staff were very helpful in getting us organised.

We just spent three nights at this lovely little motel. We were one block from the foreshore and could hear the waves crashing at night. Close to the CBD and restaurants. Very clean and comfy room with lovely hosts. Located in a court bowl so no through noisy traffic.

Just a few meters away from main street. Very clean, friendly owner. With 10 rooms not that big.
Only a 2 minute walk to a small park including BBQ area (coin operated), habour view.
Portland itself is more an industrial habour city so don't be disappointed.

I echo the compliments given by the the others as this is really a well run budget motel. This will put many other full service motels to shame, I think the difference is the owners and they run it so well, well above budget status. The place is well maintained and really clean. There is fresh milk, proper kitchen utensils, a laundry etc. Its at a the end of a short street so this means the place is really quiet. It is near to the beach and the shops/eateries/CBD. It also only has 10 rooms which means the place becomes easier to run and the service becomes so much more personal. If there was any negative, I got led to a different place by my iPhone GPS. Not the fault of the motel but a software malfunction by Apple. So for all you travelers using an iPhone, please do not use the GPS from iOS6, but use your common sense.

Friendly operators, genuinely interested in your stay. Fresh milk provided. The site is old, but very well maintained and clean and fresh smelling. I was so impressed with my first visit that I booked it again for the return journey. The location in a cul de sac means it is quiet. Easy walking distance to eateries, shops etc.

. I went to Fort Fairy over the Australian Day long weekend, as too late to book any affordable accommodations around there, I booked this motel in Portland. The Motel is located in a small court which is just off the main road, so it's a bit quieter compared sit right on the road, it's is one block away from the man shopping area where you can find Safeway and other major shops. A petrol station is just opposite the street,. MacDonald’s is on other side of the block. The room is basic, with microwave oven, and little kitchenette, but throughout it’s very clean, and fresh painted. Check in/out is easy and quick. They provide a small bottle of fresh milk for tea or coffee. The main beach and playground is just 5 min walk distance. Overall it’s quite nice small motel.
