Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was one of the most comfortable and SPOTLESS places we stayed in a 38 day Tour of Australia. Never stayed in a Motel but we were impressed. Spacious room ( 12 ) and lovely barbecue area, one of our fellow guests had boughta steak to cook ( never thought of that ) Reception was friendly, helpful and nothing too much trouble. On top of that ths was one of the best showers of the whole journey. A real credit to the owners, so much so we will look at Motels before Hotels for the excellence of the accomodation and VALUE for money.

Maybe a lamp for the rooms, but this is a personal ( and I like to read ) and very minor thing - does not reflect how pleased we were.

A group of 20 of us stayed at the Mariner Motel for two nights over the Labor Day weekend. Aaron was helpful and friendly both over the phone( numerous times while organising the weekend) and once we arrived. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with large bathrooms. There was fast Wifi and a large TV if you like that. It was convenient (1km) to the centre of Portland and extremely quiet despite being on a major road. The rooms are set well back from the road. The highlight for us was the garden with plenty of seating and wooden tables with umbrellas where we met as a group each evening for happy hour and nibbles. Highly recommend the Mariner Motel if you are ever in Portland.

We had a lovely two night stay an older style motel but a pleasant surprise upon entering our fully renovated room with a beautiful large bathroom and walk in shower, the room had plenty of space and two very comfy tub chairs with footstools, crockery, cutlery, toaster, microwave and a beautiful garden area to sit and relax while cooking a bbq. Very clean and close to shops and cafes and 1 block back from beach. Highly recommend.

The manager was friendly and room was spotless. Air con worked perfectly and the shower pressure amazing! One feature I appreciated was the car parking out front of every room was double width. Great not having to worry about someone banging a door into one of your panels!

Well located and great value for money. Another unexpected bonus was that the tv has Netflix and Stan etc already installed.

I wasn’t surprised when the manager told me they were fully booked out even though it was a mid week night.

Thoroughly recommend the Mariner Motel.

We use Portland as a business hub several times a year so we've back many times. We always choose Mariner. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and the service standards have been consisent through over the years. Rooms are competitively priced the location is useful, being just on the edge of town.

Started with Reception. Friendly and courteous. The room had everything we wanted. It was clean and well maintained. Location was perfect too. Not in the busy end of town but close enough for a short stroll to the shops. Car spaces were nice and wide so no risk of other car doors hitting our car. If I have the chance to go to Portland again, this will be my Motel of choice.

Mariner is a small, quiet venue, very professionally run. The rooms are spacious, well appointed , clean and comfortable. The car parks are large (good for SUVs and tradies vans) and it is just out from the busy part of town. It is excllent value for money and the owner is always accommodating.

I’m an owner of a company who worked in Portland and my workers stayed at this motel. I stayed a few time’s and nothing seemed too much trouble for this guy. My workers urged me to say something as they have stayed at a lot of motels around vic and the Mariner has surpassed all of them.
Rooms are immaculate and spotless with comfy beds and awesome showers !! Great pressure and the hot water just kept on going. Whoops. Sorry Aza.
All in all a big thank you to you Aaron and your staff. You have a great team and we much appreciate what you have done.
Will urge any companies to stay here.

The location was beautiful for beach walks/sunrise photography, just drive 5 min to the back of the Mariner Motel location. spacious room, neat and tidy and very quiet, safe for rest after a long way driving to Portland. Highly recommended MM as the best motel I've stayed at on my VicTrip this Summer.

Everything in this place was clean. Microwave, bathroom, cutlery, beddings and you name it. Pleasant surprise!
Dettol wiped surfaces down and the wipes were still white. :P
Great location, just on the quiet side of town yet close to everything, petrol station, KFC, beach etc ... Really impressed and happy we stayed here! Definitely recommended if the motel keeps up with the amazing work!
